10/09/2026: WOW!! What a discovery! A delight with every dish; it was perfect from start to finish, both in terms of presentation and service. The duck tiramisu is exceptional. A must-try if you're visiting Villefranche-de-Conflent.

22/08/2026: Impatient people beware! My first time at La Paillote, arrived at 7:18 pm, first tapas at 8 pm. Good, but the sea bream rillettes at €10 is a bit excessive for me. Two very good and well-presented main courses, no complaints there. As for the Pavlova, my favorite dessert, meh, I've had much better. Too sweet and no fruit, just a tiny strawberry insert. I'll let you judge for yourselves. A bill of €100 for two is still relatively high. Finished at 9:30 pm for 2 cocktails, 2 tapas, 2 main courses, 2 coffees, and a dessert. In short, an ideal restaurant for digesting between courses 😉

19/08/2026: Delicious food, everything is homemade and it shows. I'm usually a bit wary of beachfront restaurants, but this one is definitely worth a visit. Between the cozy decor and the top-notch service, everything enhances the chef's cuisine even more!

28/08/2026: A charming little family-run restaurant serving Catalan-Vietnamese cuisine. It's excellent, surprising, and original. Located on a hillside, under wisteria, just above the Llo baths. The service is warm and friendly; we always return with great pleasure.

27/09/2026: We came to lunch at this restaurant, ideally located facing the sea. We ordered two set lunch menus at €19 (starter + main course) and one dish from the à la carte menu at €24. Unfortunately, the service was incredibly slow, even just getting the starters was a nightmare. The portions were also very, very small. It's a real shame, as all three of us left hungry. The dish from the à la carte menu was a risotto with prawns and scallops. The amount of rice was extremely limited for a dish at this price. It was particularly disappointing. Furthermore, the scallops were raw throughout. They were sent back to the kitchen to be cooked a second time, especially since I am pregnant. Unfortunately, they came back still undercooked. In short, despite a very pleasant location, we were disappointed by the portion sizes, the wait time, and especially the cooking of the dish. We do not recommend this restaurant if you want a proper meal and a full stomach. Following the establishment's response, I would like to clarify that I clearly told the waiter, when I asked him to cook the scallops again, that I was pregnant. It was even the first thing I told the waiter, apologizing for asking for them to be cooked again. I said to him, word for word: "Excuse me, I'm pregnant, the scallops are raw in the center, could you please cook them again?" But apparently, the establishment, which doesn't take criticism well, ignored the detail I provided in my request in their response. A serious lack of honesty in your response. Clearly, this establishment discriminates against pregnant women, since they only serve seared scallops. And then, yes, I did leave the table for a few moments, as your service was so slow that the 1 hour and 30 minutes of parking I had allocated for my vehicle was up before we even received our food. (I should point out that we did nothing more than park and walk to the restaurant.) I didn't mention that it was cold or anything like that, simply that it was a cooking issue. You're deflecting the problem to avoid taking responsibility. Not surprising, given your comments. A very disappointing and dishonest reaction, which confirms the first part of my review.

31/08/2026: Fantastic restaurant run by a charming couple. We return here year after year and have always been served consistently wonderful food. We have gluten and lactose intolerances - both of which were catered for without any problem. The price is extremely reasonable for the quality of the cooking. I am surprised this restaurant does not have a Michelin Bib Gourmand rating - it certainly delivers that level of quality.

23/08/2026: We recommended to our friends, who were visiting from the UK, to go for their wedding anniversary. They were blown away: reporting it as good as 1 Michelin Star restaurants they’ve enjoyed at home. Outstanding, occasion worthy food, with excellent, facilitative, bilingual service. One of the key points of enjoyment was that they reported spending very little time without food, because the cooking and service was so well timed. Despite the fine food, portions were still well sized, so most of their two hour experience was used eating and drinking - something very close to their hearts. When I collected them the restaurant and surrounding area was radiant with life - with a god cried playing boule on the pitch outside - and created a lovely overall atmosphere under the trees of the exterior dinning space. We can’t wait to go again ourselves!

As for the cuisine, very surprising; you can feel that the chef is working with love for his dishes in the kitchen. Great balanced flavor combinations that come together wonderfully. 20/09/2026: Without exaggeration, the best restaurant I have been to. The experience is perfect every time. The food is absolutely phenomenal, excellent value for money. The service is top tier - both Abou the chef and the server are so, so welcoming, warm, professional and helpful. One of my friends had a particular dietary requirement and Abou was so accommodating and attentive. She was absolutely delighted. Quite simply the best food, amazing quality - all local and fresh - in the perfect setting.

06/09/2026: We came today as a group of nine and had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The welcome was truly delightful, the service impeccable, and the food excellent. A special mention goes to the snails and the boles de picolat, which were simply delicious! The setting is also very charming and inviting. A fantastic find that we wholeheartedly recommend. A must-try! We will definitely be back.
