01/03/2026: I received a very warm welcome. The staff was very friendly and offered excellent advice on the ambiance and wines. The food and meat were of high quality. The only minor drawbacks were that the fries weren't homemade, which is a shame given the quality of the meat. Also, the chestnut cream tiramisu didn't have enough chestnut flavor. Otherwise, I highly recommend this restaurant.

12/12/2025: I tried one of their most famous sandwiches, a round bread roll with carrots and a yellow sauce. It had an oniony taste. Honestly, the taste wasn't to my liking. The gingerbread was very hard and spicy. I didn't like that either. Their pistachio cakes were delicious. I tried those varieties. Still, it's the only place in Strasbourg where you can find gluten-free options, and they have so many sweet and savory choices, you should definitely give it a try, you'll find something you like.

22/02/2026: The meal was excellent. The service was a little late, but I understand, the restaurant was full. The servers were friendly and attentive to each table. We were a bit cramped with the other tables; it would be great if the tables could be spaced out a bit more, even if it meant removing one or two.

17/02/2026: I discovered Le Fossile several years ago, and it has definitely become a must-visit on every trip to Strasbourg. It possesses a traditional charm that blends perfectly with home-style cooking and evokes the best memories, far beyond fleeting trends. Fresh, high-quality ingredients. The foie gras and snails are exquisite. Their signature dish, the hanger steak, prepared in all its forms, is a marvel. The icing on the cake: the Armagnac collection (dating back to 1912!!) is the perfect finishing touch for any evening—a little insider tip: ask for your birth year. I can only guarantee one thing: I will be back again and again.

24/02/2026: Back from my trip, I returned to this restaurant where I had very fond memories of a previous visit. Unfortunately, this time the experience was very different. The welcome was pleasant but clearly rushed. We weren't in a hurry, yet we felt real pressure throughout the service, which is a shame when you're simply there to enjoy yourself. I chose the vegetarian dish of the day, which looked very appetizing on paper. When the plate arrived, I was a little disappointed by the portion size. I took the liberty of making a very measured and constructive comment, being very careful because it's really not something I like to do. In response, the owner became very aggressive, speaking to me in a patronizing manner, explaining that I couldn't read the menu and that if the side dish was listed last, it was normal that there wouldn't be much of it. This reaction deeply shocked me and completely ruined my experience. Given the quality of the daily special and the service, the price seemed clearly excessive. I also felt that the vegetarian options were somewhat neglected, although this is just my personal opinion. Knowing the restaurant industry, I know there are many other establishments available today that are less expensive at lunchtime, with far superior quality and sometimes even superior technique. I don't usually leave negative reviews, and I waited several days before writing this one. Leaving the restaurant, this situation even caused me considerable anxiety, which is truly regrettable for what was supposed to be a pleasant experience.
