05/07/2025: Thank you for this birthday party for our son Thibault. Perfect welcome from the owner and 5-star service from Thief and his friends. Truly, I've rarely seen such a good atmosphere at River 102.

04/07/2025: A setting that's still as pleasant and peaceful as ever, but unfortunately, the service is mediocre and, above all, outdated. €19 for "prawns" cooked over a brazier, but what you're actually getting is 6 barely cooked mini pink shrimp. Exorbitant, uncompetitive prices, and limited selection; I don't recommend this place.

05/09/2024: A lovely stop on our canal trip. Moored up in Jarnac (and drove 3 min; could have walked 18 min). Welcoming and jolly service. Abundant amuse bouche. Main courses of familiar ingredients but great originality. Deserts outstanding. Interesting and extensive wine list. Amazing range of cognacs. Excellent service and atmosphere. Enjoyed watching the chef through the window up a few stairs. Highly recommend!

02/10/2024: Sardine box (each table on the east row is only 15cm apart) ordinary cooking almost mastered, high prices just for the rustic setting.

13/12/2024: Un lieu très agréable avec un accueil sympathique. Nous avons été servis rapidement et les plats étaient délicieux. Bon rapport qualité prix. Le petit plus, une table ronde car nous étions 5.

21/07/2024: Un lieu bucolique à souhait avec une jolie terrasse ombragée et joliement fleurie. Un diner parfait... des plats faits maison délicieux mention aux sauces ! En prime on a pu faire un tour dans le coin "produits locaux- épicerie " et repartir avec des fraises made in charente...si si !!!

17/09/2024: Second dinner at this establishment. Jovial and friendly boss. Fast ordering and efficient service. We ate very well. End of dinner with a very informative tasting and history of Cognac.

10/09/2024: I knew this restaurant before its takeover, and it was already very good. Not only is the quality always there, but the plates are plentiful and the service is very pleasant. My kidneys were cooked to perfection.

29/08/2024: Staying nearby we wandered down for a quick drink and what a lovely bunch they are here . The lady spoke very good english which was helpful. The beer was good and the wine was beautiful. Had a couple of items from the dessert menu and they was lovely

28/08/2024: After a few beautiful walks in Nanteuil en Vallée, go to this restaurant where the welcome is very friendly, with good products and good beers!

13/10/2024: Le cadre de la salle à manger est superbe. La carte est décevante avec un seul menu à 6 plats.Nous n’en prenons que 3.Le foie gras poêlé est bon, mais à chaque plat, il y a un surplus d’ingrédients qui n’apportent rien et au contraire masque l’arôme de l’aliment principal. Le vin « Château de Mercues » est excellent.

14/09/2024: Il y a quelques jours, nous avons vécu une expérience gustative exceptionnelle dans un décor non moins exceptionnel. En effet nous avions réservé la Table du Chef, cette expérience proposée par le Château de Mercues est une immersion dans la cuisine de la brigade du restaurant menée par le nouveau chef qui a mis en place sa carte depuis le 1er septembre. Quelles émotions !!! Malheureusement, nous ne connaissons pas le nom du nouvel artiste culinaire de cet établissement, et c’est bien dommage car nul doute qu’il mérite une excellente renommée. Sa cuisine créative utilise des produits locaux dans une approche différente de ce que l’on a l’habitude de déguster. La fraîcheur, la légèreté et l’équilibre des saveurs vous transportent totalement. Bravo à toute la brigade, dont nous avons pu constater l’implication mais aussi merci à tout le personnel du service, du Maître d’hôtel, de la Sommelière et des serveuses. Tous de grands professionnels, dans un esprit très convivial.

06/01/2025: Very very bad reception. Throughout the meal the waitress looked at us with disdain. She ruined my 75th birthday.
