L'Envers du Decor
Saint-Emilion
05/07/2026: Generous to give one star! Avoid it’s a tourist trap. Tuna and monkfish horrible. I think a lot of tour guides etc recommend as they maybe gain something from it.
05/07/2026: Unfortunately, we were utterly disappointed by this place. Top to bottom. We were looking forward to it. Booked 2 months in advance. Got there, and the sommelier was useless. Absolutely did not help us. Just asked our budget and said ‘what do you want ‘… the sea bass was overcooked and dry. The burrata and tomato starter was way oversalted, and that was after we had had charcuterie. Overall €200 bill for mid food and poor service. There are better places around.

Les Giron'dines
Saint-Emilion
15/06/2026: A warm welcome and a lovely terrace, the meals are excellent! And the white wines too!
14/06/2026: Nice place, nice waiter too, "reasonable" price, pleasant setting and menu.

Le Medieval
Saint-Emilion
16/07/2026: Avoid this breakfast. Day-old bread and croissants, or worse. Low-quality juice and jam.
15/07/2026: This restaurant needs to hire more waiters. The ones there were trying their best but two waiters to serve all outside tables was not enough. I waited for 30 minutes to be served before leaving without so much as a drink. Disappointing.

L'Antre Deux Verres
Saint-Emilion
03/07/2026: Such a great experience, great service. We ordered burrata, escargot, foi gras and Camamber cheese. Everything was great, especially with a glass of good wine. Merci.
18/06/2026: A place just to stop, enjoy the oika and drink. The food is basic and the cook fails to produce decent dishes.

Le Clocher
Saint-Emilion
15/07/2026: The Google rating doesn't really reflect the experience. The staff was pleasant and the service efficient. The meal was very good, though not haute cuisine. The prices are reasonable.
13/07/2026: Tourist solution but fast and practical, prompt service, quality aligned with the type of clientele and fair prices, recommended for a quick brunch, salads recommended

17/07/2026: Very bad! We are themselves operators of a restaurant! What we experienced in this café was shocking! I ordered a bouquet de crevettes! When they were served, I could hardly believe my eyes, or rather my nose! The shrimp were slimy and smelled terrible! Afterwards, I received fresh ones, but that didn't make it any better for me! Additionally, the service staff sat outside the restaurant, smoking and puffing. When I wanted to wash my hands, I walked past a large mirror that hadn't been cleaned for weeks, as well as the windows! The service staff would do better to clean a little instead of smoking! If work is done this way in this cafe, it's not surprising that you are served such (harmful to health) shrimp! I usually don't write reviews, but after this experience, I find it very important that these issues are uncovered! It personally hurts me when restaurateurs, who are not in a prime location, do everything to provide guests with an experience! Such a shame for this beautiful place! Disaster!
16/07/2026: We had a wonderful time right in the city center, with excellent service and delicious food. A very pleasant experience.

Le Bouchon
Saint-Emilion
15/07/2026: We really enjoyed the beef carpaccio with truffle, the chicken brochette, and the duck at our dinner. Surprised by the negative reviews because we found the staff very friendly, and the food was very tasty. A little pricey but makes sense because of the great location and atmosphere.
12/07/2026: The wine list includes wines as high as €6,000 but the wine menu is littered with grammatical errors. Imagine going through all the time and effort to create the world’s best wine, and it’s presented grammatically incorrect in a laminated paper. This is the easiest part of service and they were not able to get it right. On top of that the staff were inept at wine service. There were two good members of the service team and that’s it. You will need to flag down a server for ten minutes until you’re able to order, if you’re lucky. The food is not worth the wait nor the price. This wouldn’t be an issue except they asked for tips at the end. Many of us tourists are more than happy to tip, however the service here was easily the worst I received anywhere in the Bordeaux region. You will be sitting with an empty glass, not having placed a food order, and the servers will be chatting in the corner with not a care in the world. Go anywhere else for better wine, atmosphere, and food.

