19/02/2026: What a pleasure to return to this charming, vintage little brasserie on Wednesday, February 18th! It's perfectly preserved, with its bistro tables and zinc bar, complete with boxing gloves hanging next to the bottles of aperitifs and the article about this establishment that appeared in Var Matin (formerly La République du Var - La Provence). I'd like to take this opportunity to greet my talented colleagues (especially my excellent retired friend, Jacques Gantié, food critic) at this newspaper, now part of Nice Matin. The owner always provides a warm, courteous, quick, and friendly welcome, not to mention the home-style cooking, particularly the magnificent and delicious couscous that attracts a large number of regulars of all ages. And I couldn't even finish it, it was so generous! It's true that this couscous (served on Wednesdays and Saturdays) is a benchmark and truly unique! It's also beautifully presented in several courses. I finished with a delicious warm apple tart. Kudos to the chef! A truly excellent value for money, €24 including an aperitif, a good old-fashioned Suze, and coffee. As a result, we were compelled to return, if only to savor his renowned aioli on Fridays (with a small anisette) and to see his friendly owner again. Yes, there are still friendly owners out there!

09/03/2026: We came for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The welcome and service were very pleasant and efficient, and the food was generous, tasty, and very affordable. Don't hesitate!

25/02/2026: A delightful experience! A concise menu guarantees the freshness of the ingredients. I tried the sea bass tartare with blackcurrant, which was very good, nicely tangy. The dessert of the day, a poached pear in chestnut cream with whipped cream and pecans, was also excellent. Just one small drawback: although the restaurant wasn't full at the start of the season, the service between courses was a little too rushed. The starters could also be offered as main courses with a second price (e.g., the grilled sardines).

09/11/2025: Cute and cozy place. Service was a bit slow...for two people. Pleasant staff. The meal was good (we were expecting something other than cream and bacon for a carbonara...). The desserts: the pistachio crème brûlée was very good but not very generous (a thin layer in the ramekin). The raspberry tiramisu wasn't good. A shame.

05/10/2025: We are always very well received by the beautiful and friendly owner, and the pasta and Milanese escalope are the best on the peninsula.

07/09/2025: We had a wonderful week at this campsite. The managers are super friendly and always attentive. The mobile home was new and very comfortable, which made our stay enjoyable. One small drawback regarding the pool: the rules aren't enforced the same way for everyone. For example, Nathalie told us that jumping or playing with a ball wasn't allowed. My daughter kept hers in her bag, but one morning, while a group of children were already playing with a ball in the pool, she wanted to take hers out. She was then asked to put it away. This made her and other children feel unfair, which was a shame.

31/03/2026: I highly recommend this restaurant, which I discovered one lunchtime. The starter, main course, and dessert were delicious and refined, all for 24 euros. I'm very surprised by the negative reviews...

29/03/2026: At the end of March, in the middle of the week, not yet crowded, between our arrival and departure, TWO VERY LONG HOURS, and that's without even having coffee, which, by the way, wasn't offered to us; otherwise, you add at least 20 minutes. One waitress only for drinks and another, very young, for the food!!! Plus, we assume, the owner, who isn't too stressed and doesn't do much to help her staff speed things up. The €24 set menu, small portions, mediocre taste, my wife's dessert, prunes with anise and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, arrived half-melted on the plate, it was swimming in ice cream. A table next to us sent back a plate of mussels that were too cold. To top it all off, when it came time to pay at the counter, the waitress, who had walked past our table at least 50 times, asked me which table we were at, even though there were barely a dozen tables in use. LOL.

26/02/2026: A warm welcome, top-notch home cooking, smiling waitresses, and the cook's son, very kind and proud of the dishes prepared by his mother—and rightly so! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal; excellent value for money.

22/02/2026: The food was average, with most of the ingredients coming from Metro (confirmed by a waitress). However, the cakes were homemade by a pastry chef. The prices were reasonable, but the service... we were greeted by a kind of Primadonna (silver bomber jacket, sunglasses, Orlando style) who was absolutely unpleasant to the staff!

17/03/2026: I returned to Café Valmer after a few years with wonderful memories, but today's experience was unfortunately very different. I was looking forward to enjoying a nice piece of meat, but I was sorely disappointed: everything was sorely lacking in flavor. Whether it was the meat itself, the accompanying sauces, or even the dessert, everything was incredibly bland. It's a real shame because I had a much higher opinion of this establishment. I hope it was just an off day in the kitchen.

26/02/2026: Simple but very well-prepared food. The waitress was efficient and discreet. In short, a very pleasant time spent on a sunny February terrace.

18/02/2026: Let's be honest, I prefer the couscous from Picard. Nothing has any real flavor, everything is boiled or even re-boiled, the food is served on very cold plates (while yours is heated), so hurry up and serve yourself. Disappointment despite a previous visit two years ago when we recommended this restaurant, but what happened since then?? However, the staff were pleasant as far as we were concerned!

02/02/2026: We're still here as I write this. The couscous was excellent, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere really lovely. Thank you all, it was perfect (we're having mint tea and it's the perfect way to finish).
