11/07/2026: We sat down at a restaurant the other side of the square but got up after being ignored by unmotivated staff and grabbed an outside table at Le Berry.
What a contrast! Welcomed with a Bonjour et Bien venue by a pack of noisy friendly waiters. Inside was packed and wonderfully noisy. Had a beer, salad niçoise and the biggest croque madame I've ever seen all for €40.

21/07/2026: Without any hesitation! 👍 I highly recommend this bistro where I went for lunch today with my son. It's true that my Pyrenees trout wasn't the freshest of the bunch, but all I had to do was mention it to the waiter, and he exchanged it without any fuss or argument! Yum, yum, that trout was so good! (It can happen in this heat). We also thoroughly enjoyed the refreshing watermelon and tomato soup. My son was very happy with the duck, which was cooked perfectly and served with homemade fries. To finish: two tiramisu with red berries and pistachios...a pure delight! Despite the slight hiccup with the first trout, I highly recommend it, both for your taste buds, which will be thrilled, and for your wallet!

20/05/2026: Beautiful hotel, perfect location for exploring the city on foot. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The park-facing rooms are lovely and spacious with a terrace; be aware that the frogs' calls are quite impressive. High-quality linens, excellent bedding, a wide selection at breakfast with good quality products, and eggs cooked to order. The spa in the basement could be a little warmer, but it's pleasant with a hammam, sauna, and pool. Excellent treatments were provided. We were very satisfied with our stay.

12/04/2026: For my 30th birthday, on February 9th, 2026, I wanted to spend this special day 🎂 in a magnificent, elegant, beautiful 😍, warm 🥰, and bright place… So, I chose Le Jeu de Paume, a place I particularly love. The service is impeccable 👌🏾, the food 🍱 is delicious 😋, and the servers are fantastic ✅.
I highly recommend this place, and it was my second birthday 🥳 there; I also celebrated my 28th birthday there…

Alexandre Paget is a genius!
His team is truly top-notch!
The only problem is finding the time to come back.

28/02/2026: Hello, we chose the €31 set menu with foie gras and chicken in a pot.
The foie gras was of poor quality, probably a budget option.
As for the chicken in a pot, it wasn't a real chicken in a pot at all, but rather a chicken boiled in a pot of water. It had no flavor and lacked tomato sauce. 🍅... It's a shame that the restaurant Chez Oliver next door is closed, or perhaps the former owners of the Henri IV could show them how to make it properly.
Unfortunately, there are very few restaurants left where you can enjoy a good chicken in a pot, and you have to go a bit further from the château.
The dessert was satisfactory.

05/07/2026: The perfect spot for a drink and some tasty snacks in the Pau castle district. The gentle breeze on the terrace, so welcome in the sweltering heat, made the experience even more enjoyable!
The servers were also very friendly; we'll definitely be back.

Last night, a very pleasant evening enjoying drinks. The welcome is always very warm.
One small drawback: the cheese and charcuterie platter was much less generous than last year.

19/07/2026: The service and friendliness of the waitress and waiters was excellent. The food was good: calamari, salad... A quick stop for a bite before continuing to explore the city.
14/07/2026: One of my favorite terraces in Pau. A relaxed and welcoming atmosphere if you want to go out without watching the matches. Thanks to Lazlo and Hugo for their humor and professionalism. A very pleasant evening spent at Cafe du Passage.

27/02/2026: Disappointment! While it used to be good, fresh, and the service was impeccable, yesterday it was a disaster. An hour for a starter (Serrano ham) and a main course (veal breast with pasta) that was bland and tasteless, and to top it off, a waiter who dared to tell us that if we were in a hurry, we should just eat a sandwich! No, I no longer recommend this place. The food needs improvement, and especially the professionalism of the staff.
