15/03/2026: A small place but with a great selection of wines. We ordered glasses to try them, and if you're unsure what to order, it's a good place to start, but it's quite expensive. I recommend buying a bottle if you want to share a cake with friends. The service from the young woman was excellent and very attentive; she explained the wines well and gave great advice.

20/05/2026: Overall, a great time at Sababa! The terrace is pleasant, even if there isn't much space... you'll find more room inside, where it has a beach hut vibe reminiscent of the Arcachon Basin ⚓️ The tapas are made fresh, and you can tell they're well-prepared! ✅⭐️ The prices are in line with the neighborhood, so don't come here to save money... 🤑 The waitresses are charming, but I felt they were a bit pushy, because as soon as your glass is empty, they're there to ask if you want another one (I understand that's part of being a bar, but I'd never experienced it to this extent). That said, I'll be back, as I'm often in this area! And the chef was friendly too, so everyone's happy! 👍🏻🙏🏻🍻

12/05/2026: Looking for a nice and affordable restaurant in Bordeaux, we stumbled upon Le Sababa. A very pleasant experience, both in terms of the food and the service.

05/06/2026: The setting is magnificent: Place Pey Berland, opposite Saint-André Cathedral, and the interior is beautifully decorated. The service: the waitresses (Juliette and Mel) were as friendly as they were professional. There was virtually no wait between courses. The menu: well-designed (it changes regularly), easy to read, not a huge selection, but better than too many. As someone who is picky about cooked endives, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it.

01/06/2026: We went for lunch as soon as we arrived in Bordeaux, great location and lovely service. The food was so good we went for dinner three nights in a row. Everything was delicious, particularly the lamb shank! Will definitely recommend to friends and anyone visiting the city and we hope to visit again too.

05/05/2026: The food is really very good; maybe one or two dishes are a bit too dry, but overall we weren't disappointed 😄 The service is excellent. For a while, we went once a week, and coffee or a digestif was offered, which is very rare these days.

19/04/2026: Highly recommended for their ravioli specialties, we ate well, but were disappointed overall. The charcuterie was rather bland, and the dishes lacked seasoning. While the service was excellent, it's a shame that the daily specials were only suggested verbally (because €38 for a main course was quite a shock).

24/05/2026: Yesterday, for European Museum Night, like many Bordeaux residents, we went to dinner in the city center, 60 meters from City Hall and 30 meters from the Cathedral, at the Bistrot-Café Français... and what a disappointment! The place aims for chic and refined decor inside, and the air conditioning was pleasant. However, the toilets were in a deplorable state of filth, from floor to bowl, and there was no toilet paper. Regarding the service, which was dynamic and efficient, I didn't appreciate the comment about us not ordering appetizers and going straight for the main course. But that's beside the point; the most disappointing aspect was the meager quantity and quality of the dishes. For four adults, we ordered three different salads and a burger. The Caesar salad consisted of nothing more than chicken on lettuce; the Ocean salad was acceptable; The meager Landes salad with a small, tasteless tomato cut into quarters, four flavorless slices of duck breast, and a piece of foie gras on two bland Hungarian-Bulgarian buns... And the overly greasy burger that the young adult didn't finish. The disappointment had nothing to do with the price but with the quantity, the quality of the food, and also the amateurish presentation. There must not have been a cook that day. However, I could see that the standard is steadily declining... from a warm bistro for locals, Le Café Français is becoming a tourist trap and a real rip-off! I miss the years 1991-1993 when I used to come and play pool in the back of the main room with my friends.

19/04/2026: Today I went there for a bowl. The service was indeed good, but there was really too much surimi in this bowl. I certainly won't be ordering it again. I didn't even know that this kind of industrially produced and synthetically colored product still existed... Very disappointing.

04/10/2025: A very warm welcome and fast service with a smile. Probably bad luck, but there were two of us who ordered beef tartare: we both felt sick after our meal. Despite this, the portions are generous. They don't take menu items, which is a shame. But it's worth going back to give them the chance they deserve.

15/05/2026: We went in and asked for a table for seven, and the waitress was unpleasant, just because we were foreigners. I asked her, "Is the kitchen open?" She said "no," without any explanation. It was strange because we saw other people eating at the same time. Then, since the kitchen was closed, we only ordered drinks. After we ordered, she said, "Four drinks for seven people, you shouldn't stay long." It was really unfriendly, and on top of that, it was the worst cappuccino I've ever had, and it cost me five euros. I strongly advise against going there because she was rude.

02/05/2026: My wife and her colleagues from the town hall went to this restaurant on Wednesday, a place we'd frequented for several years for coffee after our walks in downtown Bordeaux. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was cold, without a smile or any real attention, especially from a young brunette woman. My wife and her colleagues had forgotten to make a reservation, which can happen, but a little more cordiality would have been appreciated nonetheless. The wait to order was particularly long, only to receive a mistake with one of the dishes. After so much time, this is hard to accept. When it came time to pay, the prices seemed quite high considering the quality of the food. The dishes tasted okay, but the presentation left much to be desired, giving an impression of carelessness. I don't want to criticize the establishment, but there are clearly areas for improvement. A disappointing experience that doesn't make us want to return anytime soon.

12/05/2026: Two words to describe my Bobun experience: delicious. The dry-cooked shrimp are a delight for the taste buds, perfectly crispy and seasoned just right. Now let's talk about the side dish: the fried flat beans—I've rarely tasted vegetables cooked so well… In short, go and ask for the traditional menu; it may not look like much, but it's full of gems! Thank you, Bobun, for this experience! P.S.: Special mention for the tripe!!!

11/05/2026: Excellent place! The bo bun is delicious and the Chinese fondue (very spicy) is very generous! PS: Special mention for the dry-cooked shrimp, one of the best dishes I've had in Bordeaux.

17/04/2026: I came for two days, tried two dishes, and each time I was blown away. Everything was simply delicious, from the ribeye steak to the burger and even the fries. Everything was excellent, and the chef was very welcoming and friendly.

06/05/2026: I won't be back, and especially keep an eye on your bill! We were supposed to order three set menus at €15.90 each. We showed them the menu with our starters and main courses, and when the bill came, there was an extra €13 charge! 😣 They charged us à la carte, and the owner refused to refund us. Her excuse was that it was because of her daughter, and she added, with a mocking smile, "But I gave you extra, just like à la carte!" She said, "Are you kidding me? You make a mistake and you don't take responsibility at all!" I still went there two or three times when I was passing through, and don't even get me started on the service—they practically threw the plates at you! Anyway, I'm going somewhere else. 😤
