10/05/2026: Absolutely magnificent restaurant with a breathtaking view of the lake. The staff were attentive and friendly (with a little nod to the Pacherenc wine). The meal was simply wow. I 100% recommend this restaurant. P.S.: If you like iced coffee, try the espresso martini cocktail – a real gem!

02/05/2026: This is our fourth visit, and we were very disappointed compared to previous times. The €38 + €7 set menu with cheese was very disappointing. The scallop and asparagus salad had three scallops that barely fit together, and it was completely tasteless. A very ordinary dish. For my part, the foie gras was excellent, but the main course was a disaster. The veal was undercooked (they brought it back to cook, and they could have replaced it anyway). There were ten shriveled peas and stringy butternut squash. The side dishes were cafeteria-style. Fortunately, the cheese and desserts saved the day. We'll try again, but I hope with the same team as before...

08/03/2026: The booking, the welcome, the location and the meal, everything was perfect. Plus, the attentiveness and kindness were an added bonus.

15/01/2026: We had considered this establishment to celebrate my father's 80th birthday, in a place historically significant to our family since my parents had celebrated their wedding there 60 years ago. Originally, the event was expected to bring together about thirty people. However, based on our initial email exchanges with Catherine, we quickly felt like we were intruding. After proposing a date, we received a negative response, without any alternative being suggested or even being shown the menus. Faced with this lack of communication, courtesy, and consideration, we nevertheless tried to adapt by voluntarily reducing the number of guests, hoping to simplify the organization. Unfortunately, this approach was not met with any more respect or professionalism. During a visit by my mother to obtain further information, the manager adopted an openly contemptuous and inappropriate attitude. The presence of children was deemed problematic, the lack of a guarantee regarding wine consumption was criticized due to the restaurant's profit margin, and the final number of guests (16 adults and 5 children) was declared "unacceptable," before a flat cancellation and an invitation to leave. This behavior is all the more surprising given that this establishment is a traditional brasserie. Claiming a level of service that one never embodies, neither in the welcome nor in the customer relations, is, to say the least, disconcerting. This place is clearly not suitable for families, nor for organizing family events of any kind. More broadly, this experience raises questions about the vision of the profession held here. The restaurant business is based on hospitality, respect, and customer loyalty. 14/02/2026: It's difficult to give an opinion on the food and atmosphere, as we were simply refused service on a Saturday night at 10:55 PM (closing time displayed was 11:00 PM). Since closing time hadn't yet arrived, this is nothing less than a refusal to serve. If management reads this review, how do you justify your employees deliberately causing you to lose customers and revenue?

09/07/2025: We decided at the last minute to cancel our stay in Pontarlier, hoping to discover this little gem in the Doubs region. The breathtaking view of the lake, the elevator, the air conditioning, and the parking were the deciding factors in choosing this establishment. The reservation went smoothly, and it was with bad weather (wind, rain, and 14 degrees Celsius) that we arrived at Malbuisson. The reception by a woman from the North was exceptionally warm. Explanations were given with a big smile, and even assistance was provided to our room. It made us forget the winter temperatures. The suite has everything we need: space and luxury, very comfortable bedding, a large bathroom with a whirlpool bath and a walk-in shower. Two televisions with limited programs, but the Wi-Fi is very stable for streaming! The breakfast is partly buffet-style, partly served at the table with a big smile. The lady who prepares breakfast and also cleans the rooms is extremely kind and helpful. Nothing to complain about. Granted, we're in the upper range at €240 a night, but considering the location, comfort, and amenities, we consider it to be a decent value for money. Regarding the restaurant, we can't confirm the reviews that speak of inefficient service. We spent more than two hours at the table for three à la carte courses in a very full room. The menu is limited, but we knew that, which is why we only ate there twice. Burgers, salads, and two fish/meat dishes. The quality was acceptable. The second evening was much more disappointing. The foie gras was excellent, but the €36 piece of beef couldn't be cut properly with a steak knife or chewed. There were two meat dishes: the chef refused to prepare the pork ribs because of the heatwave; it should be noted that the temperature was 18 degrees at 3:00 p.m., barely 12 degrees in the evening, and below 10 degrees at night. Plus, you had to eat the main course with the cutlery you used for the starter. For an unacceptable bill of €150. My husband had ordered ice cream for dessert, I had an iced soufflé. My husband received his ice cream after fifteen minutes. I waited in vain for my dessert. Half an hour later, I decided to give up and ask for the bill when suddenly the soufflé appeared. In short, the hotel's value for money is good; avoid the restaurant. Le Reflets, 2 km away, offers gourmet cuisine at lower prices. Very popular with locals, so reservations are recommended.

19/06/2025: We made a reservation for 7:30 p.m. We arrived at 7 p.m. for an aperitif. The setting is beautiful. The service was slow, so we finally had to go to the bar to order. At the table, it was the same story. The order took a long time, and the main course was served at least 45 minutes after ordering. Regarding the prices. For the price of a main course, you can get the market menu at the Hotel de France (a gourmet restaurant in Villers-le-Lac, with an exceptional starter, main course, and dessert). There, clearly, 31 euros for 5 mini perch fillets, 2 mini trout and eel tartare quenelles, and dry fries. We paid for the view... the beers were offered to us in view of the wait... thank you. I won't be going back.

04/06/2026: Nice place. Lots to choose from and fast service for take out.

03/06/2026: I worked at the hospital in 2019 and I believe it's the best place to get a good meal after a day that started at 4 a.m.
