05/05/2026: The €78 tasting menu, with two asparagus spears on the plate as a starter (photo attached), I find that very disappointing.

03/05/2026: We celebrated my birthday here, and unfortunately the experience didn’t live up to expectations. The food was visually beautiful and creative, but overall quite bland, more focus on aesthetics than flavor. Service was also underwhelming from the start, with staff avoiding eye contact and coming across as distant rather than welcoming. Midway through the evening (after about four courses), something seemed to go wrong internally with the staff, and the whole experience unraveled. Service essentially stopped - not just for us, but for several tables around us. We waited over an hour for dessert with no updates, no water refills, and no offers for additional drinks. It genuinely felt like we had been forgotten. This was the first time I’ve been in a restaurant where I was actively hoping to leave. When the desserts finally came, the experience had already been overshadowed. To top it off, as we were literally walking out the door, they realized it was my birthday and offered a small cake, but by then it felt like an afterthought, and we didn’t stay. Overall, a disappointing experience, especially for a special occasion.

18/03/2026: Very good pizza, thin crust, not burnt but not undercooked either. Reasonable price.

25/02/2026: Excellent pizza and the owner is very pleasant. I'm not being overly friendly, but honestly, I envy you going to see him; he makes amazing pizzas.

02/03/2026: A nice pub that a friend introduced me to. We went there in the afternoon for a good beer while waiting for the concert we'd come to see at Tony Garnier. The atmosphere was quite relaxed, but it was still very pleasant. I'll definitely go back to this pub next time I'm in Lyon.

18/04/2026: Another great find: a lovely, delicious bouchon in a beautiful location. Excellent, typical Lyonnaise cuisine. Attentive staff with great recommendations. Go without hesitation!

02/05/2026: Dinner for two with two set menus and a glass of white wine. Total around €60. I hadn't noticed they didn't accept restaurant cards... The waitresses were pleasant. However, we found the food expensive for the quality. The potatoes were swimming in oil. The salad wasn't amazing. The Lyonnaise cheeseburger looked tempting, but we didn't find it exceptional.

26/04/2026: Well located The shower doesn't work and this isn't indicated. And there's no shower door… Limited coffee available The bathroom light flickers Very poorly insulated; you can hear everything in the next room as if it were part of your suite… Suite… that's a bit of an exaggeration… It's a room with a sofa in the entrance. The coffee machine is broken. It's not quiet; the café terrace is right below.

13/05/2026: We came for dinner last night, and we loved it! We had a really great time, the food was delicious, and we had a good laugh thanks to the chef who kept the atmosphere lively throughout the meal. If you have some time and want to spend an evening out of the ordinary, don't hesitate!

01/02/2026: The setting is lovely, the food is pleasant and delicious. This place is a real find in this area, which has very few welcoming bars/restaurants with a nice terrace.

19/01/2026: What more can we say than absolutely fantastic! The decor is a blend of modern and retro, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. There's a lovely, spacious outdoor area with a terrace that we'd be delighted to explore when the weather is nice. The welcome was friendly and professional, with a real focus on customer satisfaction. We wanted to order sweet potato fries, but they refused because they weren't happy with the day's batch; they said they were a failure. We ended up ordering classic homemade fries, which were really good, just like the rest of our meals, which were as generous as they were delicious. In short, we highly recommend this fantastic place, and we can't wait to come back. We don't have any photos to add to this review because we were too busy enjoying ourselves 😉 P.S.: Their apartment, which we rented through Airbnb, was just as lovely.

13/09/2025: The restaurant has fundamentally changed its concept. Not a disaster in itself, but they should update the links/photos. Completely understaffed, one overwhelmed waiter for the entire dining room. The kitchen is taking it easy meanwhile. Way too hot inside. The food was okay, nothing special. We just wanted to leave...

13/09/2025: Unfortunately, Contre-Champ is not what it used to be. The chef has changed, and the experience is nothing like what you’ll see on Google or in older reviews. The food was disappointing, far below expectations, and the overall quality has dropped dramatically. To make matters worse, the poor waiter had to manage 11 tables completely on his own — service was understandably slow and chaotic, and it was painful to watch him struggle. What used to be a great place has become a real letdown. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal.

19/03/2026: A reliable choice for 15 years. Chill atmosphere, good music, good beer. Be sure to check on football/rugby match nights, because the atmosphere becomes more like a pub.

03/12/2025: Always a good time, a pirate's hideout just the way I like them. The service is very pleasant and they show rugby matches on a retro TV.

06/05/2026: One of the best nights i’ve head whilst traveling. Visit on mondays if you can the pub quiz so fun and the duo hosting it managed and entertained the crowd so well. Also kudos to our amazing server Johana such an attentive and friendly person!

26/04/2026: Nice atmosphere, service was okay. Food poisoning today. To be fair, the dishes didn't look appetizing... It's a shame, we're long-time customers. It's changed a lot and gone downhill.
