15/08/2026: Lunch today, August 15th. Before we even finished our aperitif, the starter was already on the menu. Reheated spring rolls. Dry beef with onions. The side noodles weren't Chinese noodles. Pleasant staff.

05/08/2026: Simply the best Asian restaurant in Nancy and the surrounding area, thanks to the warm welcome from the owner and the waiters and waitresses who are always very attentive, smiling, and welcoming. The dishes, prepared by the chef, are incredibly refined, and the fresh ingredients tantalize the taste buds. Thank you again for these delightful moments.

30/08/2026: Nothing to add except that it's a very good restaurant that I highly recommend to lovers of Asian food. Sokhon and Frédéric do a remarkable job. Excellent dishes and superb decor filled with Sokhon's magnificent paintings and Frédéric's drawings.

26/08/2026: I pointed out the inedible, overcooked pork ribs to the waitress, who refused to budge, saying, "That's how you eat it." Worse, she charged me for a dish I barely touched. I finally gave in out of sheer frustration. The dishes were generally too salty. This is a place to avoid in this neighborhood.

10/09/2026: We had been looking forward to our visit for years. I’ve waited quite a while before writing this to gather my thoughts. I’m not in favor of dashing out negative reviews often but sometimes you have to, hopefully as a wake-up call to a restaurant that used to get only great reviews but more recently is receiving more of the feedback we’re about to give. Arguably, looking forward to a meal for years, how can something live up to it? The thought of combining mainly Chinese dishes with French elegance sounded genuinely amazing to us as fans of both. Cheval D’Or took everything exciting out of East Asian cooking and replaced it with mostly crème fraiche and vegetable puree crèmes. Bland, watered down copies of originals, sometimes underneath some caviar as a thin veiled attempt to level it up. How you can get a mapo tofu bland is beyond me. Not to mention the crème spring roll. (Tastes of crème, Ce ca) This being by far the most expensive meal we’ve had this round made the bland aftertaste linger even longer. We did notify the staff of our dissatisfaction politely and quietly. Resulting in mostly an awkward atmosphere. We settled up before the main course with a little bit of a discount- we had seen enough and I got physically unwell (presumably not related to the meal, yet I have to say watching almost 300 disappear within 40 minutes for mostly veggie purree was sickening, despite the discount.) i eventually took the blame. We tried to not make them feel too bad or not alarm other guests in the process. The first time we’ve ever walked away. We’re very sad about this encounter. I hate writing stuff like this, making undoubtedly hard working people feel bad. Food is genuinely our largest passion, I hope Cheval d’Or rediscovers theirs. I look forward to seeing visitors and friends of ours writing raving reviews again in the future. Until that time. This review remains up as our genuine experience.

We enjoyed every bite: delicious food and impeccable service 👌 It's a shame we live so far away… this restaurant would probably have become our regular spot 😍 But one thing is for sure: we'll be back to try everything else! A truly exceptional restaurant with fantastic specialties, the kind you just don't find anymore. Go in without hesitation!

13/09/2026: With the children, we were going to see and listen to La Fontaine's Fables nearby... and while looking for brunch... we stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant. The carp under our feet attracted my little shrimp, who were fed by the staff... To top it all off, the meal was delicious, and the children were treated to a little surprise at the end! No one regrets brunch!! The children's smiles delighted me!! 🥰😍😋
