31/10/2025: Excellent restaurant! The food arrived 5 minutes after ordering, with a wide selection of dishes:
-Meats
-Fish
-Pizza
-Savory crepes
-Mussels...
And the desserts are delicious, plus there's a sea view!
It's simply superb.

26/12/2025: We had lunch at this restaurant in December during the holiday season. We received a warm welcome and the service was prompt. We thoroughly enjoyed the veal sauté and the house shank; everything was delicious and tender.
20/10/2025: Absolutely avoid.
We stopped by chance for a crepe and left with a complete rip-off. Disgusting dishes: a tasteless pseudo-poke bowl for my daughter and a kebab plate that has no place in a restaurant; more of a poorly made snack bar.
The service? Outrageous. The server hesitated for a long time, then accepted the meal voucher card, but when it came time to pay, he snatched the card from my hands, without giving a receipt or any explanation. No politeness, no "goodbye." Zero professionalism.
A real tourist trap, shoddy organization, and rude staff are to be avoided. Do not set foot in this establishment.

11/11/2025: We thought it was an April Fool's joke, but it was actually November 11th.
The service was incredibly slow, the crepes arrived cold, and the drinks took 30 minutes to arrive.
To top it all off, the waiter told us the crepes were €8 each instead of the advertised €4. What a lovely atmosphere!

Free entry, but very expensive drinks (€8 for a Coke and €12 for a beer...)
11/09/2025: We were having a great evening with a small band playing music and a happy, festive atmosphere until the bar owner decided to verbally attack my husband for no reason. He then physically threatened him by trying to fight him outside. A very bad experience and we absolutely do not recommend this kind of place.

29/09/2024: Breakfast disappointment and unpleasant service
We were disappointed by our experience at the L'Escale restaurant during a breakfast with a group of five people. At 13 euros per person, breakfast includes a hot drink, orange juice, yogurt, half a baguette with butter and two jams, as well as a pastry. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired.
As soon as we arrived, the waitress was not the most pleasant. We had to wait a long time for our pastries, and when we asked where they were, the answer was curt: "I told you I put them in the oven." It was not the kind of attentive, friendly service you would expect, especially for a convivial occasion like breakfast.
What surprised us the most was to learn that the pastries were frozen, while the bread came directly from the baker. We politely expressed our preference for fresh pastries, but the waitress said they were better frozen. At no time did she take our opinion into account, remaining cold and unpleasant throughout the exchange.
In summary, the value for money does not justify the experience, especially in the face of such unwelcoming service. One positive point: the fresh bread was good, but the attitude of the staff and the frozen pastries tarnished our stay.
Move on and go a little further because the prices are more attractive and the welcome is much more pleasant.
27/09/2024: I had breakfast and must say the experience was disappointing. The chocolatines were frozen, which really ruined our meal. When we mentioned this to the waitress, her response was less than professional. She even told us that she preferred frozen chocolatines rather than those from the bakery. This attitude left us perplexed and certainly did not help to improve the atmosphere. I don't recommend this place if you're looking for a good breakfast.

05/09/2025: Very nice personell! The lady who helped us was very nice and helpful. We we were even allowed to bring and eat our croissant who we brought from the boulanger next door. How nice. Coffee is lovely (also vegan/soja), we will definitely come back to this one.
27/08/2025: Nipped in for a coffee as the refuse guys had occupied the Rex over the road. The owner, who’s about 65 made it very clear in his behaviour that it was not a cafe but a club for his mates. Honestly don’t go!

15/09/2024: Conosco il ristorante Santa Maria da diverso tempo e si conferma un’eccellenza di Calvi. Situato sotto la cittadella, si caratterizza per un’atmosfera accogliente e piacevole. Favoloso il polpo alla mediterranea piatto forte del menù del locale. Eccellenti anche gli spaghetti alle vongole. Ottimi i desserts. Consigliato.
01/09/2024: Plats très bon et copieux. Seuls les beignets de fromage en entrée ont été une fausse note. La pâte à beignet est farineuse et prend le dessus sur le fromage qui n’a pas de goût. Tout le reste était impeccable et c’est une très bonne adresse.

Each visit left me with the same impression: that of a place where you immediately feel welcome, almost as if you were returning to a vacation home. Andrea's family is exceptionally warm, always ready to share an anecdote or a piece of their region's history, with a natural generosity that can't be faked.
The cuisine reflects those who prepare it: local, authentic, and bursting with flavors that speak for themselves. And for those who enjoy discovery, a few touches of Asian inspiration sometimes elevate the dishes, with a surprising finesse that works wonderfully. Nothing is forced; everything is just right. You eat delicious, balanced dishes, prepared with talent and a lot of heart.
The view adds even more to the magic of the place. A picturesque and authentic landscape, the kind of setting that perfectly complements a cuisine full of character. It's a place that deserves to be savored, to take the time to breathe, to savor, to chat with this family, proud of their region and their Corsica, and also proud to offer simple, honest, and deeply engaging cuisine.
