16/06/2026: The onglet de boeuf, which was translated as beef fillet on the menu, was definitely not a fillet and tougher than my sneaker. A real shame. The fish with sauerkraut was good, and the salmon was equally good. The service, from the highly competent waiter to the forgetful temporary server, was very friendly, and the outdoor seating area was lovely. I wouldn't recommend it solely for the food. Otherwise, though, a visit is okay.

14/04/2026: We stopped by chance and honestly, we have no regrets. The owner is exceptional; he gives great advice on everything, presents the menu with care, and recommends drinks to accompany the dishes. The portions are generous and very reasonably priced considering the size of the servings. We ordered the homemade desserts to take away, and just like the meal, they were absolutely delicious. If you're ever in the area, don't hesitate to stop by. You won't regret it.

02/06/2026: A lovely room with a view of the vineyards. Excellent dinner featuring authentic Alsatian specialties. A fine selection of wines, including those from the family. An excellent stopover or base for a longer stay.

05/07/2026: I do not recommend this place. I came in for a double espresso and politely asked if the music could be turned down because it was uncomfortably loud. Instead of responding professionally, the waitress told the staff member taking my order, “No, this is Bristol. I’m not turning the music down.” I found this response disrespectful and dismissive. My coffee was served without a spoon rest or even a proper saucer for the spoon. When I politely asked where I should put my spoon, the waitress first ignored me while serving another customer and told me to wait. When she finally came over, she simply said, “Put it on the table, it’s clean.” I thanked the waitress when she served my coffee, but she didn’t even acknowledge me or reply. When I went to pay £3.80, I mentioned that I was disappointed by the service. Instead of apologizing or trying to understand my concerns, the waitress replied, “I don’t care. Bye.” This wasn’t about the price of the coffee—it was about basic courtesy and respect. Customers deserve to be treated politely, even when they make a simple request. The espresso was acceptable, but the customer service was one of the rudest experiences I’ve had. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this café.

24/04/2026: The staff were incredibly welcoming, full of helpful advice and great recommendations. The location is ideal for visiting the center of Strasbourg. The room and bathroom were clean and functional. Thank you again for the stay and the warm welcome.

15/02/2026: The room was quite small and lacked any particular charm, with closet doors that only opened partially. Soundproofing was inadequate: on weekends, noise from nightlife could be disruptive (waking up around 5 a.m.). On the plus side, the bedding was very good quality. The lack of a physical reception made the experience feel somewhat cold and impersonal: instructions were sent by email and keys had to be collected at the entrance. However, the central location was a real advantage, allowing quick access to amenities. The price-quality ratio was still acceptable.

22/06/2026: A very warm welcome; the owners are fantastic. We ate at the hotel restaurant one evening, and the food was truly excellent, with very good service. The owner is the chef and uses fresh, seasonal ingredients. The room was large, comfortable, and clean. The breakfast was comprehensive; nothing was missing. We will gladly return.

01/06/2026: We were very disappointed with our visit to the restaurant. The Mother's Day menu, paper napkins, and the very limited meal for 40 euros were all very noisy. Good evening.

02/07/2026: Restaurant in the center of the village of Gambsheim. Parking available in front. It's spacious and has a terrace at the back. The menu is very comprehensive, featuring meats, salads, pizzas, and tarte flambée. The latter two are cooked in a wood-fired oven. The waitress was very friendly. We opted for an Antipasti platter and an oriental pizza. The platter was excellent and very generously topped, but the pizza itself was so-so. The crust was very thin, like tarte flambée dough. I think they could do better. The pineapple carpaccio was excellent, but the strawberries with whipped cream could have been colder. A good place to eat.

29/06/2026: First visit to Au Vieux Fournil. Pleasant setting and warm welcome. Flammed tarts and pizzas. The same dough for both, which is unusual. The tarte flambée is slightly thick, while the pizza is thin, but both are very good. The tarte flambée filling is excellent, generously topped, resulting in a superb round tarte flambée served on a plate. The pizza has a thin crust, a very good tomato sauce, and toppings made with quality ingredients. In conclusion, the tarte flambée/pizza combination, using the same base, allows both to be made in the same oven, and the result is original and impressive. A delightful surprise. This restaurant is a great find; we will be back.

15/07/2026: Very friendly and tasty. Good fries. My friend had a bread with salad and cheese inside, he said it tasted like creek salad in a bread and liked it very much. The cook was super friendly and I also liked the design. It was surprising that there's such a good restaurant in such an fd up area 😂
