22/11/2025: We regularly return to this establishment when we're shopping nearby. We're always pleased with the food, the portion sizes, the service, and the overall experience. Today's special was Alsatian-themed. The sauerkraut was very good, but there were other options available.

12/10/2025: Super convenient restaurant in the Leclerc market. Very professional and friendly service. Good quality dishes and desserts. Very affordable prices.

18/01/2026: Update: Second visit! Second cold fries and a sloppy fish dish! This place should officially be banned. Minute Maid is just colored water, fish without sauce, and cold fries—that's already quite an achievement, but now consider that all this happened during off-peak hours... absolutely avoid it, especially since customer service is unreachable for a full refund.

24/09/2024: We came for dinner after our Hennessy experience at Hennessy, and there they recomend us this place for dinner. The place is located in a super nice building in front of the local market. The service was exceptional (our waiter said was his first day, but he was super good). The food was exceptional, the music is an interesting option, with rap and a bit more modern music, but in a very good volume and selected with very good taste. And gives a very good ambience to the place. Was really difficult to choose what to eat, everything on the menu looks amazing. About the price we spent 37€ per person for a meal with a starters, mains, dessert and drinks (beers and cocktail). So I think is a very good price. We are going to come back for the lunch, they told us that for lunch they have a “markets menu”. We can only recommend this place on your next visit to Cognac.

22/09/2024: We experienced the Origins restaurant as a family last night and what can we say, just incredible, we had a great evening. Very warm welcome, background music, very pleasant setting 😊 The cocktails and the cuisine reflect the incredible restaurant 🤤 we had a great time, I really recommend this restaurant without hesitation 😊

05/07/2025: Thank you for this birthday party for our son Thibault. Perfect welcome from the owner and 5-star service from Thief and his friends. Truly, I've rarely seen such a good atmosphere at River 102.

04/07/2025: A setting that's still as pleasant and peaceful as ever, but unfortunately, the service is mediocre and, above all, outdated. €19 for "prawns" cooked over a brazier, but what you're actually getting is 6 barely cooked mini pink shrimp. Exorbitant, uncompetitive prices, and limited selection; I don't recommend this place.

28/12/2025: Nice but unpredictable restaurant. We ate there several times in 2025, but I don't think we'll be back in 2026. The food is decent, the setting is pleasant, but the staff is a gamble. The highlight was last night when the waitress clearly told one of her colleagues that we were being difficult (to put it politely, the term was less sanitized)... we asked for a dessert that had to be ordered upon arrival... the last time we came, this rule didn't seem to apply because we were able to order (chocolate pizza). The waiter from the previous visit, a young man with curly hair, had been friendly and energetic, but this time we got the opposite. It seems that the "extra," as she explained it to us, couldn't care less, or even found it annoying to serve. For your information, complain about customers off the record; it avoids getting into trouble... and rest assured, neither we nor our friends will bother you anymore. If you're bothered by people arriving late, please understand that unforeseen circumstances can occur (a breakdown in this case). So yes, two guests arrived later, at 9:00 PM, while the others were there at 8:00 PM, and I immediately felt like I was "bothering" them. So yes, I don't eat at a restaurant that makes me feel like I'm inconveniencing others. If you didn't understand that when I said "I'm sulking and not having dessert," it was a polite way of explaining that I wasn't going to "bother" you any longer, or even again, there are plenty of places to eat in Cognac. The Duguesclin restaurant is now off my list. (I'll also skip the French toast... I must not have the right recipe in mind, it seems, but your explanation that it's just the way it is and "don't bother me" was perfectly understood.)

09/11/2025: A very pleasant place, after reading the somewhat overly picky reviews, the restaurant's name is well-deserved, the place is warm, the menu is very good for the price and the staff are friendly.

09/09/2025: I think a minimum of professionalism is necessary, even in a small brasserie. It's hard to hear that several dishes/desserts displayed on the menu are no longer available (or only available in a few places) when we had reserved in advance for a large group of people. Service was provided at the head of the table, and we had to pass the drinks/dishes ourselves to the right people, even though there was plenty of room to move around the table. There was no bacon or onion in the six burgers (with bacon and onions) we ordered. Only beef. The sauce was also missing. The duck breasts were also advertised with pepper sauce and arrived plain, all bare. When we pointed out the lack of sauce, the waitress took our plate away without a word and came back with more sauce... but on the salad (vinaigrette)! Obviously, not a single apology was given when the dishes were announced as "unavailable," nor after we pointed out the lack of ingredients originally planned for our plates (important ingredients, no less). We felt like we were being a nuisance. A simple "sorry" is the bare minimum of professionalism. The dishes weren't delicious. Dry. The fries weren't good, and above all, there was no sauce anywhere! (Except for the vinaigrette in the salad, again, that was great.) I expect a waitress in a Portuguese brasserie to firmly reprimand customers who dare to say that pasteis de nata are "little flans." Here, the accused was able to leave without being convicted of his outrageous remarks. It's time for justice. However, the place is pleasant, and so are some of the waiters. I liked the sound, even though I didn't hear my favorite song ("Charger" by Bermuda Triangle, I recommend it). Thank you for your welcome and I look forward to dining at your establishment again, provided you restock your supplies.

01/09/2024: What can I say apart from the presence of cockroaches which, according to the reviews, have been there for many weeks. We stopped for an aperitif (9 euros for a 25cl beer and a glass of white wine, but let’s move on…). None of the employees seem shocked by the presence of pests, it must be recurring. This is the first time I've seen this. The icing on the cake with I guess the manager telling us that we shouldn't have paid. It’s a little late when the customers are already outside sir… in short, flee!

26/09/2024: Served quickly, impeccable cooking and all, but I waited 20 minutes for an additional side dish. Apart from that, it's perfect, and we're dealing with chefs who master meat. So apart from the little hiccup (probably a very trivial communication problem between colleagues) very satisfied.

24/01/2026: A 45-minute wait for 3 milkshakes? If I wanted to wait that long for ice cream, I would have asked my dad to bring it back before leaving me. It's about time they hired competent staff.

23/11/2025: Friendly welcome, but the pizzas… tasteless. Overcooked. In short, €15 for that is outrageous. A €3 pizza at Lidl is better. Not to mention the 50-minute wait.

03/12/2025: For 3 euros we got 2 fries and bottles of water, they gave them to us for free and it was very good.

24/01/2026: A truly awful experience! Grilled ham and mashed potatoes! Whole potatoes on the plate with a sour taste! The ham was horribly tough! Dessert: roasted pineapple...cold, smothered in cold melted chocolate! I do not recommend it.

18/01/2026: 🎁✨️ A very nice Bouillon, the interior decor is magnificent. A minor point about the menu (flashed yellow: white would look much nicer, like the exterior ;) ). 🍽 A lovely menu with many choices and the option to add extra sides. It would be great to have traditional stews like Blanquette or Bourguignon! As for the food, we were disappointed with our choices. The soup was poorly blended and lacked flavor. The goat cheese salad was far too salty. The cheese was also cold. 😇 The welcome was very pleasant and friendly. Quick service and reasonable prices! In short, a great concept that just needs some tweaking in the recipes!
