28/04/2026: I'm always pleasantly surprised by the meals served, from appetizer to dessert. They're as visually appealing as they are delicious, the welcome is warm, the service is quick, and above all, the ingredients are fresh and the price is very attractive. Reservations are highly recommended.

20/06/2025: Boulets de poulet? Chicken meatballs? Really ? What happened to French gastronomy? The sauce was good, But the meatballs had no herbs, no spice..blech. I should have gotten the fish. Tiramisu needs coffee liqueur or marsala or .... Glace vanille? Peut être s'il est fait maison, mais je m'en doute. Price reasonable €14

19/04/2026: A really lovely very French restaurant in a stunning location. Classic dishes all served very well made with fresh, in-season produce. Very generous serving of dessert wine instead of pudding for me! The river is absolutely stunning and once night descends you're treated to a display from the well trained team of beautiful Giant Peacock Moths. Apparently this is the first year they've had them and there are currently 5. I'm attaching my best attempt at a photo. There are other sights to see very close by too including the Roc d'Enfer. Huge car park so no challenge there either. Definitely recommended.

14/04/2026: Lunch on the way back from vacation, so unplanned... no problem finding something to eat. Excellent restaurant. Welcoming. Offers set menus at lunchtime on weekdays.

06/04/2026: A very pleasant surprise at a roadside stop. An unexpected stop in Chauvigny and a superb little meal. The beef tartare was just right. And the trout fillet was superb!

29/12/2025: An unassuming village restaurant. Perfect traditional French cuisine at an unbeatable price for the quality. (Homemade) Aperitif, starter, main course, dessert, and a glass of wine €21. Hard to beat... Starter: Forest-style savory pastry Main course: Duck breast with forest mushroom sauce and chanterelle mushrooms, served with dauphinoise potatoes and celery root purée Dessert: Red berry panna cotta Highly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

09/05/2026: Order taken today around 4:50 PM. Just one person to serve, seemed overwhelmed but managed. However, the burger was disgusting, the bun was still frozen. I won't be coming back.

The welcome is warm and the service is attentive. The atmosphere is friendly and pleasant, perfect for having a good time. An excellent restaurant in Poitiers that I highly recommend!

10/03/2026: Everything in this well-located little hotel is designed to ensure guest satisfaction: a warm welcome and attentive staff, a comfortable room, private parking, a restaurant with delicious food (our dog 🐕 loved it too 😃). The value for money is also excellent; we highly recommend this establishment and will gladly return.

04/02/2026: What a delightful surprise this restaurant was!!...a client, Evelyne, whom I met in Chauvigny, recommended it for lunch...easy to get to and a very pleasant atmosphere... The staff were incredibly attentive and caring (they cleared away breadcrumbs between courses and changed cutlery after each course...) and the lunch menu included an exceptionally tender and moist stew...the starter was divine and the dessert lived up to the rest of the meal...in short, a truly wonderful experience that I highly recommend!! Thank you to the entire team at Le Lion d'Or!

25/11/2025: Upon entering, we were asked to wait for a chair with a note on it. The entire restaurant was full of partitions, making it feel a bit claustrophobic. We were placed in a corner without a view outside. (See photo). Furthermore, the waitress rushed us as if we had to leave quickly. The food wasn't warm and the portions were small. No questions asked during the process if we had had enough or if we needed another drink. The price/quality ratio is disproportionate. Very expensive! A beautiful location outside, but not recommended inside.
