15/08/2026: Here's my review of this restaurant; we had a wonderful evening.
The gazpacho was excellent, I have no other words to describe it, the salmon steak was equally impressive, and the dessert had original flavors.
The entire team at L'Hippeau was fantastic, well done to you all, it was a great time.
Bonus mention to DJ Amplitude x Nico Sax for the atmosphere and their talent. I highly recommend it.

18/08/2026: Terrace setting was nice and no issue with service. Adult food was fine, good value. They had no steak hache and replacement was chicken breast and potatoes with no sauce or any vegetables which wasn't great.
17/08/2026: A scandal. A salad with four ingredients in the bottom of a shallow bowl for 17 euros. Dressing worthy of a supermarket. It could be considered a starter in other restaurants. A glass of Chablis for 10 euros, a price not mentioned when ordering. I pointed this out to the so-called chef, the one collecting the bill, who didn't even bother to ask me what I didn't like so he could pass the information along, and of course, no apology. The customer is no longer king in the Loire Valley!

The restrooms are dirty and smelly.
The respect shown to customers could be improved.
21/07/2026: A cool, shaded terrace. Delicious meal, the desserts were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Our grandchildren loved it!

23/07/2026: Appalling. Disrespectful welcome, no consideration for customers, contemptuous attitude. And when you file a complaint with Leclerc, they tell you that the Paddock isn't part of Leclerc, which is a lie. Avoid this place.
22/07/2026: We wanted to eat there as a party of four on Monday, July 13th. The waiter seated us along with others who arrived after us.
The waiter took all the orders from tables of two, disregarding the order in which people had arrived.
After half an hour, we called him over to take our order, and suddenly the daily special (chicken and fries) was no longer available.
So, no Vinci menu, no quick meal, no menu at all... In short, it was 12:30 pm and the daily special was gone. Fantastic!
We left without eating at this cafeteria; it was truly unprofessional, just like the waiter. I definitely do not recommend it. 😡

03/05/2026: We were definitely treated like tourists: €10 for a long coffee and a 33cl Badoit water with a tiny slice of lemon is a bit much... but the person who took our payment didn't seem surprised... unlike us 😵💫

01/12/2024: Les incontournables friandises d’Amboise pour se faire plaisir entre 2 visites : à emporter ou sur place, tout est bon! Le chocolat chaud maison à l’orange, une tuerie! Les oursons en guimauve, les tartelettes, goûtez-tout!
28/10/2024: Décevant.
Serveurs souriants, certes, mais pour la patronne, faudra repasser.
30 mn d attente pour se voir servir une quiche à rechauffer et une assiette de fromages. Achat du caramel beurre salé au comptoir. Insipide. Sans saveur
Repassés plus tard car les enfants voulaient une glace. J'avais envie d en manger une mais...pour les adultes....pas de cornet possible !!!! Allez savoir pourquoi... Ca m'a passé l'envie !
Bref...déception.

08/03/2026: Spacious room, king-size bed, and incredibly comfortable bedding. The en-suite bathroom was a lovely size, with a bathtub 🤩. Kettle, tea, and coffee were provided. The reception staff were attentive, gave clear explanations about how everything worked, and even refilled my water bottle before I left the next day. Great! I didn't try the ground-floor dining room as I ate outside, but it was nearly full, offering a set menu with a starter, main course, and dessert. A terrace (table and two chairs) was included since the room was upstairs.

08/12/2024: Decouverte de cette auberge dans une ambiance médiévale. Les tables sont dressées à l'ancienne et les couverts ne sont pas faciles à utiliser. Q'importe le repas était excellent. Après la découverte des créations de Léonard de Vinci nous avons eu droit au gouter de Noel car nous étions 1 groupe de 100 personnes.
30/10/2024: Excellent déjeuner dans un restaurant très agréable qui a su conserver l'originalité du lieu et qui agrémente la visite du Clos Lucé.
Des mets délicieux et originaux sont servis par un personnel très accueillant.
Je recommande vivement ce restaurant.

20/08/2024: En dehors du coté pratique si vous logez à l’ hôtel, ce restaurant est à éviter : très banal et manque de qualité surtout par rapport au prix: nos deux salades sans sauce ( salade que nous retrouverons flétrie avec les tomates cerises au petit déjeuner) , la saveur des rougets presque absente car trop d’oignons dans le feuilleté, frites congelées..
Et verres à vin très très ébréchés!
17/06/2024: Awful food and service. Avoid at all costs. We waited for 30 mins for our starter which was not cooked and gave us all stomach aches.

28/08/2024: I'm really surprised by the comments, it's so good and inexpensive, I loved the sandwiches and the cakes. There are seats in front of the Clock Tower, it’s adorable.
