24/08/2024: Venus en début de soirée sur réservation pour 6 personnes. L’accueil a été irréprochable et la prise en charge efficace. La suite est un peu moins top. Prise en charge rapide et expéditive entre la prise de commande apéritif et plat qui malheureusement est servi déjà tiède, voire déjà froid. Concernant le vin, nous avons simplement le droit de nous rendre dans la cave et choisir sans explication ni recommandations avec un choix très limité sur le rosé. C’est bien dommage.

11/11/2024: Very warm welcome, good food, nice and well heated room. Very good value for money The only downside was the breakfast served until 9am, much too early, 10am would have been perfect.

14/10/2024: Pleasant night spent as part of the Stevenson path. The room is comfortable and functional. The half board is quality; the dinner was very good (fish which is rare on the path!) and the breakfast was practical because it was also available before time in the form of a tray in the room (this allows the autonomy of hikers depending on their their departure time to reach Alès). The welcome is friendly and smiling. The hostel is a little outside the city (and the GR).

30/11/2025: This place is a disgrace! They make fun of the customers and their employees, especially the new ones. What is the world coming to?! They'll recognize themselves; they're the two oldest in the bakery. I'll never set foot in there again, nor will I give them my money, because they are truly haughty and disrespectful. Ugh! I confirm the other reviews that say the same thing. Where is the manager? Plus, their tarts are undercooked, especially the pastry. They don't taste very good... a real disgrace. And on top of that, these women are like radar guns, watching and peering everywhere. No need for security cameras, as if we were about to steal! The saleswoman serves you with her mouth full, and on top of that, she puts the chocolates on the shelves without gloves! That's completely unhygienic.

23/11/2025: This Sunday morning, I went to Villaret's for Sunday breakfast: croissants and brioche. It was 7:40 a.m. I walked through the shop; I was the only customer. The display wasn't yet set up. I was facing four saleswomen who didn't see fit to interrupt their conversation. Almost a minute passed before the youngest of them deigned to give me a half-hearted greeting. I asked for croissants and brioche. "With sugar or praline?" she asked. "Don't you have any large plain brioches?" I then inquired. The red-haired saleswoman then intervened, telling her colleague, "Wait for the large brioche, I have orders..." After two minutes, and after the saleswoman who was helping me found the right size bag for my two croissants, she asked her colleague again, I received a negative response regarding the purchase of the brioche, because there were orders... it was 7:45 a.m.! I've been a customer of this bakery for over fifty years, but this is the last straw. I left the croissants and went to Grasset in Les Halles. A well-stocked display, a smile, plain brioche. Villaret, you've definitely lost a customer.

21/10/2024: Petit resto avec un personnel adorable, prêt à rendre service, pouvant vous servir à manger à 15h un lundi fin octobre. Bon Chocolat à l ancienne.

27/09/2024: Super a tous les niveaux. Serveurs très agréables, cuisine au top ...et les glaces un régal. Même les toilettes sont nickel. Nous reviendrons !!!!!!!

26/10/2025: Disappointed with our visit. We came for the daily special, which was mussels and fries, as shown on the sign outside. The welcome was decent, but the service was complicated for the waiters. When we ordered (12:15 p.m.), the waiter informed us that they were out of mussels. Too bad, we'll order something else, it's not a big deal. What disappointed us is that it was the waiter's mistake, because everyone who arrived after us until 1 p.m. was able to get their mussels and fries. We even heard a waitress say to the customers at the table next to us, "There are no more mussels, but I'll find some for you." When it came time for the bill, I told the owner, who, apart from telling me it was weird, did nothing. No apology, no goodwill gesture.

24/11/2024: More and more disappointed with your bakery... Pastries often overcooked and dry This Sunday an inedible frozen cake, while spending 26 euros for 6 people.... It's a shame at that price, and I got a response over the phone ''it's the fridge's fault'' 👏

03/09/2024: Pour complètement sincère, la cuisine était très bonne et le cadre est agréable, d’où le 4/5. Après, je soulignerais quand même que le rapport qualité/prix reste un peu élevé malgré tout. Autre information à noter : le restaurant ne prend pas la carte bleu (un distributeur n’est pas loin mais bon…).

01/09/2024: L’endroit est joli très bien placé au bord de l’eau, attrayant. Le restaurant était à moitié vide car il était déjà 20:30. On nous donne une table côté rue, alors qu’il y a de la place côté rivière, mais on nous dit que tout est réservé. Quand une table se libère 5 minutes après, on nous prévient qu’il va nous falloir attendre. Nous allons rester 20 min sans qu’on ne apporte ni les menus ou qu’on nous prenne la commande des boissons. Une fois installés, quand on nous apporte les menus, on nous informe qu’il n’y a plus que les boissons sur la carte, le « vrai » menu nous arrive sur ardoise. Il n’y a que des pâtes!!! et le moindre plat est à 26 euros, oui vous m’avez bien lue, 26 euros le plat de pâtes. Arnaque ? Meme sur la plage à St Tropez dans un resto en vue, les prix étaient plus abordables et la nourriture meilleure… Ce lieu est clairement un « piège à touristes » ils se croient à Venise !!!

24/09/2024: Very nice setting, we stopped there to have a little oyster/shrimp aperitif The oysters were excellent unfortunately the shrimp were very difficult to shell as if they had been frozen before.

07/07/2025: Back again 2025. The new system for ordering and serving works well and the food and drink is as good as ever. Went back this June, 2022. Definitely improved service and pastries and drinks as good as ever. I wonder how the small staff would cope with a rush but pleased to see some return to form. My one-star review of a year or two back follows. What they serve is still pretty good but the service is laughably bad; rude, disinterested, error-prone. One can hardly believe that the managers of this place have let it slip so far from its former eminence in the vicinity.

05/07/2025: Great place for brunch - had a delicious iced café au Lait with coconut milk and the eggs Benedict. The price was very reasonable. They made my bacon crispy just as I asked, which is not something a lot of places are willing to accommodate, so I was extremely grateful. All the staff we interacted with were lovely and kind. The negative reviews I saw seemed to come from entitled or impatient customers. We saw several ourselves who didn't seem to notice the signs on all the tables stating you need to order inside. The interior is beautiful anyways so it's a great opportunity to look at the original architecture. If we have time I'll definitely be back for another iced café! Thank you so much!

21/09/2024: Eating this day waiting 45min and missing a drink and salad cutlery, I went to see a manager her only word sorry to us your order is lost she told me. Especially since on the application the order was ready not even a gesture, not at all commercial, I will not go back and in addition toilet not very clean with no toilet paper.
