20/05/2026: I ordered Uber Eats, and the variety of kemia was all mixed together in one dish. Not all the kemia were there, and they were hidden under salad. It was really unappetizing. I will never order again; I'm disgusted. It's not worth the price. How can they serve this to their customers?!

14/04/2026: The InterContinental Marseille – Hôtel Dieu is a five-star establishment. It says so everywhere. The building is magnificent — an 18th-century former hospital inaugurated by Napoleon III, no less. I arrived with my expectations intact. They did not survive the terrace. Perhaps I am being particular. I have been called worse. But when an establishment charges five-star prices and displays five stars above its door, it has entered into an implicit agreement with its guests. I hold up my end. I pay the bill without complaint. In return, I expect the stars to mean something. Had there been no stars, no white-glove pretensions — I would not have bothered. But there are. And so here we are. We were seated on the terrace of Le Capian. And what a terrace it is — in the architectural sense, certainly. In every other sense, winter came, deposited its full inventory of leaves, debris and grime, and nobody thought to object. Something had occupied a section of the floor for the cold months — a planter, a piece of furniture, one can only speculate. It had since been removed. What had not been removed was the evidence of its long residency: grease stains, dark outlines pressed into the stone, the biography of an object that sat undisturbed for months. One might invoke Marseille's famously brisk Mistral winds as a mitigating circumstance. One would be wrong. Any establishment of this classification, in this city, is intimately acquainted with the Mistral. It is not a surprise. It is a forecast. Maintaining a terrace in these conditions is not exceptional hospitality — it is Tuesday. The service rose to the occasion — by which I mean it did not rise at all. Our waitress passed our table with great purpose, that purpose being the table directly behind us. We waited. We continued to wait. One wonders — and I raise this as a man who dresses for his own comfort and has never dressed to impress — whether one's reception here is subject to a quiet visual assessment. I have encountered this philosophy at other addresses of similar standing. It is not more charming the second time. When hospitality finally arrived, it took the form of a bowl of olives. Just olives. No nuts. No accompaniments. At every five-star bar I have visited, the welcome snack has at minimum suggested someone gave it a thought. Here, Le Capian has placed the entire weight of its hospitality onto a single olive. It is, I concede, a very good olive. And yet, at these prices, the snack is not a courtesy — it is a statement. A bowl of solitary olives makes an establishment of this ranking appear, to use a word one rarely associates with five stars, cheap. The following day I visited Le Dantès Skylounge at the Sofitel Marseille Vieux-Port — also five stars. The terrace was clean. The staff acknowledged us. Snacks appeared without negotiation. None of this is remarkable. None of it should be. But that story deserves its own review. Le Capian was entirely content to let the architecture do the talking — and to let the rest of us sit quietly on a dirty terrace, waiting to be noticed. 18/03/2026: Disgusting, avoid at all costs. My plate smelled rotten. I asked for it to be replaced, and they tried to charge me for two plates. Terrible atmosphere, fish not fresh, avoid at all costs. Not to mention the manager yelling at her employees. It was shameful.

26/06/2026: Honestly, for a brasserie, the daily specials are really tasty and well-thought-out. The menu is also very appealing, and the value for money is excellent. The fish is fresh and cooked perfectly. A typical Marseilles atmosphere.

16/12/2025: As a native of Marseille, I don't play tennis, but I've come many times to dine in the club's restaurant, which is also open to non-members. The setting is very pleasant, a blend of relaxed and refined atmosphere, where a welcome sense of calm prevails. Each table is spaced far enough apart to allow for comfortable conversation. The menu is simple yet generous. And for pizza lovers, there's a magnificent pizza oven and a pizza chef on hand.

27/06/2026: It was very good, the welcome was very warm, it's nice to be greeted with a smile, and the price is very reasonable. I think it's the best bakery in the neighborhood at the moment! The competitors are more expensive!

04/06/2026: I received a very cold welcome at this establishment. Exhausted after my workday, I simply wanted to sit on the terrace, forgetting to greet the waitress. Her reaction was immediate and curt: "You say hello, and you take orders inside!" A complete lack of empathy and courtesy. Unfortunately, Marseille is losing its soul with this kind of behavior and these newcomers. Avoid this place if you're looking for even a modicum of human warmth.

18/06/2026: A very disappointing experience. Aggressive waitress. Incompetent staff. The most shocking thing: we were seated right next to a building entrance with constant foot traffic. Why?? I won't even comment on our food. Avoid at all costs.

13/07/2026: A croissant at 1.50, one has the right to expect a quality croissant, but no, burnt underneath, almost like breadcrumbs inside.

10/07/2026: This is a bakery, not a restaurant. They offer various breads, focaccia, tarts, croissants, pain au chocolat, etc. Everything is delicious, so go there, but not for a meal.

31/05/2026: This was my first time at this bakery. The staff were very pleasant; a young man named Alexandre gave me a warm welcome with a big smile and listened attentively to my request. I will gladly return.

07/05/2026: This is THE best rotisserie in Marseille, without a doubt. The chickens are carefully selected. They offer different types of chicken to suit all budgets. You can go there with your eyes closed!

05/06/2026: I would like to say from the outset that I promise this is not a tourist being demanding or rude or expecting to much. As someone who has worked as waitress/bartender for 9 years I am a firm believer in respecting hospitality as a profession and always being kind, compassionate and considerate when being waited on. I have never written a negative review before but feel I ought to. The person serving us was incredibly hostile, even though I myself was trying to speak French and I was with a French national who was speaking perfect French he scoffed at us speaking French to him and would reply sarcastically in English and German (we’re not German). Important to note that this was not my experience anywhere else in Marsaille or the surrounding areas, everyone was incredibly nice and really welcoming to me attempting to speak in French and spoke to my fluent french friend with joy that we were speaking their language. He (the server) was rude, sarcastic, mocking and keen to make us feel as unwelcome. We couldn’t get out of there quick enough. Make sure you pack a lunch and enough water for the Calanque’s because you will not want to be forced to make a stop here. I understand working in a touristy spot can be really hard. I’ve worked many a summer on Brighton beach and experienced some rude tourists. But when being met with polite and unproblematic guests there is no excuse ❤️
