05/12/2025: A lovely little bistro that I highly recommend. A great menu with well-prepared seasonal dishes, delicious homemade desserts, and excellent wines. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, not noisy, and you feel comfortable because the tables aren't too close together. I received a very warm welcome and the service from the owner was impeccable. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Château-Gontier. 🥰

10/10/2025: Excellent little restaurant, as good as it is visually beautiful. I don't have a photo of the dessert but it was also divine. Original selection of beers with many craft beers that you don't see elsewhere, which makes up for the slightly high price of these (only negative point)

01/03/2026: Hearty lunch. Service was too fast; the starter was served just as we were starting ours. The staff and setting were pleasant. The vegetables, carrots in particular, were too crunchy and tasteless; the waitress didn't ask how we wanted our duck breast cooked. The rest was good.

19/02/2026: A perfect welcome! The owner truly goes out of his way to take care of his customers, attentive and warm, which makes the experience particularly pleasant. The dishes are beautifully presented, as beautiful as they are delicious, and the cuisine is excellent. A place I recommend without hesitation and where I will gladly return!

04/12/2025: We stopped at this restaurant on a whim and were greeted by a very pleasant lady. The meal was excellent; we ordered the flank steak, which was very tender and beautifully presented. We will gladly return.

20/12/2025: The food was of very poor quality. The so-called homemade fries were soggy and greasy, and the green beans were barely green at all. The meat was of mediocre quality; when we ordered, we weren't asked how we wanted it cooked (a basic requirement in any restaurant), and it was practically cold throughout. It was still defrosting. It was cooked somewhere between rare and medium-rare. The tagliatelle dish didn't deserve any more praise; the presentation was appalling, and the seasoning was nonexistent. We ordered two glasses of wine, but neither was served. To top it all off, they charged us for them. To cap off the evening, the "manager, owner, or whatever" came to ask us if everything was alright. The brief but unfriendly exchange made us feel like we were responsible for not having spoken up. The service and atmosphere were just as bad as everything else. I think this establishment would be a perfect candidate for the show "Kitchen Nightmares."

09/12/2025: We received a very warm welcome at lunchtime, just as service was ending. The bistro menu was well-prepared, and the kiwi, clementine, and banana tart was a surprising but absolutely delicious choice. We will be back.

03/01/2026: Excellent value for money. Welcoming and professional staff. A bonus: an upstairs area where you can have lunch while enjoying the horse races with the new LES PARIS MUTUELS URBAINS concept.

30/12/2025: We stopped in Laval for lunch (2 adults and 2 children), and found it to be excellent value for money. The staff was very welcoming and professional. We'll be back!

21/03/2026: I ate here twice for work. Friendly welcome, pleasant atmosphere, efficient service. Hot and generous portions.

02/03/2026: Often passing through Laval, I like to stop at Le Poivre Rouge. The welcome is friendly, the service is quick, and the food is good, which explains all its stars. And of course, there's no problem with parking.

07/11/2025: We'd not been here for a few years after it closed between new owners. The menu was a choice of 2 mains. We had both and tried each other's. Massive plus, was HOT food and HOT plates. Something, other restaurants could do. Plenty of food. All nice. 3 course for 15.50e plus my wife had cheese.

18/03/2026: The service and atmosphere were very pleasant. We always have a great time here. However, today we ordered a pizza. Imagine our surprise when we saw the size of the pizza for almost €13! A little disappointed, but it was still very good. We'll be back, but without the pizza!

09/02/2026: I only visited the restaurant. Superb cuisine, beautifully presented in a very pretty setting. A lovely walk around the lake to help you digest. It's truly a beautiful place.

24/12/2025: We traveled 40 km to eat here and you stood us up, and the other restaurant wasn't notified. We are very disappointed.
