01/03/2026: Great hotel! It was really pleasant to stay here for a short weekend. The hotel is well located in relation to the city center and close to the train station. We came with our bikes, and it wasn't a problem at all! We received a warm welcome! The staff were kind and friendly. A special mention for Elodie, who is very friendly! The breakfast buffet is excellent, with very good local products. A water fountain is available, which is a nice touch. You can fill your own water pitcher (don't forget!) and your water bottle—very convenient. We highly recommend it!

16/10/2025: I've known La Source du Mont since the mid-1990s. It was always a great pleasure to spend time at this establishment. Madame Fournier ran the business with a masterful hand; nothing was left to chance, and everything was perfect. Among other things, she was very attentive to the food. Quality products were well prepared by a top-notch chef. The three chimneys and three cocottes awarded by Logis de France were well-deserved. The business was recently taken over; I went for dinner there in mid-October; it was a disaster. The welcome, the food, the service, and the customers—everything has fallen to the lowest level. I strongly advise against it...

29/12/2025: Hello, I'm finally taking the time to write, but please note that I was there at the end of August. I wanted to climb the Puy Mary, being a big fan of the Tour de France. On that sweltering day at the summit, I decided to ask for water at this restaurant, which was refused! I hope that if a tax inspector happens to see this, they'll read my comment because it's completely illegal, dangerous, and inhumane. Furthermore, the staff is appalling, odious, definitely avoid this place. While I was there, all I got was reprimands and yelling. They certainly take advantage of their tenants (the only positive thing about this restaurant) because I had the chance to talk to other customers who also found the service disgusting.

04/10/2025: I'm not usually picky, but I was disappointed. Apart from the "old-fashioned" look, which is acceptable (except for the shower stall), we had one bath towel for two when it was labeled "bath towel," no shower mat, a big leak on the floor after the shower...a shame.

24/01/2026: Keep walking, only stop if you're absolutely starving. We chose a €28 set menu and a €38 one. Two small verrines were offered, without any explanation of what they were. The waitress politely placed them on the menu without any explanation. They weren't bad. The "local charcuterie" platter was an insult to the people of Cantal! Three slices of sausage, two thin slices of tasteless ham, a tiny piece of fricandeau, and a piece of head cheese with a gherkin! In the land of charcuterie, it's unacceptable to offer this at that price! And what about the minuscule flank steak and its accompanying aligot... the flank steak was practically inedible, so tough. We ordered it medium-rare, and it arrived bloody for both of us. My partner couldn't even finish it, it was so tough. We mentioned it to the waitress... no response... The aligot was absolutely tasteless; I've never eaten such a bland dish, and it was served in a tiny pan! We couldn't even finish it, it was so tasteless. Only the dessert and the prawns were acceptable. It's simply unthinkable that they can offer such dishes for €28 and €38. It's a rip-off. Never again! I paid the bill, but I'm still furious! Once again, avoid this place...

02/04/2026: A fantastic welcome, a Cantal burger that actually tastes like Cantal, and oh my god, that truffade was pure bliss!

28/03/2026: I saw that my review wasn't accepted, so I'm moderating it, but I hope my vehemence and anger will still be visible. My partner and I were regulars at your establishment and have always been delighted... and now??? Nothing to salvage... almost a two-hour wait before being served (on the other hand, we get a "hurry up" from the owner when it's time to pay), and where has the quality that used to define you gone? Poorly cooked food, frozen fries... little flavor in the dishes... and friendliness gone. And given the number of comments along these lines, you could at least consider the veracity of our experience. I was looking forward to bringing friends to eat here... I'm ashamed. I will no longer recommend your establishment. A now disillusioned former customer PS: I forgot...we found a pebble in one plate and a dead bee in another.... (Review published in August 2022)

13/10/2025: Unobstructed and superb view from the terrace. The welcome was satisfactory, but the contents of the plates did not match the price paid. The meal consisted of few ingredients. The bill was too salty, which made you cough when you left.

29/10/2025: We have known and frequented this establishment for several years. It was with great pleasure that we returned this October for three nights. What can I say? The room is beautifully decorated and clean, the breakfast is very good, and Simone is wonderful. I highly recommend this guesthouse, which knows how to welcome its guests. It's very well located, just a stone's throw from Chaudes-Aigues and its thermal spa, Laguiole, and La Chaldette, another spa town. Thank you very much for your hospitality, and see you soon... 22/10/2025: Very pleasant stay. We were very well received in this old hotel, the entire space (bar, kitchens, lounge, etc.) was at our disposal. The rooms are very comfortable. Ideal for small groups of hikers.
