12/09/2024: Fantastically simple and beautiful lunch prepared by Carol, friendly service from Jean-Paul and lovely relaxed atmosphere. We would highly recommend!

02/09/2024: Making a reservation at Cafe des Arts is our first priority when we arrive to this beautiful corner of France. I am not ashamed to admit that we had not one, not two but three bookings here over the space of two weeks this summer. You just need to take a walk through Penne d’Agenais and stumble across this picturesque cafe to see why. You will be lucky to get a table on the day so do say hello to Jean Paul and book ahead, or alternatively give the restaurant a call to make a reservation. They speak English and are patient when we try to make a reservation or order our food in our poorly put together French. The cafe is in the perfect setting in the heart of Penne d’Agenais, with a quaint terrace which overlooks the church. Jean Paul and Carole create a perfect ambiance which compliments the charm of Penne d’Agenais. They get everything right. Fantastic setting. Fantastic ambiance. Fantastic service. Fantastic food. I order L’assiette de Mr. Seguin every time, without fail; a hot goat cheese on grilled toast, honey, walnut kernels, bacon, lettuce, olive oil and apple cider vinegar. Simple, locally sourced, French produce brought together to make the best salad I’ve ever had. The only thing that gets me through the doom and gloom of winter is the thought of being at Cafe des Arts in the summer and sitting down to L’assiette de Mr. Seguin. Then there’s the cider too. A must. The coffee and of course the crepes. The crepe caramel and a coffee is the perfect end to the meal. Do treat yourself to some additional ice cream on top.

11/09/2024: The products do not appear fresh but frozen. The garnish that accompanied the pasta dish was disappointing: too much crème fraîche, few gizzards, a few barely visible crumbs of foie gras, and I didn't see any parsley. My husband's steak was not tender...a shame, but we didn't find the expected flavors. We give a rating of 3 for the very welcoming servers.

13/08/2024: Easily the best restaurant in Marmonde - run by a husband and wife team in the classic style but very modern presentation. Small menu - two starters and two mains at €50 for three excellent courses: marinated mackerel or fois gras terrine followed by suckling pork or duck all perfectly sauced. Desserts include a lemon ‘explosion’ and a chocolate mousse with a raspberry every couli.

08/09/2024: The place have a great atmosphere and staff. It is a place that I prefer with my boyfriend for tonight and that we are satisfied with. Their staff are very kind and knowledgeable. We ordered a mini burger as a start. Then we had angus and potatoes as the main course. We crowned the meal with red wine. The gentleman who helps with food and wine was very polite and knowledgeable. Food was literally great. The music was also very enjoyable. It's an awesome place to drink some good wine or eat something very tasty. Definitely recommended.

28/08/2024: Difficile de trouver un restaurant dans la région de Tonneins, nous sommes donc tombé par hasard sur le restaurant l'écuelle d'or et nous avons été ravi, très bel endroit, les patrons sont supers sympas, et nous avons très bien mangé, bravo et au plaisir de revenir quand on sera de passage à nouveau.
