10/03/2026: A magnificent place, it's very pleasant to walk around.
09/03/2026: Easy parking before reaching the lake.
Several hiking trails are available.
The loop around the lake itself is very easy and takes about an hour.
We did the loop around the lake and Puy de Montchal (1407m): about 3 hours. You can bring a picnic (there was still a little snow on March 7th). Beautiful panoramic views.

20/03/2026: The food was excellent, the service was top-notch and attentive. My only slight complaint is the speed at which the dishes were served—too quickly when you have time to spare.
Perhaps you could ask your customers about this.
11/03/2026: A pleasant terrace and friendly staff, and simple and pleasant ways to eat on the sunny terrace when the weather is nice.

07/03/2026: We had a divine meal: the Truffade was very generous and delicious. The grilled Saint-Nectaire cheese, served with potatoes, ham, thick slices of raw ham, and a superb salad, was absolutely delicious—we couldn't finish it! However, we did order the "café gourmand," which was also very generous. Thank you for your hospitality; we had a wonderful time.

02/03/2026: A truly wonderful experience! We came with two young children and were warmly welcomed by a charming, smiling lady. Booster seats, high chairs, and even toys for the children were provided!
We had a fantastic meal: truffade and chicken supreme with blue cheese (the sauce was a special mention). For dessert, the homemade rice pudding and blueberry tart were superb.
We'll be back! :)
28/02/2026: An unforgettable evening in this cozy little restaurant. The two servers were incredibly attentive. By calling three days in advance, we were able to reserve a fondue bourguignonne with truly excellent beef and impeccable homemade sauces! The owner is a former butcher who really knows his stuff. He, his wife, and the staff all went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Probably the best fondue bourguignonne I've ever had in a restaurant! We'll be back with pleasure! Thank you so much for everything!

21/03/2026: when we booked the hotel it said the restraunt would be open ,one of the reasons we chose this place.3 days before our arrival we were informed the a la carte would not be available ,also they would not supply towels for the swimming pool.Too late for us to change hotel!!Their reason was that it was to early in the season?Not our fault.We were also told we would be the only guests staying,as tho"this was some kind of privalage.When we went down for breakfast there were 12 people having breakfast.....so much for it being out of season!!! I,m afraid I came away feeling like I had been lied to,this has left a bad taste .I can not recommend this hotel.

The couple who run the place do everything to satisfy their customers, offering excellent local cuisine at reasonable prices, making it very good value for money. The dining room isn't large, so it's definitely best to book in advance.
15/03/2026: Great time outdoors, delicious burgers and hot dogs to die for, paired with a nice pint of La Bergère. So good, thanks to the super friendly team! 🥰

07/02/2026: The owner was friendly and kind, we stayed one night and that was more than enough! There's a huge need for renovation to justify charging €110 a night! (Intermittent hot water, poor quality bedding, musty-smelling towels), the bedroom door was difficult to open – perhaps they should provide a crowbar at reception? 🤔 At breakfast, the owner, always very kind, seated us at a table, but his daughter came in yelling that we shouldn't sit there 🤔 Coordination is essential in this kind of work... Still in the same aggressive tone, she told us "you have to go there"... if you don't want to do this job, you shouldn't do it, especially when you have a hotel in this state of disrepair, restored in 1930, and even then! 😂 Afterwards, we paid around €160 (breakfast included!). His daughter wants us to pay another 30 euros for breakfast, even though it was already included with the room. And when we point it out, she haughtily tells us, "Well, that's fine, we don't charge anyone," and walks away... 🤔 Something's not right here. The location certainly helps fill a hotel in this state! It's blatant robbery at that price; I think 30 euros a night would be a much better rate for this establishment. Absolutely avoid this place—the worst hotel we've ever stayed in!
24/01/2026: Very welcoming hosts, they went out of their way to accommodate a special diet, and were very friendly. A very cozy corner by the wood-burning stove. It was wonderful to be able to sleep in a 14th-century building!

11/01/2026: We stumbled upon this place and made the mistake of not reading the reviews. Being well-intentioned, we thought we'd form our own opinion: apart from the young waitress who was on her first day and very pleasant (hence the two stars), there seems to be a competition for the lowest rating, with absolutely no effort made (cold crepe, lukewarm sauce in a cup...). All the reviews are unfortunately accurate, which ruins our trip to Besse. In short, definitely avoid this place!
