09/06/2024: We were very excited to dine at the most reputed restaurant in Fontainebleau, our last stop on a great Loire Valley tour. Unfortunately, Axel did not meet our expectations. The food was very limited and seemed to be mostly foam. However, what most upset us was the champagne we were offered as a drink as we were settling in and reviewing the menu. In France, nice restaurants typically offer you a glass of champagne or sparkling wine to get settled in and this drink costs between 10 and 15 Euros. But at Axel, this glass cost 32 Euros!! Half the price of the whole wine pairing of 5 glasses! We honestly would have been okay with the dinner, thinking it a bit expensive. But when we got the bill and saw the cost of the welcome drink, we were absolutely outraged. This ruined the good experiences we have had throughout our time in France.

The welcome and impeccable service, thank you to the young people. Great wine list. I recommend this place which overlooks a beautiful garden with a terrace. The best brunch. Thank you all Take the time to look at the site.

10/12/2023: I visited this place for the first time. The site is large, but, as there were no horses, it is difficult to judge without equestrian activity taking place.
