13/03/2026: A wonderful experience at this restaurant, which I had previously visited when it had a Michelin star.
The second restaurant has reopened and it's truly delicious.
The staff is very professional, especially the woman who looked after our table and offered excellent wine recommendations.
A minor drawback was the portion sizes.
They were far too small.
€38 for the fish course and €40 for the scallops; the portions were truly minuscule. We were still hungry after dinner. This definitely needs to be addressed!

15/11/2025: I had a wonderful time at this restaurant, with a delicious meal, a very good wine (a Mâcon), and a calm, cozy atmosphere. The waitress was friendly and very pleasant. The music and setting were also enjoyable. A great find; I can't wait to go back.

08/03/2026: Very tasty and nice! We ate the restaurant's specialty, frog legs! Just enough to share a portion between two and combine with something else.
20/02/2026: Baba's frogs were delicious! The price was reasonable considering the quantity and quality. The welcome and service were provided by a very kind and professional blonde lady (I forgot to get her name).

07/02/2026: A Lyon institution that has clearly regained its former glory since the change of ownership.
Everything is excellent: the welcome, the service, and the cuisine.
The dishes are flavorful and perfectly executed, with a special mention for the risotto, which is simply exceptional. The service is professional, warm, and efficient.
Another major plus: easy parking, which is a real plus.
A must-visit in Lyon, highly recommended.

13/09/2025: The restaurant has fundamentally changed its concept. Not a disaster in itself, but the links/photos should be changed.
Completely understaffed, one poor server overwhelmed for the entire dining room. The kitchen is taking it easy during this time. Way too hot inside. The food is okay, nothing special.
We just wanted to leave...
13/09/2025: Unfortunately, Contre-Champ is not what it used to be. The chef has changed, and the experience is nothing like what you’ll see on Google or in older reviews. The food was disappointing, far below expectations, and the overall quality has dropped dramatically. To make matters worse, the poor waiter had to manage 11 tables completely on his own — service was understandably slow and chaotic, and it was painful to watch him struggle. What used to be a great place has become a real letdown. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal.

12/03/2026: Great place, very friendly staff, excellent traditional dishes, really enjoyed it, definitely worth a visit.
The bill for two with a bottle of wine came to about 100 euros. The dessert was a wonderful crème brûlée.
12/03/2026: I was drawn in by the cute sign while jogging by. It was lunchtime, and the place was packed. The menu had an English translation, and I wanted to try Lyon cuisine; the atmosphere was great. There were two set menus to choose from, or you could order à la carte. Watching the desserts being made, each one looked incredibly tempting, but unfortunately, I was too full and only chose the smallest portion.

28/02/2026: Avoid at all costs. Despite the very pleasant welcome and simple, family atmosphere, the chicken liver appetizer with crayfish sauce was very good, and the sauce was genuinely homemade. Up to that point, everything was fine; but things quickly went downhill with the arrival of the pork tenderloin and its Dauphinoise potatoes. Recognizing the pork tenderloin in its compacted timbale form is a challenge; the sauce is unmistakably a ready-made one, completely tasteless except for a splash of vinegar. A few stray chestnut slices are mixed in… the promised mushrooms must have gone to the forest because there were none. The Dauphinoise potatoes seem to have forgotten they're supposed to be cooked with béchamel sauce; a thin layer of cream binds together bland, ungratined potatoes. The final blow comes with dessert: the pink praline tart! A horribly sweet, pinkish mush drips onto a frozen pastry base, its flavor certainly not hinting at the pralines. Inedible! €38 plus the wine, which I won't even mention (but it'll be my constant companion in the form of a headache!). What a shame! What a disappointment. The young woman who served me was charming, and her musical tastes—Brel and Brassens—combined with good food would have been a delight. Bad choice!
28/02/2026: Excellent meal, very generous portions and typical of Lyon. Delighted to have eaten at your restaurant. Very warm service. The waitress found us a small table so we could eat even though we hadn't made a reservation...thank you! Everything was delicious!!!

15/03/2026: Bouillon Maurice is a very pleasant, typical Lyonnais restaurant. The atmosphere is superb, as is the staff!
The dishes are served quickly and are delicious, all at a very reasonable price!
(You can eat very well for around €25!) I highly recommend this restaurant!

02/03/2026: As usual, absolutely perfect with that charming, casual atmosphere and guaranteed conviviality. It's always a pleasure to come to your place. Thank you again.
01/03/2026: Impossibly small, with an almost camouflaged doorway, this is probably my favourite bouchon in Lyon. The menu is just as compact as the space but the owners will keep everything flowing with good humour and excellent, anticipatory service.
A starter of snails in a garlic cream sauce is rich and savoury, while their salade Lyonnaise comes laden with lardons and a wobbly poached egg. Move on to perfectly grilled bavette or - if you dare - tablier de sapeur with sauce gribiche, a square of honeycomb tripe crumbed and fried, created a wonderful texture well complimented by the tangy vinegar-rich sauce.
Desserts are homely and include a wonderful creme caramel and chocolate mousse cake, but I was less enthused about their massive (and dry) baba au rhum. I can't wait to get back here.
