14/10/2026: Hello, we came to your place really excited to spend some time with the cats, but honestly, I have cats at home and we had to leave without buying anything because the very strong ammonia smell was just unbearable. It's such a shame, the place looks great, but it was impossible to breathe. There are some great plant-based cat litters that absorb odors, but that wasn't an option. It was 4 pm and we really wanted to have a good time, but we left after barely two minutes once we got in.

10/10/2026: The welcome was icy, the staff cold. Above all, we were concerned about animal welfare: the cats were exhibiting abnormal behavior, moving slowly, not responding to things that would normally stimulate them, some were even aggressive (probably overstimulated?), and all were exhausted. The rabbit was also exhausted, sinking to the bottom of its cage and trying to hide. If you love cats, don't come. We finished our drinks and left as soon as possible; it was too heartbreaking to see them in such a state.

05/10/2026: A tourist trap to avoid! Appalling service and mediocre food. The chocolate mousse and praline tart were inedible.

05/10/2026: It was an interesting and pleasant first experience with the traditional lyonnaise meal. It was good food wise and a good experience. I have definitely gotten used to the slower service in France and have come to appreciate the space between courses. Unfortunately, here this was not the case and I felt we had barely finished our starter before our main came. We had to ask for space between the main and dessert. Perhaps the spacing between courses is not the norm here? Anyways, all in all it was nice.

13/09/2025: The restaurant has fundamentally changed its concept. Not a disaster in itself, but they should update the links/photos. Completely understaffed, one overwhelmed waiter for the entire dining room. The kitchen is taking it easy meanwhile. Way too hot inside. The food was okay, nothing special. We just wanted to leave...

13/09/2025: Unfortunately, Contre-Champ is not what it used to be. The chef has changed, and the experience is nothing like what you’ll see on Google or in older reviews. The food was disappointing, far below expectations, and the overall quality has dropped dramatically. To make matters worse, the poor waiter had to manage 11 tables completely on his own — service was understandably slow and chaotic, and it was painful to watch him struggle. What used to be a great place has become a real letdown. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal.

31/12/2025: 6 euros for a "hot chocolate" that turned out to be cocoa powder diluted in milk, served in cardboard cups. And it was so diluted it was more white than brown. This is extremely disappointing for an ice cream parlor, especially considering the price.

31/12/2025: What is this inedible chocolate ice cream?? I took a teaspoon of ice cream and immediately spat it out! How can you make ice cream that bad? Even the worst store-bought ice cream at 15 cents for a 35-pack is better

19/09/2026: A glass of Macon and a pint of lager for €16.50 🫪 Given the prices charged, it would be good to repaint the toilets, buy a new flush button, and provide undiluted hand soap (75% water)... A bit of a disgrace for international tourism in Old Lyon.

14/09/2026: Yesterday, after our visit to Les Tupiniers, we went for a drink nearby. After one of us had a whisky and tonic and the other a St. Véran, we paid for our drinks. When I was told it would be €9, I thought my friend would pay less for her glass of white wine. Well, no, the bill was also €9. The St. Véran wasn't anything special. A real rip-off, a tourist trap! I'll never go back to that café where the toilets aren't spotless and the door is very slamming.

25/08/2026: A lovely bakery in the heart of old town Lyon. Try the croque monsieur. Delicious!

26/08/2026: I ordered through Uber Eats. It cost me €16 and some change for a bland bacon burger, with no salad, and definitely labeled "frozen." (Not surprised if everything is frozen.) The only thing that had any flavor was the Biggy sauce. Other than that, zero stars. I don't recommend it.

25/08/2026: Pepperoni pizza without pepperoni (just kidding, there was one pepperoni per slice), okay for a quick fix. Nice dining area, super clean restrooms, you feel right at home, fast service, basic menu for a fast food place. Well located but not very accessible by car. Open 7 days a week until late, so super cool.

16/07/2026: I came here for lunch with my partner. The service was very welcoming (a young man and a young woman), both very friendly. The food was good and they gave helpful advice on what to order. I recommend it.

06/07/2026: Very warm welcome and good food. The waiter was quite romantic but not very professional... :)

06/08/2026: Normally a very good bakery, I was surprised to find a small piece of wire mesh in my salad... Please be vigilant in the kitchen!

07/10/2026: I stopped by for tea; they have a lovely selection of quality teas. The welcome was so warm, as was the interior layout. I sat upstairs, and I highly recommend this friendly space.
