08/04/2026: I just had a Serrano ham, goat cheese, pesto, and sundried tomato sandwich. Excellent! It's €5.90, but the bread is fresh and delicious, and the filling is too, so I prefer to pay a little more than at a bakery where the sandwiches are practically empty, just bread. I recommend this place if you want quality food quickly and to feel satisfied.

15/05/2026: This hotel needs renovation!! The room smelled of old cold cigarette. It was super dark and I had to manually turn on 3 different tiny lamps to get a bit of light in the evening. The cleanliness is so so. The bathroom faucets have water marks all over.. The breakfast is really subpar. The queen size bed only has 2 tiny pillows but the bed itself was quite comfortable. The room size is a good size, and the water pressure is excellent. Parking is great. I guess you get what you pay for. Definitely not a 3* hôtel.

23/02/2026: A very good experience at this restaurant. The food and dishes are fresh and delicious. While there's less choice than at other Chinese buffets, there's consequently less waste, and the food is almost exclusively Asian. There's enough variety to satisfy everyone and leave feeling full. The service is also very pleasant.

25/05/2026: Excellent homemade ice cream, special mention for the Madagascar vanilla and Piedmont hazelnut. Warm welcome and good service, I highly recommend it.

23/05/2026: Appalling service, the owner was rude and even made a sexist remark. He climbed onto a velvet chair with his shoes on to drain a leaking air conditioner just 20 cm from our table. Thank goodness the waiters were competent... I wish them luck.

09/05/2026: Unacceptable. I was waiting for my order, and the two salespeople completely ignored me while letting five people go ahead of me. So I left, and I have no regrets. If I were paranoid, I'd say it was because of my skin color!

20/05/2026: During an evening in Besançon, I particularly enjoyed this restaurant for its warm atmosphere and decor, impeccable and courteous service, and excellent cuisine. It was busy, but the noise level was perfectly acceptable. The service was excellent, neither too fast nor too slow—just the right amount of time to fully appreciate the food. I will definitely return on my next visit. The menu is varied and apparently updated quite frequently. The value for money is very good. In short, I highly recommend it!

19/05/2026: December 2024 I still think about my experiences at this restaurant to this day, which is why I feel moved to write this review. During my very first visit to France, I had the pleasure of dining at Le Bersot de l’Orient. I was staying nearby, and it became my go-to place throughout my two-week stay. I visited frequently; for brunch, lunch, dinner, and even supper. I also dined both alone and with friends, and each visit was memorable. Across every visit, the food was consistently delicious and deeply satisfying. Hailing from Singapore, a tropical island where I am more familiar with Southeast Asian cuisine, dining de l’Orient was new and exciting. At the same time, the flavours were unexpectedly nostalgic. During the winter months, the meals felt especially warm and hearty. I looked forward to the food to restore me after a long day of walking through the city. It is simple in the best way: honest, filling, and full of comfort, making it an excellent option for both lunch and late dinner. On one occasion, I brought a group of around twelve people, and we shared platters together. The atmosphere was lively yet easygoing, and it became a natural gathering point before continuing our evening plans. Dining here worked just as well for quiet meals as it did for group outings. I also appreciated that the food served is halal, and that the establishment is Muslim-owned, which gave me comfort as a Muslim diner. The washroom is clean and spacious. There is a bar area separate from the kitchen, and while alcoholic beverages are served, it is clearly distinct from the dining space -- something I note for Muslim patrons who may prefer to know. The restaurant itself is not extravagant, but it is warm, cosy, and memorable. It is located in a very walkable and convenient area, making it easy to return to throughout a stay in the city. The surrounding streets add to the atmosphere, especially in the evening when everything feels softly alive. I am deeply thankful to the Le Bersot de l’Orient team for taking such good care of me and for feeding us so well during my stay. These meals brought both comfort and joy during my time in France. More than just food, they were quiet moments of grounding in a foreign place, and they remain with me still. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area. I wish them continued success, and many more years of serving food that brings people the same quiet comfort it brought me. Merci beaucoup.

03/01/2026: I don't know if it's just me eating more, but I don't remember the filled waffles being any smaller. That doesn't change the fact that they're good. The staff serving are pleasant.

14/10/2025: I love Nutella wafers and Marrakech tea, a real treat, my passion. However, savory wafers are getting less and less good, and especially less and less filled. It feels like you're eating nothing but bread, especially the Nordik, where the salmon is (see photos). So, I think there's room for improvement...

08/06/2026: Only conditionally recommended for transit. Breakfast was okay, but the hotel is dated and doesn't look the cleanest. There don't seem to be many motorcyclists in the area; strangely, there were two flat tires (holes) on two different bikes.

24/04/2026: We had drinks outside, and the first waiter, who had a small earring, was very friendly. We had to call for a while and go find someone to order a second drink, and the second waiter came and was extremely unpleasant. He wasn't happy to be there, didn't like that we couldn't hear what he was saying, and was condescending, giving us a lecture.

15/01/2026: We had considered this establishment to celebrate my father's 80th birthday, in a place historically significant to our family since my parents had celebrated their wedding there 60 years ago. Originally, the event was expected to bring together about thirty people. However, based on our initial email exchanges with Catherine, we quickly felt like we were intruding. After proposing a date, we received a negative response, without any alternative being suggested or even being shown the menus. Faced with this lack of communication, courtesy, and consideration, we nevertheless tried to adapt by voluntarily reducing the number of guests, hoping to simplify the organization. Unfortunately, this approach was not met with any more respect or professionalism. During a visit by my mother to obtain further information, the manager adopted an openly contemptuous and inappropriate attitude. The presence of children was deemed problematic, the lack of a guarantee regarding wine consumption was criticized due to the restaurant's profit margin, and the final number of guests (16 adults and 5 children) was declared "unacceptable," before a flat cancellation and an invitation to leave. This behavior is all the more surprising given that this establishment is a traditional brasserie. Claiming a level of service that one never embodies, neither in the welcome nor in the customer relations, is, to say the least, disconcerting. This place is clearly not suitable for families, nor for organizing family events of any kind. More broadly, this experience raises questions about the vision of the profession held here. The restaurant business is based on hospitality, respect, and customer loyalty.
