09/05/2025: I had the pleasure of celebrating my 50th birthday there last weekend, we had a superb long weekend. The place is magnificent (the greenery, the pond, the tranquility, beautiful walks nearby, etc.). The lodgings are really great and well equipped (interior and exterior), and the icing on the cake was the sun was also there. Many thanks for your welcome and your availability. The meal at the restaurant (as well as the evening buffet) with good, well-cooked products a real treat for the taste buds, it was excellent and the birthday cake was simply incredible without forgetting the warm and friendly service. We had a hard time leaving the place.... It was so nice, that we plan to all come back next year to meet again. It is the ideal place for family or friendly parties (you can play music without disturbing the neighborhood), I highly recommend. Many thanks again. Maxou

23/06/2025: I heard from Julien Courbet that this establishment hadn't paid the person in charge of the karaoke, who had written €8,000... Not very serious, really!!!

20/06/2025: It's great to organize karaoke nights, but you still have to pay the host who went to court and won, but the employers owe him €8,000 and they're liars! I won't give them my money!

12/12/2024: The room was dirty (carpet not vacuumed) the bathroom also (long-time moldy joints and clogged sink), the mattress was not comfortable (tired with a hole in the middle) and the welcome was not pleasant.

09/07/2025: The hotel was clean and perfectly matched the description. The staff was very friendly and were able to mail my glasses back to me in just a few days, after I had forgotten them.

05/07/2025: Coming from Nord-Pas-de-Calais to Bagnères-de-Luchon we always stop in Brive-la-Gaillarde this year it was in the Mercure hotel pleasant clean helpful staff very quiet swimming pool and I tell you that you can forget your phone you notice it 300 km after starting they do everything we received it today they sent it back to us it will always be our hotel on each vacation thank you all for your kindness towards us

03/01/2026: We would like to share our experience upon arrival at the Hotel La Truffe Noire in Brive-la-Gaillarde on Friday, January 2, 2026. We had booked a room by calling the hotel directly and went to reception that same evening to pay for our room. We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist who informed us that there were no more spaces available in the hotel parking lot, but that we could park in the city parking lot next door, a two-minute walk away (Parking du 14 Juillet). The receptionist told us that parking was free until 9:00 a.m. the following morning. The next morning (Saturday, January 3), we left the hotel with our luggage to retrieve our vehicle from the parking lot the receptionist had indicated. We were unpleasantly surprised to discover that the city parking lot was occupied by a daily market held every Saturday and that our vehicle had been towed. So we returned to the hotel with our luggage to explain the situation to the morning receptionist, who wasn't the same one who had greeted us the previous evening. The poor, embarrassed receptionist told us she was new to the hotel and hadn't been aware of the market. She said she would do everything necessary to contact the police and the impound service so we could retrieve our vehicle. She apologized profusely, explaining that she hadn't been informed about the market and that her management hadn't told her that vehicles parked overnight from Friday to Saturday would be systematically towed to make room for the market vendors. So, with our luggage, we had to walk to the Brive municipal police station to get our vehicle released. Once the procedure was completed, we had to make our own way to the impound lot that had towed our vehicle to retrieve it (the company that towed our vehicle was located 15 km from the parking lot where our car was parked). The receptionist kindly asked us to send the impoundment bill to the hotel management so they could cover the costs incurred due to their communication error! We personally paid the impoundment fees for our vehicle, amounting to €135 (more expensive than the price of our hotel room). We sincerely hope that the hotel management, well aware of the parking conditions in this lot, will take the necessary steps to reimburse us for the costs incurred due to their communication error, and that they will implement measures to prevent this from happening again! We would like to extend our special thanks to the morning receptionist who did everything she could to help us get our vehicle back, and we would also like to point out that we were not the only hotel guests affected by this information error.

21/12/2025: Room 14 was assigned, with two single beds, even though I was identified as the sole occupant by the hotel. I asked at reception if it was possible to add a duvet that covered both single beds or to change rooms. Neither option was available. A colleague then offered to swap me to his room, which had a double bed. In the morning, in the bathroom, it was impossible to adjust the shower head; the shower tray's slope was clearly insufficient, resulting in a very wet bathroom after showering. There was also paint splatter on the window of the same bathroom. The room was sparsely decorated, even sterile. And yet, it's supposed to be a four-star hotel. Overall, I was disappointed with the service.

30/11/2024: Décevant niveau qualité/prix, certains plats trop gras comme les accras, d’autres trop sec comme le filet mignon servis avec des pommes de terre à l’eau… le thon on nous dit qu’il est frais mais on a l’impression de voir le dessin du plastique dessus .. des plats ont été servis froids.. Je ne recommande pas et n’y retournerai pas, pour le prix il y a des meilleurs restaurants à proximité.

29/08/2024: Very disappointed. Came as a family and were very disappointed, waitress cold and dry, almost a feeling of being disturbed. Expensive prices, and dishes nothing more. Do not ask for meats to be cooked. Location near major axis. We preferred the restaurants in the center.

27/08/2024: A great place to eat. The food is lovely. We sat outdoors and our waitress was attentive and warm. The place was very busy people were being turned away as it was full so definitely book. If we are ever in the area we would go again.

17/09/2025: A remarkable setting, a beautiful, well-maintained château. Beautiful decor full of detail and thoughtfulness. Pierre, the manager of the gite, is warm, welcoming, and attentive, not to mention the lady who serves breakfast.

19/10/2024: My order was not far from perfect unfortunately I found the sandwich very stingy in terms of ground meat (see photo of the sandwich). I had two pizzas with her, they were delicious ☺️
