17/08/2024: Nice restaurant, service ok. The dishes are quite generous, we liked the tartare as a starter. On the other hand, for the dishes/desserts, we found that it remained quite common, very good but nothing transcendent compared to what we have already tasted elsewhere and less expensive. This remains a good address, which remains a little excessive in terms of price. Ex: a glass of Saint Emilion for €22…outch

26/08/2024: Facing the port of Minimes, this restaurant with its shaded terrace ticks all the boxes 😃 Two formulas to offer even on weekends, a slate which offers new homemade dishes every day. The oysters from the Ile de Ré are a marvel and the freshness of the cooked products is top notch. Thank you for the professionalism of the servers. Perfect service. I came there on a Saturday evening with friends and returned the next day at noon. I highly recommend.

24/08/2024: Very good restaurant, very often full because it is a victim of its success, well done keep it up, we ate very well, very fresh fish, my husband enjoyed it and so did I. Thanks again to the young man who provided the service and who, in winter, is a Sea Rescuer. Thank you for your kindness and caring towards me because of my diabetes. Your boss may be happy to have an employee like you, thank you to the whole team 🫶🏻.

25/09/2024: I was staying near La Boussole and I tried to visit on my 2nd night in La Rochelle. When I went to the door, and mentioned “table for one” the waitress made a face, went off and spoke to whom I assume was the manager and came back and said they were full, but I was welcome to sit outside - it was raining. No offering of wait a few minutes, some tables are finishing up etc. I walked away and had an excellent meal in Les 4 Sergents nearby. On my last night I thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt and once again asked for my “table for one”. This time I was brought inside, and seated in their middle area. Unfortunately for me (and not the restaurants fault) there was a very loud table of over 20 boisterous men sitting beside me. This area has a very low ceiling, and the noise was somewhat overwhelming. I then ordered my food. Starters were a very well / over cooked deep fried prawn dish. The salad dressing was tasty but it was definitely in the frier a tad too long. Then came my awful main course. A pile of grease is how I’d best describe it. Soggy chips that were cooked in old oil and left sitting around. A burger than looked like something sat on it, covered in grease. And a reasonable salad. I barely touched the fries or burger and when the waiter took it away they didn’t even remark that hardly anything had been eaten. With my limited French I couldn’t even begin to explain. Dessert was a green creme brulee… a very strange colour for a dessert, reminded me of something shrek would eat. But it didnt taste too bad. The food is below average and the staff are non engaging. I had wonderful food during my trip to La Rochelle & met some wonderful staff in restaurants who smiled and talked to me even tho there was a language barrier but my trip to La Boussole was definitely a low point. There are much better restaurants to spend your time and money in.

24/08/2024: While passing through La Rochelle, we stopped at Chez Albert for breakfast. The products are excellent and homemade, the service is impeccable!

15/06/2024: Our last meal before we left La Rochelle. All meals were good, the steak, the pork(plat du jour) and the dessert (cream brûlée). If I go to La Rochelle again, I must come their restaurant again.

15/08/2024: Lieu agréable dans la rue saint Nicolas. Nous y sommes arrivés à l’ouverture et le restaurant s’est vite rempli. Très belle pizza avec une bonne pâte. Assiette de spaghetti carbonara pas mal aussi (dommage pour la crème dans un resto italien) Salade bonne également mais aurait mérité d’être mieux triée. Personnel souriant et agréable. Pas trop d’attente.

14/08/2024: Nous avons été accueillis très chaleureusement par Pedro. Nous avons trouvé le concept très original d’aller choisir soi-même, la bouteille de vin dans la cave. La Pizza quatre fromages est une petite merveille, je la recommande Jambon de Serrano et parmesan, excellent sans oublier, pour finir, un grand choix de dessert aux subtiles saveurs

16/09/2024: Très bon resto sur La Rochelle. Ambiance de montagne. De bon produits. La fondue savoyarde pour deux est copieuse et délicieuse. Le personnel est gentil et accueillant. Une valeur sûre.

23/08/2024: Friendly welcome, excellent cuisine, friendly atmosphere and all that for a ridiculous price (value for money). What a nice surprise to come across people who really love their job. I highly recommend.

14/09/2024: Upside : Fast service, you won't have to wait between dishes, and they have oysters on the menu. Downside : No gastronomy there, far from it. This is more like cheap high school cafeteria or canteen cooking. And it's expensive.

18/09/2024: Located 100 meters from the old market of La Rochelle A small interior room When the weather permits, tables outside and on the square opposite. The service is dilettante The location is nice but the setting is not.

22/08/2024: Very nice cafe with a great atmosphere. The graphics on display are very nice and match the style of the cafe. Unfortunately, the smell in the café was a bit strong. I can't say whether it was the cheese used in the kitchen or something else, but it somewhat clouded the overall picture. But the café is definitely worth recommending.

17/08/2024: But then what a surprise this Restaurant. Meat lovers, this is your restaurant. And what about the decoration, I was very impressed by the window containing meat, it made me think a little of Australian restaurants. In short, nothing to say, the service is great, the quality is there, the flavor too, the quantity, I don't know what else to say other than that I will come back for sure. Indeed, parking is complicated BUT it's worth it. See you very soon, and yes I recommend +++ without any hesitation
