14/02/2026: Honestly, not great. The woman who served us was very friendly. But the food itself wasn't very good, especially for the price... The tables weren't clean even though there were only a few people in the restaurant.

06/03/2026: Very disappointed, the place has changed a lot. The welcome was completely devoid of smiles. As for the food, it's anything but a real chip shop: the bread isn't a proper baguette and the fries aren't even served inside! To top it off, they were undercooked and had a strange celery taste. I don't understand what happened, but I won't be going back.

11/10/2025: Convinced by the reviews I've read here, I gave in to temptation at La Cambuse. Unfortunately, I didn't find much in the following comments: - First, the smell of fried food is striking, as soon as you enter the bar/restaurant, guaranteeing smelly clothes all afternoon. - Second, the dining room has almost no natural light (just a skylight), with very basic furniture, not very pleasant; it's quite sad to eat in. - The draft beer menu is rather poor, which is always a shame in the north. - The service is nevertheless pleasant and fast. - But I was disappointed when the frozen fries and bagged salad arrived...

30/01/2025: This old Lille institution pubstore is a true journey through time, as much for its decor as for the music and the puns used to name the dishes (I love it)!!! The food is delicious, made with fresh, quality produce; we had a blast 😋. The only downside was the particularly unpleasant waitress, who seemed annoyed to be serving our group on a weekday evening when the restaurant was almost empty... She made a mistake on the bill and angrily demanded: "We'll have to pay the difference!" It's perfectly normal, but there are ways to express it, especially when the mistake was hers... I still recommend the establishment, but the service is part of the package, so be careful 😉

04/07/2025: Nice spot away from the street. I'd like to try the rooftop next time. Good homemade sangria. Daily special ok. Service took a while for our table, but there were 10 of us...

04/07/2025: I paid 45 euros for a meal, a glass of wine, and two glasses of water. We were put on a poorly placed table, even though there were seats everywhere, and we were refused access to the terrace. Overpriced, service not good, food mediocre, and we were overcharged.

15/03/2026: My experience at Hippopotamus Lille met all my expectations: simple, quick, and efficient. Ideal for a meal where you don't want to waste time without sacrificing quality. The service is well-oiled and the welcome is pleasant. I recommend it for a lunch break or dinner without any unpleasant surprises.

08/03/2026: A restaurant that serves nothing but fries. Two daily specials offered, no vegetables, no low-GI options. I ordered steak tartare with one slice of tomato and one lettuce leaf. Very, very disappointed.

10/10/2025: A restaurant that is very "in its own juice", typical of Wazemmes, with a local atmosphere. We liked the chicken and the tartare. Fast service.
