05/09/2024: Very beautiful setting. Original. The staff is very courteous and professional. And let's not talk about the kitchen, the Chef knows his stuff. Good value for money. I highly recommend.

01/09/2024: Magnificent experience to have dinner next door and already in the surrounding area in the middle of the FFA festivals without reservation or I was kindly delayed at 8:30 p.m. to have dinner for 2 people on the Place du Palet, it's up to you to look for the Saint André everything is perfect impossible to dine on the terrace because full but offered the waiter to find me a place as possible but we in the 2nd servervices magnificent place inside with air conditioning that we had after dinner impeccable value for money nothing to complain about. A place to discover

11/09/2024: Très déçu. Nous sommes habitués aux restaurants gastronomiques voire étoilés et nous sommes venus dans celui-ci sur recommandation. Après nous avoir proposé et servi l’apéritif, nous avons attendu une heure pour la prise de commande. Rien à redire sur le service et la qualité des plats jusqu’au dessert sauf une erreur sur une sauce corrigée dès que nous avons réussi à interpeler le serveur. Au dessert, les crèmes brûlées qui accompagnaient les deux cafés gourmands avaient tourné et étaient absolument écœurantes, tant au nez qu’au palais. Après que nous lui ayons signalé, le serveur l’a constaté immédiatement à l’odeur et s’est empressé de les retourner en cuisine. Ils les a remplacées très rapidement. Au moment de l’addition, à plus 500€ pour 6, aucun mot d’excuses et aucun geste commercial . C’est très bien d’utiliser et d’entretenir la réputation de l’ancien propriétaire, mais ça oblige, et ce ne fut vraiment pas le cas cette fois-ci.

09/09/2024: Nous avons déjeuné dans ce restaurant après avoir visité une maison de cognac toute proche. Heureusement que nous avions réservé car toutes les tables étaient prises. Nous avons pris le menu et en avons été pleinement satisfaits. Les assiettes sont bien dressées, les plats savoureux et les portions très correctes. Le service est aimable et efficace. Je recommande cette enseigne.

29/08/2024: We’ve lived in the area for a long time and have been to this restaurant many times with other members of our family. We always thought it was an ok place for reasonable meal…… nothing amazing but fairly reliable. On this occasion we were meeting someone else for lunch but we were the first to arrive for the reservation. We speak pretty good French but still have a bit of a English accent. The waiter seemed very busy and it took quite a while until we were able to ask for a drink. As I was driving and had planned on having a glass of wine with my meal I asked first if they had any low or alcoholic beer….unfortunately the verbal abuse that we received from the waiter was discriminating and quite shocking. He snarled at us and retorted that in the Charente ‘we only drink alcohol ‘ Apparently simply asking if they happened to have a non alcoholic beer was reason to be incredibly rude and patronising to customers who he obviously assumed to be tourists. We would have left at that point but as I said we were waiting for someone….the setting outside is lovely , the food is fairly average and not particularly good value but worst of all the waiter’s attitude was really quite unpleasant.

29/08/2024: c'était mon restaurant préféré ! Nous sommes allé y diner en famille pour le jour de mon mariage, très mauvais , j ai connu des cantines de routier meilleure et surtout plus sympathique, à part un jeune serveur qui s'est montré aimable avec nous, on a été aussi bien traité que dans une gare de marchandise ! Cela aurait pu passer si la nourriture avait été un minimum convenable, je ne suis vraiment pas une grande cuisinière et ben eux , ils arrivent à cuisiner plus mal que moi !

19/09/2024: Table réservée pour 16 personnes pour le déjeuner du circuit des remparts le dimanche 15 septembre, pas de problème, mais surtout venez à midi! Service de l’apéro un peu long mais ok. On nous prévient que l’on ne prend pas nos commandes repas car les cuisiniers sont débordés..... Et un moment après, on nous informe qu’ils nous offrent l’apéro et ne peuvent pas nous servir le repas!!! Ce n’est pas du tout correct, nous avons heureusement trouvé un établissement qui nous a servi mais, certains devaient partir en voiture à 14h et ne sont partis qu’à 15h et les autres ont raté tout le début des courses ! Il faut réfléchir avant de prendre des réservations messieurs!!!

06/09/2024: soirée entre filles pour boire un verre avec des tapas. très bien accueillies, service nickel. nous commandons differents tapas pour mixier. des gyozas aux légumes arrivent, sur lequel un filet de balsamique est déposé. je fais la remarque que je n'en mangerais pas n'aimant pas ça. et bien 10 minustes après j'ai vu apparaitre un plat sans vinaigre!! c'est ce que j'apelle prendre soin de ses clients, nous aons vraiment apprécié. et en plus ils étaient excellents ces gyozas!!! nous reviendrons avec plaisir!

04/09/2024: Habitué de la cantine, nous avons découvert le Lounge..un nouveau concept, une nouvelle direction qui a su garder les meilleurs de l'ancien personnel. Une nouvelle carte de restauration, une de tapas et planches à déguster jusqu'à 2H00 du matin, une première sur Angoulême. Un large choix de vins, de cognac et de rhum arrangés. Enfin un endroit sympa aux tarifs raisonnables !! A tester

16/08/2024: Restaurant qui propose notamment des grandes assiette telle que l'assiette perigourdine. C'est assez copieux mais plutôt cher pour la qualité.

05/09/2024: A lovely stop on our canal trip. Moored up in Jarnac (and drove 3 min; could have walked 18 min). Welcoming and jolly service. Abundant amuse bouche. Main courses of familiar ingredients but great originality. Deserts outstanding. Interesting and extensive wine list. Amazing range of cognacs. Excellent service and atmosphere. Enjoyed watching the chef through the window up a few stairs. Highly recommend!

17/09/2024: Second dinner at this establishment. Jovial and friendly boss. Fast ordering and efficient service. We ate very well. End of dinner with a very informative tasting and history of Cognac.

10/09/2024: I knew this restaurant before its takeover, and it was already very good. Not only is the quality always there, but the plates are plentiful and the service is very pleasant. My kidneys were cooked to perfection.

25/08/2024: We came here for lunch having checked it out on TripAdvisor where it achieved high rankings. The only downside in my view was that it lacked atmosphere, but I’m sure that was only because it was around 12:30 for lunch, and it seemed to be quiet in Angoulême in mid-August. In any event, we greatly enjoyed our meal. My wife had a delicious burger, while I had an excellent steak tartare, all washed down with an excellent local white wine. Very attentive service by our friendly waiter.

24/08/2024: Cave à manger avec une proposition de bière bienvenue ;) et des plats tout aussi adaptés pour la famille entière. Un accueil et un service chaleureux qui nous a régalé tout autant que la justesse des plats (cuisson, sauce maison) dans un endroit tamisé. Beau travail et belle continuation à toute l’équipe. Merci,
