12/09/2026: Two years later, we went back to eat again to see if there had been any improvements to the food and decor. We arrived at 12:30 pm, and the owner thought it was 11:00 am. Plus, half the dishes were out, so we had no choice, and what little was left wasn't fresh. I just hope we don't get sick. I even got the impression we were bothering him; he was taking a beer break 🤪. Anyway, the restaurant was empty. Oh, and we did have quite a few aggressive customers (the flies were huge) 🤣. There's been no improvement in the food. I don't recommend the coffee; the cups weren't washed, and the decor looks like it's been stuck in the past. The atmosphere was very depressing 😥. I almost got depressed. In the end, it was a sad representation of Portugal, especially for someone of Portuguese descent. It's clear we won't be going back a third time. Before leaving, I gave the address of a painter, but there are so many things that need fixing. The only modern thing is the Dyson hand dryer.

10/09/2026: My review concerns only one dish: the mussels marinière. By far the worst mussels I've ever eaten... There was a sort of slimy residue oozing from them, and they were poorly cooked. Half of them were closed. The marinière sauce was practically nonexistent, just water and an onion. I couldn't taste the wine at all. As a side dish, there was a tiny portion of fries and a bit of bread (which was the only good thing, it must be said). In short, you finish the meal feeling completely unsatisfied. As for the setting, the view of the port is pleasant from the outside. But inside, everything looks dirty, and the hygiene in the kitchen seems more than questionable, judging by what you can see through the open door...

03/08/2026: Perfect service. The dishes were beautifully presented, well-garnished, and cooked perfectly.

02/08/2026: A quick stop in the cool shade under the misters to enjoy an ice cream. Special mention for the superb Caramelita, carefully prepared and generously topped. Excellent service.

26/08/2026: A cold welcome on top of the not-so-warm outside temperature. We're still looking for the 4-star rating in the reviews. To begin with, we were asked if we wanted to eat on the terrace facing the canal or on the regular terrace. Then, in the end, there was no choice. Because the tables set weren't the ones facing the canal, and they didn't want to set them for the arriving customers. Then, an unfriendly waitress who criticized customers as they left and spent her time complaining. The peach syrup is a challenge; try to find the peach in your glass. The starter was mediocre, €8 for half a plate. The charcuterie platter came from a Super U supermarket tray. Not worthy of an "Italian" restaurant. The goat cheese platter was good, but there was only one goat cheese croquette. The main courses were also mixed. The pasta carbonara wasn't carbonara. Just pasta with cream (very little) and bacon bits straight from a tray, barely cooked. Luckily, there was salt and pepper on the table to season it. It was better than it had been straight from the kitchen. And we were glad we had some because the table next to us didn't and asked for ours. The second course wasn't any better. Goat cheese and speck ham cannelloni. Without speck. Three tiny pieces of ham with fat practically fighting each other and tasteless goat cheese. You mostly taste the accompanying tomato sauce. It was also unpleasant to have our plates taken away as soon as we finished. A little more and they would have taken it away before we could even take the last bites. Philippe Etchebest should come and give cooking and service lessons. Because seeing the waiters and cooks go outside to smoke in front of you during service should not be acceptable. Nor a waitress who was unpleasant and turned away customers, practically shoving them from their tables. Even though there were still seats available and it was only 12:30 PM. Luckily, a waiter in a pink polo shirt raised the bar and the bill.

25/08/2026: Excellent little restaurant. Passing through for the holidays, the macaronade was fantastic. The service was also excellent. We'll be back.

26/09/2026: On the quayside, this place doesn't look like much, but once you're inside, it's quite pleasant. The food, however, is a different story. The waiters are inattentive and incredibly unresponsive (to say the least), rarely smile, and openly mock some customers amongst themselves. Lamentable. Disrespectful. The important thing is what's on the plate. The dishes are flavorful and beautifully presented. The swordfish is delicious. The wines are local and good. The value for money is okay.

24/09/2026: Surely one of the best restaurants in Sète – the value for money, the quality of the ingredients, the menu choices, the welcome and the service – it truly is an exceptional restaurant. There were five of us and we all agreed: go!

16/09/2026: My partner and I went to eat at this restaurant. We received our appetizers before our drinks. For our main course, we ordered a prawn risotto, which was actually just creamy rice with bits of raw vegetables and two prawns that were barely hanging on. I find that shameful for €30 a dish.

09/08/2026: An incredible Turkish restaurant. The vegetables are picked by the owners from their own garden, and you can taste the difference. Fresh produce with a wonderful flavor. The meat is tender. I highly recommend this establishment.

23/07/2026: For €17.50 we got a children's portion; we had to supplement our lunch at another kebab shop.

28/09/2026: I've been coming to this café for a few years now, and I was disappointed yesterday and today. The waiter wasn't very pleasant, had no sense of humor, and took the money instead of his colleague because the younger one didn't have time. He made it very clear that we were bothering him.

17/10/2026: Marie Jean in Sète completely won us over. The exceptionally friendly, attentive, and warm staff deserves special mention; they created a pleasant atmosphere from the moment we arrived. The fish dishes were superbly prepared, fresh, and bursting with flavor. It's immediately apparent that great emphasis is placed on quality and excellent cuisine. Families with children are also very welcome here. Children receive a warm welcome, making the restaurant visit particularly relaxing for the whole family. All in all, we enjoyed wonderful evenings with excellent food, friendly service, and a fantastic, inviting atmosphere. We will definitely return and wholeheartedly recommend Marie Jean!

14/08/2026: A must-stop in this part of Sète; there's always a great atmosphere, everyone is friendly, and the bar staff is fantastic.

28/09/2026: A perfect welcome, fast service, and excellent food. I recommend the mussels and fries + cruise package for €22. The staff on the boat, the manager, and everyone else were all fantastic – simply brilliant! Looking forward to the next time.

09/08/2026: Wow, the food here is INCREDIBLE - and I say that as someone who lived in Southeast Asia for many years. Such fresh and delicious dumplings, summer rolls and noodles. The kind woman behind the counter even wrote the number of minutes to microwave each dish on the containers! We had the best lunch and will definitely go back to try more dishes. 10/10 really great food, super delicious, recommend so highly.

28/09/2026: Still as good as ever. We thoroughly enjoyed the parillada. Our waiter Gil, whom we've known for years, provides top-notch food and service. Highly recommended.

23/09/2026: For the past 10 years, whenever we go on holiday to the South of France, we've gone to this place and it's always good. However, in the last two years, the portions have gotten smaller and smaller 😗 The staff is fantastic

04/06/2026: Very good, but for me 3 details are off: the restaurant listed in the yellow pages is missing, and above all the swimming pool: there is no ramp to go down the steps which are too high for a person with reduced mobility due to age or disability, and the same for the bathtub.

28/05/2026: Absolutely does not deserve its 4 stars. The room is tiny, the shower opens directly onto the bedroom without a door, and only the bed is adequate. The photos of the pool are misleading, but it's not there at all! The breakfast was mediocre. We regret this choice, but luckily it was only for one night!
