Friendly staff welcomed us and served a delicious entrecôte.

20/07/2026: The location is superb, served by the restaurant La Sapinière. Frankly, avoid it. It's a nightmare in the kitchen. The menu is expensive compared to the quality served; the goat cheese in the salad is inedible, the trout has no taste, and the cooking is careless.

17/05/2026: A single set menu for €17: a buffet of starters, main course, dessert, and a quarter-liter of wine. Plenty of choice, perfectly acceptable quality, and generous portions.
No separate menu for children. Not a big deal, really, given the price. Except when you ask to swap the wine for another drink and are told they'll get... a carafe of water 🤣 A splash of grenadine would have been fine... Oh well!

01/06/2026: I've been participating in the transhumance in the beautiful village of Saint-Lary for three years now, and I've stayed at this hotel for three years. The welcome is very warm and the room is more than adequate. The restaurant is very good, quick, and efficient.

30/05/2026: We stayed at the l’Isard hotel during a bike tour through the Pyrenees. After a long stage of 112km and 200m of elevation gain we arrived at the hotel and were welcomed by Florence. A very kind woman who adapted to our demands, especially during dinner! We were hungry!!
Very nice place, next to a river where we cooled off, in a very beautiful village ☺️

29/06/2026: Passing through Mirepoix at lunchtime today, the three of us, after having a drink, decided to stay for our lunch break. A great idea!! Generous portions, fresh ingredients, beautifully presented, served with a smile...two beef carpaccios and a Dalida burger, a real treat!!... Thank you to Sandrine, Cannelle, and Natacha...don't change a thing!!

07/06/2026: We arrived unexpectedly on a Saturday evening, June 6th, 2026, at 8 pm, with 11 people. We received a wonderfully warm welcome. The meat was perfect, the cassoulet perfect, the foie gras perfect, and the presentation of the meat before cooking was exquisite. I highly recommend this restaurant.
07/06/2026: Amazing place and hosts, such lovely people. After travelling through the Pyrenees for two weeks, we finally felt like we ate proper, good French food. It was trully excellent, best meal we had all trip. We hope to come back here one day and regret staying in Aulus-les-bains instead of here. If you are planning to explore the area, I would definitely recommend this hotel as your base. Or also just for a one night stop or to eat. We also saw an otter swim as we sat at our table overlooking the river. The owners can tell you all kinds of amazing things about the region and they are happy to have a chat with you which is great if you're looking for things to do

The starters, in particular, are exceptional! And the value for money is excellent!
09/08/2026: The food is very good. The menu is varied. The staff is lovely. They offer different menus for smaller or larger appetites, and I can choose according to my dietary restrictions. I always find something suitable on the three-course meal (starter/main/dessert).
Thank you to them for making changes when I request them.
I highly recommend it!

The change of ownership has destroyed what made this place so charming.
No, preserving the setting isn't enough!
You need a passion for cultivating local produce with well-prepared traditional dishes.
The garbure (a hearty vegetable and meat stew) is more like onion soup.
The meat isn't seared properly and is undercooked, even though it's cooked over a wood fire… the fire isn't burning hot enough in every sense of the word…
The suckling pig has lost its flavor.
The kidneys and sweetbreads are gone…
And the same goes for the lavish desserts of yesteryear.
In short: a huge disappointment that must have already spread, since in the middle of summer the chairs are already empty and you can book at the last minute, whereas before you had to book several weeks in advance. P.S.: The €25 credit card imprint per person for the reservation is undoubtedly designed to ensure that those unaware the iconic owners are no longer with us leave as soon as we arrive!

We had a fantastic time in this charming and authentic place.
The welcome was very warm, the atmosphere friendly, and the food truly delicious. The dishes were generous and flavorful, made with excellent ingredients. You can immediately feel the passion and attention to detail.
The setting is lovely, with a traditional inn atmosphere that makes you want to slow down and fully enjoy the moment.
We wholeheartedly recommend this place, both for the quality of the food and for the warm welcome and ambiance. We will definitely be back!
