22/09/2026: A lovely brasserie; the waitresses are welcoming, smiling, and helpful. I had a beef carpaccio with delicious homemade fries. The setting is pleasant, opposite a stone bridge and a large pedestrian terrace.

26/05/2026: A passionate traveler, it was by chance that I stumbled upon the Lion d'Or. And of course, this place left its mark. Normally, I don't bother reviewing the places I stay because everything is so sterile, so similar, and original, unconventional places have little or no reason to exist... But seeing the reviews and ratings piqued my curiosity and led me to dig deeper and understand. The owner is one of those people who are bursting with energy, talkative, intelligent, with a strong and memorable personality. Ultimately, I'd say divisive. But what an evening spent dining with other travelers and the owner! A feast, hastily prepared by our ever-attentive host, peppered with shared experiences and humor. These kinds of moments are part of travel, and they leave such a lasting impression. So yes, it's far from the norm. But if everything becomes standardized, what place is left for such unique individuals? See you soon, my friend. PS: Practice your chess! ;)

21/09/2026: The food was good. But how audacious is it to charge €3 for a tiny bowl of sauce? Especially when you don't offer any free alternatives. The service organization also leaves much to be desired. I'd also like to mention that when there's a slug in a salad, you replace the salad; you don't just pick the slug up with your bare hands and throw it away. They need to improve.

04/08/2026: The pizza wasn't great and wasn't cooked properly (see photo in comments). I wonder if the free bottle of wine was some kind of apology.

04/08/2026: After five calls, I was asked to wait, and then the call was disconnected... Total disappointment. I hadn't ordered from this restaurant in several years, and now I see I made the right choice. The ham, chicken, and cheese were roughly chopped, the crème fraîche was rather runny and dripping, the mozzarella was barely cooked, and the chicken was tough as if it had been cooked two days prior and then repeatedly reheated. I won't be going back!

04/08/2026: Really disappointed and seriously lacking in professionalism. They couldn't serve us right away. They told us to come back in 30 minutes, but when we returned, our food still wasn't ready. We asked them questions, and the owner didn't even answer! He had the nerve to take better care of his friends who were out eating. As for the meal, we ordered a plate, and everything was mixed together: wheat, fries, and meat. The fry sauce was mixed with the salad. Not good at all.

04/06/2026: Excellent value for money and impeccable, warm, and friendly service. We thoroughly enjoyed it. And a young man serving us was as charming as he was attentive. 👍 5-star kebab! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

06/09/2026: The staff are lovely, but the food is just okay. My pasta was pre-made, I think, and my partner's pizza dough was puff pastry—what a shame.

05/09/2026: We loved it, the quiet outdoor atmosphere, the cleanliness and the delicious food.

03/10/2026: We really like this little restaurant; it's a small, traditional buffet with a wok station run by Mr. Chau. It's true there isn't as much to eat as in other restaurants, and what's nice is that it's not noisy either.

03/10/2026: Regular dinner at Chau's. Everything is perfect. The buffet was excellent for us. It's a shame the owner doesn't recognize all her customers. But the food is very good. Great atmosphere. Thank you. Keep it up!

20/09/2026: It's impossible to leave Clamecy without trying their famous frog legs! A generous portion of delicious legs served Provençal style or with parsley and garlic, accompanied by fries and salad. 40 years of expertise! 28/08/2026: TERRIFYING: You have to wonder if there's even a cook in the kitchen... They can't even make a homemade quiche or a croque monsieur! On the plus side, they know how to open the lid of a package of pre-packaged ham. If you're going to eat frozen food, you might as well go to the supermarket a few meters up the road. How is this business still in business?

23/09/2025: Very nice view, unlike previous years. No one came to take our order and the waiter was pleasant, but the coffee with just a drop of milk (hazelnut flavor) cost over €2, which is outrageous.

13/09/2026: I waited 1 hour and 30 minutes at home only to have to cancel and go pick up the order myself, and then wait even longer! Honestly, you need to be more organized or at least warn customers that there will be a wait, because this is a disaster, especially when you have to work the next day. It's the first time I've ever had to wait this long for a kebab! Never again!

06/09/2026: I just called tonight and they told me, "Next time you call, I'll give you the drinks on the house." But actually, there won't be a next time. Let me explain: We ordered at 8 PM and got our delivery at 9:39 PM. The order came to €65, by the way. Not €10... We noticed the drinks weren't there; we immediately told the delivery driver. He said, "That's the third time this week they've pulled this stunt." And he left... We called a few minutes later and they told us they were sure they had included the drinks. The driver blamed the restaurant, and the restaurant blamed the driver. They said that next time, as an apology, they would give us the drinks on the house. Basically, at this point, we're sending the driver back with the drinks, or a cash refund. That's over €8 worth of drinks wasted. I was paying for everyone's kebabs for our move; I already live on a tight budget, so every euro counts, you understand. Anyway, it completely disgusted me. Or how to live in a world where everyone rips you off all the time.

30/07/2026: This place, which I particularly love, is one of my favorite spots in the region. The welcome is warm: Always a great atmosphere, impeccable service, charming people, and a loyal and genuine clientele. I highly recommend it.

17/05/2026: Marie is very attentive to her guests and is an excellent cook. The inn is in the center of the village. A very quiet place, guaranteed rest. 6 km from the Nivernais Canal. Marie took into account the gluten-free diet and brilliantly adapted the meal. Well done! Françoise
