28/10/2025: Strange experience. Negative points: The owner was smoking a cigarette outside the table at 7:30 pm when we arrived. There were two forks instead of one and a knife on the table. The table next to us wasn't fully set. There were stains on the tablecloth on the side facing the customer. Only one red wine was available (due to a delivery issue...) and it was served cold because "it's just come from the cellar, you'll have to wait a bit"... (if there were no other wines, why wasn't it at least brought to room temperature beforehand??). The scallop risotto was underwhelming, far from being a risotto, with barely two scallops on the plate. The starter was a trio of foie gras, including pan-seared foie gras served on a chilled plate. There was a 30-minute wait between courses (and there were only six tables). The desserts were uninspired and expensive, especially for a mass-produced chocolate fondant (15 euros, just the Metro brand fondant, and a scoop of store-bought sorbet). The owner was smoking a cigarette at 8:50 pm (in the company of the chef, so it's no wonder we waited 30 minutes between courses), so we went outside to ask for the bill. I asked where the restrooms were, and the owner said, "Wait, I'll go check, I haven't had time to clean them," and flushed the toilet in front of me... no soap. That's outrageous. Positive points: The welcome was still friendly. The food was well-prepared, the ingredients were good, but nothing was exceptional, even if the techniques and cooking methods were sound. For example, the scallop risotto was far from being a risotto, and inexplicably topped with the same garnish as all the other dishes (the same one I had on my tournedos Rossini): a mix of sautéed vegetables, including potatoes. About the risotto... The place is quite unusual. An experience costing 100 euros for two, but not worth it. A shame. 100 euros is a lot of money.

17/10/2025: Extremely good. Even at past midnight, you could eat. Lovely place. We were the only two that late night. Clear, cosy and romantic. Fresh products, nice attendance. Tasty. My girlfriend said orgasmic. Served by the Chef himself. Not as expensive as it should be. A place to recommend, no doubt.

25/06/2026: Conveniently located on Boulevard Jean Jaurès, Café Pantel is something of an institution. Always lively, it's a popular spot for people to gather around a beer or a coffee, chatting about football or bullfighting. The food is simple and good. Friendly service.

30/06/2026: When you book for 1 p.m. and the appetizer buffet isn't cleared until 1:30 p.m. When the entire table hasn't finished their meal. Don't even start clearing the plates. At the end, they bring us the bill without anyone asking if we want coffee. Perhaps you should consider updating your air conditioning, even if it's 37 years old.

23/07/2026: After a few months' absence, we're back at number 9. We found the cuisine to be sophisticated and delicious. A different and well-thought-out menu. I recommend it.

16/07/2026: A superb restaurant nestled in the heart of the city center. The inner courtyard offers an intimate and charming setting, ideal for enjoying a delicious meal. The food is high quality, the prices are a bit high, but the experience is well worth it as you feel right at home. The servers and the owner are very friendly and let us finish our dinner in peace, even though the restaurant had been closed for almost an hour.

10/08/2026: Hello, I regularly come to this bakery, and it's becoming a regular occurrence that it's simply too crowded. The service is good, but the cashier is often alone. Furthermore, since this situation seems to happen almost every day, it doesn't change the cashier's attitude; they don't seem to be in any hurry. It's simply a lack of staff. The manager needs to review the organization; they are at fault. This situation should be exceptional, not a regular occurrence. Especially since it causes customers to lose customers every time. I leave without bread and without lunch after a 15-minute wait, and I was still far from being served.

09/08/2026: Bakery 🥖 where I give 5 stars ⭐️!!! A place with amazing staff 😊 even first thing in the morning. The products are inexpensive and delicious 😋. Tables are available 👥 to enjoy the pastries 🥮 on-site. There was hardly any wait, even though I went during peak hours 🕚! Highly recommended 👌🏼++

04/07/2026: A truly delightful experience! Everything was absolutely perfect, from start to finish. The restaurant is magnificent, tastefully decorated, with an elegant and welcoming atmosphere. Ideally located directly opposite the Arena, the view further enhances the enjoyment of the experience. The welcome was impeccable, and the entire team was remarkably kind. The service was attentive, quick, and perfectly paced, without ever being rushed. The cuisine was a true triumph. I enjoyed a terrine as a starter, a pig's trotter as a main course, and then a delicious chestnut vacherin for dessert. Each dish was generous, perfectly executed, and made with high-quality ingredients. I also greatly appreciated the comfort of the dining room: the tables are spaced far enough apart to allow for private conversations, the atmosphere is calm and pleasant, and the premises, including the restrooms, are impeccably maintained. Finally, the value for money is simply exceptional considering the quality of the food, the service, and the setting. A truly wonderful place that I wholeheartedly recommend and where I will gladly return on my next visit to Nîmes.

02/12/2025: What can I say? The food was reasonably good, the service pleasant, the waiter was friendly despite his lack of formal training, and the dining room was empty while the other restaurants on the square were full. The value for money was definitely lacking. Two things really disappointed us. First, I asked the waiter what vegetables were in my dish, and he couldn't tell me. When we came back, we learned that the chef had gone home, and the waiter explained that the kitchen assistant was running the show. Second, we were refused an upgrade to a higher-priced menu because, and I quote, the waiter said, "I ask at the beginning because I don't know how to upgrade the menu when the bill arrives." So we ended up paying full price for a starter/main course plus dessert, even though a three-course menu (starter/main/dessert) was available. This is the first time this has ever happened to us.
