25/02/2026: I ordered a chocolate fleur de sel cookie, and it tasted like a cake that was several days old. I couldn't taste the chocolate or the salt, just the stale cake. It's a shame because the shop is very pretty and the service is very pleasant.

24/02/2026: One star that's practically a zero for failing to comply with regulations regarding the display of prices for pastries. Perhaps a strategy to avoid displaying a price of €5.40! There's a limited selection, but the pastries are original, which is nice, but there are no descriptive labels. Instead, a charming young woman comes to ask what you want. I didn't have the heart to ask her to describe the 7 or 8 options, so I chose chocolate. It was good, but quite filling. I know a similar place that costs less than €4. It seems more like a tea room than a pastry shop, given the limited selection. My first and last visit! I returned two weeks later to the Place de la Bourse location to find that, despite their response, the prices were still not displayed. I pointed this out, and the reply was: "They are displayed in the other shops!" A double disregard for regulations and the customer. May a discerning foodie inspector from the DGCCRF (French Directorate General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control) happen to see this!

18/01/2026: We're regulars; the servers are great and very professional, and we've never been disappointed by the food. However, the welcome from the owner and the former manager is nonexistent, repulsive; we certainly don't come for them. They're contemptuous and disdainful.

20/02/2026: The meal was very good, and the service was impeccable. The only downside is that the menu and prices listed on the website are not up to date. So expect price increases and changes to the restaurant's menu.

27/01/2026: Utterly disappointing. Paying that price for a ribeye steak with a questionable smell (I don't know if it was the sauce or the meat), the fries were truly awful, and the service was beyond appalling. The waiter was barely pleasant, not very well-groomed, and practically invisible throughout the entire meal. I strongly advise against this restaurant; it's just another tourist trap. There are much better restaurants in Toulouse where you can enjoy a delicious meal for the same price, if not less.

26/12/2025: The best place for wine in Toulouse, a self-service bar with wines by the glass, priced from €0.90 to €1.30, so you can try as many wines as you like and then order more. The tapas are excellent, and the service is wonderful. They explain the wines and offer recommendations and pairings if you order food. The woman who served me also speaks English. For wine connoisseurs, the bottles include descriptions of the grape variety, flavors, and more. Definitely a place to visit if you're in Carcassonne.

20/12/2025: Bad experience. We had a reservation for a tasting, and when we arrived, they told us they'd forgotten and were sorry. They should bring a planner for Christmas.

Chez Carmen has a history, a reputation, a respected past… but a restaurant doesn't thrive on memories; it thrives on the quality it serves today. 👉 The real problem here isn't the welcome, the service, or the cooks—quite the opposite ❤️. The servers are professional, kind, and dedicated, and the cooks clearly do their best with what they're given. You can feel their passion, their desire to do well, and even their discomfort with customer feedback. ❌ The problem lies at the top. The quality of the ingredients, especially the meats, is unworthy of the establishment's standing and history 🥩❌: undercooked meat, mediocre taste, very expensive salads with few ingredients, lacking generosity and love on the plate. It feels like the pursuit of profit has taken precedence over quality. ⚠️ This is a strategic error. Today, customers don't pay for a name or a glorious past, but for an experience, an emotion, genuine quality. The present is no longer the past, and without improving the present, there will be no future ⏳. 🙏 This comment is a plea, not an attack: 👉 Respect your teams 👉 Respect your customers 👉 And above all, respect the products. Chez Carmen could become a benchmark again. But that depends solely on the owner's choices, not on the talent or commitment of the employees. 😞 Too bad… for now.
