Le Vertugadin

09/12/2025: Le Vertugadin has become a traditional stop for me at the start of a weekend in Normandy. Located a stone's throw from the stables of the Château de Chantilly, this French restaurant remains a sure bet.
The service is dynamic, friendly, and efficient: nothing to complain about. The cuisine is excellent, with a real selection and high-quality ingredients, perfectly executed. This time, I opted for the set menu; the value for money was truly competitive for an establishment of this caliber. I had previously ordered à la carte and it was a delight, but on the other hand, the prices quickly add up: the Tournedos Rossini alone, I believe, exceeded the price of two complete set menus (starter/main course/dessert + drinks).
It's a very good place. The only slight drawback: the decor. A mix of antiques, vintage finds, and more modern, sometimes surprising, elements (special mention to the men's restrooms…surprising, original, but not in the best taste), creates a somewhat cluttered impression and doesn't really tell a coherent story. It's a shame, because the quality of the food deserves a more harmonious setting.
That said, the spacious dining room and the terrace in summer are a real plus. An address I still recommend for the quality of its cuisine and service.
07/12/2025: A pleasant and very good restaurant. The atmosphere and the welcome were warm. There was a wide selection of dishes, starters and desserts, and everything was really good.

The only downside is sometimes the wait between ordering and eating.
I recommend making a reservation if you want to eat inside.
07/12/2025: Lieu très sympa pour boire un verre ou manger. Les plats sont maison avec de bons produits à un prix très correct. Le petit bémol un petit changement de cartes de temps en temps serait pas mal.

11/01/2026: Really disappointed. The crepe was burnt, the decor nonexistent with lots of finishing touches needed, nothing like the paved courtyard of the 90s. I really don't recommend it, not even considering the price.
05/01/2026: Very satisfied. We had limited time to eat, and this was respected. The crepes were generously filled and delicious. There was a small play area for children. I recommend it.

02/09/2024: Very good stay in the hostel.
The room is spacious, bright and very well equipped. The swimming pool and sauna/hammam are great.
We enjoyed the Jardin d’Hiver restaurant where the proportions of the dishes and cocktails were generous. The restaurant staff is professional and attentive. We had specified when booking that it was for a birthday, and we thank them for their attention: we were offered a dessert with a candle and happy birthday.
The establishment is well located and the staff are great, especially Fabrice who made our stay even more pleasant with his kindness and good humor.
The reception staff are attentive, pleasant and do their best to satisfy our requests.

Big smiles, personalized attention throughout our stay, the whole team knew how to pull out all the stops. The room was very pleasant with a lovely view of the Château park. The food is very good and the service attentive. It was great!

25/08/2024: In an idyllic setting at the Jeu de Paume hotel in Chantilly.
We did not know that the chef was a Robespierre of the restaurant business.
We ordered a very classic shrimp and avocado salad as well as the foie gras and to treat ourselves, the oscietre caviar from Prunier. signature dish.
Finally, the strawberry pistachio ice cream is a menu out of the ordinary, it’s true.
To overcome the long wait for service, the Taitainger champagne was lukewarm and not chilled but hey…
Surprise, the salad where the pieces of shrimp and avocado could be counted on the finger of one hand was very weak.
If you think you're having foie gras with 2 small toasts and a little chutney, don't think about it:
Forbidden by the boss….
The caviar placed on a plate and not even opened at the chef's discretion it seems, was not on a bed of ice as it should be....
Finally the ice cream didn't break 3 pieces of pasta for a duck...
That said, the bill was correct and 2 glasses of wine were offered….
Very long waiting time for service.
I dare to hope that the starred restaurant of this establishment does not have the same chef otherwise it will be a French revolution in the heart of royalty.
It's time for him to go to the other side of the ring road to see if things are different...

Nous avions pris le menu dégustation qui est extrêmement cher vu la quantité servie. A force de vouloir faire de la cuisine extravagante on passe à côté du principal : une cuisine chaleureuse et goutue. Dommage
