12/07/2026: Half the items were unavailable, the toilets were in a deplorable state of cleanliness, and the restaurant was empty.

11/07/2026: Absolutely filthy, there's no other word for it. Grease and garbage under the tables, the order screens are incredibly greasy, the toilets are a disaster—the smell of urine and no toilet paper even though there was no one there, so plenty of time to clean. A real disgrace, avoid at all costs!

15/07/2026: The reception was really awful, not a thank you, not a smile, we were just annoying them. That's my feeling.

07/07/2026: I had a wonderful meal at Paris Food in Avallon with my beloved wife and friends. In this special place for us, we witnessed her marriage proposal (the ring was inside the kebab wrap; she almost choked, but she said yes! 👍). The food was delicious and hot, the drinks were perfectly chilled, and the sauces were fantastic—there was a wide variety, and the proportions were just right. 04/08/2026: A mixed experience. Some dishes were good and original, while others seemed quite basic and disappointing in terms of quality. I especially recommend the open-faced sandwiches, which are generous, well-filled, and very tasty. On the other hand, the pizzas and burgers seemed rather ordinary and didn't really justify their price. The wait time before a server came to take your order was also a bit long, which can be frustrating when it's not busy. As for the desserts, I was very disappointed. I advise paying attention to the photos, as they don't always match what's served. The €8 ice cream sundae was particularly disappointing: the portion was close to that of two simple scoops of ice cream. The same goes for the other desserts.

29/07/2026: We arrived around 1:20 PM to eat, but we turned around because the restaurant had stopped serving at that hour. For a restaurant... you wonder if they actually want to stay open or close down... We ended up going to Ancy-le-Franc where we found a small restaurant that was still open... they were serving until 2 PM.

15/06/2026: An unusual place run by an old saxophonist bear who's set up a jazz keyboard there. Serious stuff.

10/05/2026: An excellent experience, at the crossroads of Burgundian gastronomy and a jazz atmosphere. A meal suspended in time.

06/07/2026: Unacceptable, we were served apricot juice that was over a year and a half past its expiry date.

06/07/2026: We were just passing through the area. We were having drinks, and when my glass was full of lipstick, they changed it... my juice from Brico had a rather strange taste. I checked the date: 03/2025, more than a year and a half past its expiration date. We were supposed to eat there, but I was so scared of getting sick that we left. No wonder there were few people on the terrace, unlike other restaurants. Thank you to the canteen for serving us after 2 pm. How can this kind of place still operate with complete impunity?

16/07/2026: Very disappointed, I waited 39 minutes for our two meals and two sandwiches, only to find they forgot a Big Mac and a box of nuggets at the register.

15/07/2026: Bad experience. Dirty restrooms. We ordered five iced lattes at 10:59 a.m. in a restaurant that was practically empty. The drinks were initially served hot. We asked for them to be remade, then had to go back to the counter a second time because they were served without ice. In the end, it took nearly 20 minutes to get five properly prepared coffees, with no compensation offered. If the service is already this complicated in a nearly empty restaurant, it's hard to imagine what it's like during busy periods.

11/05/2026: It's horrible, I'm speechless. Avoid at all costs! It's the worst hotel I've ever spent a night in; between the unsanitary conditions, the dampness, the leak, and the nauseating smell in the room, this hotel needs to be inspected by health authorities because it's unacceptable to continue lying to customers about the photos! I REALLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. STAY AWAY!!!!

24/04/2026: I have rarely stayed in a place where kindness and hospitality are so prevalent. It may not be the height of luxury, but honestly, when I read some reviews, I think some people have lost sight of what's truly important… Here, you are welcomed with open arms. Step through the door of Hôtel des Deux Gares and see for yourself: a simple, welcoming, and warm atmosphere. And a special mention for the bedding… pure bliss, perfect for a wonderful night's sleep! You were a lifesaver, thank you again for this short stay 🙏🏻 A little Breton girl who had nowhere to sleep 😊

04/02/2026: I stayed two nights, one of which was for business. The hotel is in a state of disrepair, really... it's completely dilapidated. Everything is old, almost abandoned. The feeling the hotel gives us is that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it?" They don't want to make a big deal out of it, like, "We know, but that's just how it is." For example, at breakfast, I witnessed a guest complaining that the coffee machine wasn't making cappuccino (but some kind of drink that was half water, half... who knows what), and the hotel employee replied, "Yes, that's true, but nobody ever asks for cappuccino anyway." For my part, I noticed that the Nutella expired in January 2026, and it's February 4th... Basically, the whole hotel is like that! The general feeling is one of "it's still passable"... You can't really say it's dirty, but why dust it? It's not broken, it's still functional, so why repair it? The walls are still standing, so why repaint them (or fill the holes)? The maintenance worker must be in jail 😂 That said, the hotel is quiet, all the staff are very polite, the heating works, the water is hot, and there are no bedbugs!! That's something, at least! I'm almost sorry to leave such a review and photos, because there's real potential. It's such a shame. Please do something! A fresh coat of paint on all the walls would be a good start.

17/12/2025: The room was outdated, nothing like the photos on the website, and poorly insulated. The meal cost €30, which was okay 🤷🏻‍♂️, not worth €20, but you have to take what you can get. However, the staff were very unfriendly, even downright rude. The two female guards last night were like prison guards. If they're not happy in their jobs, the customers aren't to blame. Otherwise, everything went well.

15/05/2026: No menu for ordering, no prices displayed (even though it's mandatory to display them in the dining area or on a menu - see the decree of March 27, 1987). The waitress was unpleasant, in short, avoid this place. The bar Le Sub next door looks much nicer. I made the wrong choice, a bit disappointed as a result.

24/03/2026: Tried it out for St. Patrick's Day, and thanks to everyone because what the city organized was ridiculously bad. The bar is great, the waitresses/waiters are super friendly, and the owner is very cool. Lots of drink choices. The atmosphere is fantastic, music playing all day, they were showing the France/England rugby match. I'll be back soon!
