10/09/2025: If you are looking for polite communication and respectful treatment, I do not recommend this place (I also noticed repeated impolite behavior reported by other customers too, and clearly some anger management issues). To let the facts speak for themselves, I will share the disrespectful messages we received from Yves. Such behavior should not be tolerated. From his messages, I wondered: could he not have explained politely that they do not accept 1-night stays? As far as I know, this option is possible through Booking. And if they recommend us to go to a hotel, then what exactly is their role on Booking? Lastly, maybe he does not know that we work during the day as we could not see his messages only after hours we have made the reservation. Overall, it was a bad experience with someone who clearly does not know how to handle such situations and instead expressed his frustration toward us. Sharing below also the English translation of his messages for reference: "I’ve already sent you several messages via Booking about your reservation last night. The conditions of your booking are completely unacceptable, and Booking should never have allowed it since it clearly falls outside our terms of sale. We told you to cancel, yet we’ve received no response from you and no cancellation. It’s about time you take action—or at the very least acknowledge our messages." "As we’ve already explained in our messages on Booking: Arriving at midnight is absolutely not acceptable, especially when you’re also asking for a late check-out the next day. Check-in is strictly between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. At best, we might tolerate up to 9 p.m., but never midnight. We are neither a hotel nor an Airbnb. Cancel your booking, because if you only need a one-night stop, you should be looking for a hotel instead."

07/09/2025: 3/4 dirham wait for two miserable dishes! Dishes removed from the menu but not wiped off the slate! No homemade dessert except for a tiramisu, which was also removed! Ordered white Ventoux wine replaced with Chardonnay (advised of the change but not of the doubled price!) Unfortunate experience!

15/02/2026: The atmosphere there is wonderfully relaxed and informal. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. We'll be back on the terrace at the end of August 2026. Even the dogs were welcome there 👍👍

15/02/2026: Friendly welcome and service, excellent pizzas, and the lamb shank confit was cooked to perfection. Pleasant terraces right in the heart of Castellane. Perfect!

29/10/2025: A magnificent church, both for its stone exterior and its bell tower topped by a statue of the Virgin Mary, and for its richly decorated interior with magnificent stained-glass windows, as well as its mosaic paintings depicting the Passion of Christ. It hasn't changed since my childhood holidays spent in Barcelonnette.

15/02/2026: Extremely long wait (1 hour 30 minutes for the daily specials!) for mediocre food: average tartiflette, very small, tasteless pieces of reblochon cheese and sour cream. Raclette with no flavor whatsoever. The seasonal specialty wasn't available. I should clarify, after receiving a response from the restaurant owner: I left my review for Le Gaudissard and I don't understand how my comment ended up here. But the response from the owner of Le Piolet doesn't exactly inspire confidence either... Prices are far too high for the service and experience; there are many other restaurants with better value for money in the side streets behind.

01/02/2026: A truly wonderful spot in the mountains! ⛰️ They serve 100% homemade, delicious, and carefully prepared cuisine, with generous portions. For a budget of €20 to €35, the value for money is excellent. The setting is pleasant and relaxing. The service is welcoming, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend it!

07/02/2026: Beautiful wine cellar-style interior with a fireplace that creates a great atmosphere 🔥 The authentic basil croque monsieur was excellent. Perfect service. Just one small complaint: the pancakes weren't homemade.

The owner takes the time to chat with you, which is much appreciated. Thank you for this wonderful meal; if we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back!
