12/08/2026: While cycling the Vagabonde, we received a very warm welcome. A friendly, no-frills campsite. I loved it. For campers, the owner reserves a shady spot by the stream. Perfect. Note that the restaurant is closed in the evening, but the bar remains open ;-) The swimming pool is a welcome treat after a day of cycling.

05/08/2026: Bike-friendly accommodation for two overnight stays. A quiet and shaded spot. The facilities are clean. The pool is lovely. We really appreciated the friendly atmosphere and the genuine, welcoming attitude of the managers.

04/08/2026: We were very puzzled by the welcome... Although courteous, the owner informed us that they were full as they were expecting a group. While out for a drive, we passed by the restaurant again 30 minutes later, and it was still empty. We continued our drive 30 minutes later and saw that there was still no one there... Was the refusal to serve us due to our tan? We'll remain with this question and, in the meantime, do not recommend this restaurant.

02/08/2026: Despite arriving late, I was greeted and served with kindness. Starter, main course, cheese, dessert and coffee for a total of €18.

28/05/2026: I was ripped off. I paid twice as much for a label maker and printing ribbons as I would have at Bureau Vallée, which was just across the street. I went straight back to the store to explain, but they refused to give me a refund even though their equipment had just come out of the store. It's a disgrace to sell a product to professionals for more than double what it should be sold for. I no longer trust Rétif.

05/09/2026: The locals' café... The owner is elderly but very welcoming, everyone knows each other, kisses are flying everywhere... people call out to each other from table to table... I'm here as a tourist... No problem... after 5 minutes I'm invited to join the conversation... France as I love it!

12/07/2026: Great village café/bistro. Everyone knows each other, everyone is friendly, welcoming, polite, and helpful. It's a welcome change from city brasseries.

20/09/2026: Chosen late by default, this small hotel has no elevator and no luggage service. It's adequately equipped, though a bit outdated and old-fashioned. The reception was fine, but there was no restaurant during our week-long stay! Best suited for younger guests. Note that Canal+ is available.

23/08/2026: Very good hotel, pleasant and clean room, friendly welcome, parking available at the train station.

18/07/2026: Canteen-style atmosphere, different dishes for walk-ins and regulars. Single menu and single price even if you don't order starters. Dark and gloomy… boiled potatoes as the only side dish… But steak and fries for the staff who come for lunch. Definitely for their regular clientele.

13/07/2026: We used their services for a christening and everything was absolutely perfect. The food was delicious and the team was exceptionally kind.

05/09/2026: Not much effort. Not much choice. Just passing through, I ate adequately on a very noisy terrace. Difficult to rate, because given the dreary nature of this city, this restaurant does at least liven up the neighborhood a little! Fair price.

19/10/2026: Very disappointed. It's a shame because the dining room is beautiful, the food was good but nothing special, and the price is excessive. The service was completely inadequate; the waiter was filthy, with stains all over his clothes. Frankly, you wonder what the food is like. Please, make an effort with your appearance; it's important in this profession.

28/09/2026: An exceptional experience! We held our wedding reception at the Saint Étienne, including a cocktail hour, dinner, an overnight stay in a room at the hotel, and brunch the following morning. Everything was perfect, from the warm welcome and attentive service of the staff to the delicious food served throughout our stay, including the rooms. The dance hall was also made available to us, which was fantastic. Cocktail Hour: The appetizers were superb, the beer excellent (with kegs provided), and the kir and punch were greatly appreciated. The band was also very pleased with the welcome they received from the manager. Dinner: The foie gras was excellent, the meat tender as we like it, without any tough bits. The cheese platter was impressive, and the frozen walnut soufflé was a true delight! Vegetarians were also able to enjoy a generous portion. The Brunch: Absolutely fantastic! Our guests and we ourselves were delighted with the Saint Étienne! We highly recommend this venue for a wedding or any other event. A fantastic team and service that exceeded our expectations!

29/09/2026: A huge thank you to Adeline for her service and communication at the drive-thru this evening; it's a real pleasure to rediscover the basic order-taking and customer service of this much-loved brand. Efficiency, speed, personalized service at checkout, and customer loyalty upon order collection: this approach reflects the brand's continued commitment to being what it aspires to be today. The products were also hot and of high quality.

26/09/2026: Great experience tonight at McDonald's Tulle. I had to wait for my order, which unfortunately wasn't complete (it was Saturday night, so that's understandable). They kindly offered me compensation, and I was able to choose a product to tide me over. A fantastic experience!

14/03/2026: A few years ago, while traveling from Alsace to the Landes region, I booked a room at "La Coloniale" bed and breakfast. I arrived around 5 p.m. on a Sunday evening in mid-October. The weather was rainy, dark, and gloomy, and there was no one at reception. I called the mobile number I had and reached someone who I was clearly bothering. The gentleman was invited to a friend's house for drinks. Barely polite, he questioned my reservation date. He did, however, explain how to access a room (Prune) which wasn't the one I had booked (Perle). There was no one to suggest a restaurant for dinner, so no dinner. The next morning, still no host, I dealt with a housekeeper, who was quite pleasant, for breakfast and to settle the bill for my stay. Conclusion: disappointed by this reception which lacked the most basic respect, this is not an address I recommend.

27/06/2026: Family-run hotel, very well located, very clean room and bathroom. The managers are welcoming and friendly. Dinner and breakfast are very reasonably priced; simple but good. No complaints 🙂 I'll keep the address in mind if I'm ever in the area again; I won't hesitate to return.

08/05/2026: There are still some clean, pleasant, inexpensive hotels where they might rip you off with an exorbitant breakfast price. Well, the Hotel de France is one of them. I recommend this reasonably priced hotel; you feel right at home.

25/08/2026: It was lovely to eat by the lake. I was a little disappointed because I was expecting to be practically right on the water, but it was still very nice. The food was good, but I didn't really like the dessert.

25/08/2026: The setting is lovely. I'm taking off one star for the price. I find this restaurant expensive. It's a shame there's no menu available on Sundays.

16/08/2026: Excellent, generously topped pizzas and, above all, a kind and attentive team who spared us from the downpour on August 15th. An unexpected experience that will definitely bring us back in better conditions next time we're in the area ;-). Keep up the good work, you deserve the best and much more than just 5 stars.

03/06/2026: Stayed for two nights whilst motorhome was being repaired in a local garage. The proprietress was very kind and understanding of our situation and went out of her way to help us with accommodation until our van was repaired. Hotel is ideally situated right in the centre of the village and is charming and traditionally French. I would thoroughly recommend a stay when visiting this lovely town.

22/05/2026: During a cycling trip, our group of 15 spent the night at the hotel and had breakfast the next morning before setting off again. We were delighted with the warm welcome from the owner, the rooms were clean, and the breakfast was very generous. I will definitely return for a few days sometime before next autumn.
