23/08/2026: On our way home from our granddaughter's wedding, we booked this place, wanting to experience something different from the chain hotels where we'd lived and worked for over 40 years. What a wonderful discovery and a great hope for the future of French hospitality! As a long-time expat from the Auvergne region, I rediscovered the pleasure of a perfect welcome, a beautifully modern hotel, a cozy and inviting room, and a refined meal presented with detailed explanations of local products. Our only regret is that we weren't able to compliment the discreet yet incredibly talented young chef, who was undoubtedly very busy in the kitchen. The Luma Orange Blossom sparkling water from L'Inventerie is a delight… We're talking about you a lot and wish you great success in your future career.

21/07/2026: We arrived around 2:00 AM. They didn't have the salmon filling. The server was quite confused. My crepe was supposed to be without cheese, and he added cheese. My husband's crepe was overcooked because he only realized afterwards that it didn't have salmon and asked us to choose another filling. Each crepe costs €7.50.

02/01/2026: Fantastic, thank you so much! The chef is a true professional, the rooms are spotless, the dining room is magnificent overlooking the Arzon River, and the portions are generous. On New Year's Eve, I was dining alone, and the chef prepared a beautiful platter for me, including foie gras, smoked salmon, and more. As a former caterer, I mean it: BRAVO, a true pro! I'll definitely be back soon.

19/08/2026: A delightful surprise in Les Estables! Don't let the unassuming appearance of the building, nestled on the hills above the village, bordering the forest, put you off… La Maison Forestière is truly worth a visit! We had lunch there as a family and were won over by the set menu at €30, which offers incredible value for money. The menu inspires confidence right from the start: it showcases the many local producers who supply the establishment with fresh, carefully selected products. The starter, an Ardèche platter, is simply exceptional! A generous, colorful, and beautifully composed plate, where each little dish is a discovery: crispy goat cheese, pork terrine with chestnuts, falafel, green salad, lentils, melon and watermelon balls, caramelized onion, shredded red cabbage, olives, gherkins… and many other delightful surprises. The dish was so stunning when it arrived that we completely forgot to take a picture: we immediately devoured it! At that altitude, it's understandable that we were hungry! And above all, it was hard to resist such an appetizing plate… Then came the main course, with a choice of meat or fish of the day. We chose the pork loin, accompanied by a slice of herb-infused caillette (a type of pâté), wholegrain mustard, and a homemade sauce. And again, what generosity: four different side dishes: porcini mushroom purée, sautéed zucchini, risotto, and orzo with tomatoes. It was hearty, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. And dessert was the perfect ending to the meal: a plum and almond tart with whipped cream, a scoop of strawberry ice cream, blueberry panna cotta, and fresh fruit, all accompanied by a delicious verbena sauce. A true festival of flavors! The service is on par with the food: pleasant, friendly, and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Kudos to the owners for this wonderful restaurant! Generous, locally sourced, carefully prepared, and incredibly fresh cuisine at a truly remarkable price. We absolutely recommend this place! And above all, don't let yourself be discouraged by some negative reviews which, in our opinion, don't reflect our experience at all. We had a fantastic time as a family and will definitely be back!

19/08/2026: Excellent, very friendly. After a hike, we arrived at the end of service and they were no longer serving, so we decided to have a drink. They still managed to find us something to eat (pork loin) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Located at the foot of Mont Mézenc, the welcome and the food were top-notch. Thank you!

27/07/2026: A Michelin starred restaurant in the middle of nowhere is a rarity and this one is well worth the detour. Because, unless you are staying overnight you will have a long drive home on mountain roads ghere is an excellent selection of alcohol free drinks which can be paired to the dishes. Creative use is made of local produce in all dishes, and some of the ideas will be integrated in my own cooking. The meal was a delight from the first flavour explosion of the amuse-bouche soft cheese and herb croquette to the little tart with the coffees.

12/09/2026: We arrived at 8:30 pm and were accepted for dinner, but with a choice of only five galettes. The service was adequate. Coming from Brittany, we found the galettes bland (not much buckwheat flavor).

09/06/2026: A lovely, quiet building with simple yet comfortable rooms. A very warm welcome and the hotelier is incredibly attentive to guests. A generous and varied breakfast is provided. The restaurant, with its refined menus created by the owner, is worth the trip alone, with a special mention for the homemade foie gras... absolutely delicious, served in a pleasant dining room by attentive staff.

19/07/2026: A very pleasant experience. We enjoyed our meal, the service was excellent, and the waiter was friendly and welcoming. The food was superb; we thoroughly enjoyed it. The children had vegetables, salad, and potatoes, which was a nice change and very welcome. The main course was high quality, but the dessert was nothing special and expensive for what it was (make up your own mind!). Go there, stop by, and enjoy! You can eat inside or outside.