Hotel Restaurant Le Grand Barrail
Saint-Emilion
02/07/2026: My husband booked a spa package for us at Château Grand Barrail in Saint-Émilion as a surprise after I’d recently been unwell and hospitalised during our holiday in France. We were really looking forward to a relaxing afternoon, but unfortunately our experience was so upsetting that we left before our treatments.
After arriving, we were shown to the spa and invited to use the facilities while waiting for our massages.
While I was alone in the ladies’ changing room, two male private security guards walked in without any warning. Just moments earlier I had been completely undressed. They did not introduce themselves, explain why they were there or apologise, and they were not accompanied by a female member of staff. I was shocked, embarrassed and felt my privacy had been completely disregarded. I fully appreciate that security staff have an important role, but that should not extend to entering a ladies-only changing room without warning while female guests are undressing.
At the same time, my husband experienced an equally unacceptable situation. He had locked all of his clothes, wallet and personal belongings in the locker provided, expecting them to be safe and secure. When he returned to retrieve his sunglasses, he discovered that the locker door had been removed completely, leaving all of his belongings exposed and accessible to anyone. We then realised maintenance staff were replacing locker doors while guests were actively using the changing rooms.
When my husband questioned the workers, they were dismissive, simply saying they were “doing their job.” We then raised the matter with the spa staff, who appeared equally unconcerned, explaining that maintenance staff were simply changing the locker doors. This completely misses the point. Guests should never be allocated lockers that are about to be dismantled, nor should the door be removed from an occupied locker without warning. It was an obvious security risk and entirely avoidable.
Following these two incidents, we no longer felt comfortable remaining at the spa and made the difficult decision to leave before our massages.
We then spoke to the front-of-house manager, Rodrigo (if I have his name correct). While he apologised regarding my husband’s locker, he immediately dismissed my concerns about the two male security guards entering the ladies’ changing room while I was alone. His response was that the security staff “could go anywhere they like.” At no point did he acknowledge the impact this had on my privacy, apologise for that aspect of the incident, or suggest that the hotel’s procedures would be reviewed to prevent it happening again. Equally disappointing, despite the distress caused and the fact that we left without receiving the spa treatments we had booked, no goodwill gesture or attempt was made to resolve the situation. This response from management was particularly concerning and left us feeling that guest welfare was not being taken seriously.
For a luxury château and spa in Saint-Émilion, I would expect guest privacy, dignity and the security of personal belongings to be treated as fundamental priorities, and for all guests to be treated with the same respect and courtesy at all times. Sadly, our experience suggested otherwise.
Given both the incidents we experienced and the dismissive response from management, I would strongly caution others against staying here if this is the standard of care and accountability you can expect. If you value your privacy in a ladies-only changing room or expect your belongings to remain secure after locking them away, I would strongly recommend considering alternative spa facilities in Saint-Émilion.

26/04/2026: The salad wasn't great, which is a shame because the waiter and waitress were very friendly.
22/04/2026: The "post office bar" salad was generous and very good. I found the price a bit high, but the place is very touristy…

les caprices d'Amelie
Saint-Emilion
01/06/2026: A very disappointing experience. The €3 minimum purchase for card payments is clearly indicated, but the information is printed in very small type and easily missed.
When we went to pay, we realized our purchase didn't reach that amount. Since we didn't have any change, we explained the situation, but instead of looking for a solution or showing understanding, the shopkeeper asked us to add an extra item, even though we didn't need it. When we refused to buy something we weren't going to consume, he responded rudely, "What am I supposed to do?"
I can understand the limitations of card payments, but the way you treat customers is just as important. When you run a business, you also need to be at least somewhat pleasant and respectful to your clientele.
In addition to the particularly unpleasant welcome, I was surprised by the lack of hygiene observed during service. The vendor handles the baguettes directly with his bare hands, without using tongs, and isn't wearing gloves. Even more disturbing, he takes the money and then continues serving the bread with the same hands.
Unfortunately, this experience doesn't make me want to return.
30/05/2026: Hello, I wanted to give my opinion on this bakery. In my opinion, it's unsanitary and has no hygiene whatsoever. I asked for the bread to be served with tongs for hygiene reasons, because the cashier was handling the money, which bothered her, and she served me with a plastic bag and slammed the till shut after I paid. There's absolutely no hygiene. I don't understand why this bakery doesn't have a hygiene inspection.
