The breakfast deal (the juice that was supposed to be freshly squeezed turned out to be bottled juice, the butter was expired, the advertised Nutella was nonexistent, the dishes were dirty, and there was no choice of pastries) in short, nothing good...

23/02/2026: We had a snack while watching rugby on the terrace. It was a very pleasant moment. The €5 set menu, including a crêpe or waffle and a drink, is particularly appealing. The waitress was very kind and welcoming. I recommend this place for a relaxing time on the terrace, with a beautiful view of the Maison Carrée.

11/11/2025: Opposite the Nîmes theater, you can enjoy a relaxed drink with friends without any fuss. It's particularly cool in the summer, and the terrace is open almost year-round. The owner is always very friendly.

01/01/2026: Great restaurant, we hadn't booked but we still got a table inside. I recommend the "fofolle" salad, it was excellent.

22/03/2026: Very mixed feelings. The starter was excellent, but the main course for Mr. Salmon en Croûte was more like pastry with a little fish, and Mrs. Kebab was ordered well-done, but the inside of the meat was bloody and inedible. As a result, we didn't order dessert. Otherwise, the place is pleasant, although despite the empty tables, we ended up with a table in the middle.

22/03/2026: We arrived at 12:15 PM and were finally shown to our table at 3:30 PM without a word of apology for the slow and completely disorganized service. The asparagus soup was served cold and tasteless. The meat, however, was very well prepared and redeemed the meal. The birthday cake was a generic, snow-like thing. I do not recommend this restaurant.

07/03/2026: I wanted to try a slice of praline flan, and I wasn't disappointed at all; it's one of the best slices of flan I've ever eaten. I'll definitely be back to try other products.

07/03/2026: I came in the afternoon, and while I was waiting to be served, the saleswoman chatted with some acquaintances, served me, and rushed me out. I wouldn't recommend coming in the afternoon because the saleswoman is incredibly unpleasant. If she doesn't want to serve customers, she should find another line of work. However, the flan was delicious, so I recommend coming in the morning if you want good pastries.

01/11/2025: Drawn in by the menu featuring an omelet with chanterelles and black trumpet mushrooms, you discover an exceptional spot: a awning-covered patio, an island of tranquility in the heart of Nîmes. The service is outstanding, the sommelier offers excellent advice, and the cuisine is homemade using fresh, local ingredients, orchestrated by renowned chef Sébastien Granier, a Bocuse alumnus (photo visible at the entrance). The wine cellar is top-notch... a set menu at €25, the omelet at €19... it's top-notch without breaking the bank. Highly recommended!

31/01/2026: Stopped in for a light lunch, and had wonderful escargot and chèvre flan salad. The restaurant is beautiful inside, the service was wonderful and food was all delicious

13/01/2026: Upon arriving in Nîmes, we were looking for a restaurant serving good local cuisine. No fast food or junk food. And luckily, we found Le Cheval Blanc. The restaurant is ideally located opposite the arena, and its decor evokes the world of bullfighting, with its colors, artwork, and bullfighter costumes. The staff is professional and very welcoming. The dishes are generous and delicious. In short, a pleasant lunch in an artistic and warm atmosphere.

30/11/2025: This place is a disgrace! They make fun of the customers and their employees, especially the new ones. What is the world coming to?! They'll recognize themselves; they're the two oldest in the bakery. I'll never set foot in there again, nor will I give them my money, because they are truly haughty and disrespectful. Ugh! I confirm the other reviews that say the same thing. Where is the manager? Plus, their tarts are undercooked, especially the pastry. They don't taste very good... a real disgrace. And on top of that, these women are like radar guns, watching and peering everywhere. No need for security cameras, as if we were about to steal! The saleswoman serves you with her mouth full, and on top of that, she puts the chocolates on the shelves without gloves! That's completely unhygienic.

23/11/2025: This Sunday morning, I went to Villaret's for Sunday breakfast: croissants and brioche. It was 7:40 a.m. I walked through the shop; I was the only customer. The display wasn't yet set up. I was facing four saleswomen who didn't see fit to interrupt their conversation. Almost a minute passed before the youngest of them deigned to give me a half-hearted greeting. I asked for croissants and brioche. "With sugar or praline?" she asked. "Don't you have any large plain brioches?" I then inquired. The red-haired saleswoman then intervened, telling her colleague, "Wait for the large brioche, I have orders..." After two minutes, and after the saleswoman who was helping me found the right size bag for my two croissants, she asked her colleague again, I received a negative response regarding the purchase of the brioche, because there were orders... it was 7:45 a.m.! I've been a customer of this bakery for over fifty years, but this is the last straw. I left the croissants and went to Grasset in Les Halles. A well-stocked display, a smile, plain brioche. Villaret, you've definitely lost a customer.

08/02/2026: A historic and beautiful location, but the management's attitude is completely at odds with the prestige it projects. The remarks and shouts directed at the staff in front of customers create an uncomfortable atmosphere. When you consider the refined manner of many great French pastry shops, the contrast is striking. Despite the high prices, the overall impression is unfortunately ordinary and lacking in elegance.
