14/08/2026: Good restaurant. Simple but appetizing cuisine. The cooking is accurate, but the dishes are rather bland. The service needs improvement (delays, forgotten dishes...). Furthermore, the portions are quite small, or perhaps not commensurate with the slightly high prices. The welcome is hesitant and awkward (a simple "hello" would be appreciated). Reservations are recommended.

08/08/2026: We could have done without the manager's disparaging comments made behind our backs, criticizing us. And criticizing the waiter's slowness in front of other customers is disrespectful.

We were both pleasantly surprised by the place, the welcome, and the service we received. • The welcome was pleasant, no complaints there. • Room 6 was perfectly adequate, clean, and charmingly old-fashioned. • The meal was wonderful (we thoroughly enjoyed it; thank you to the chef!). The breakfast was also very good, with fresh, local products, which is exactly what you look for in this kind of place. • The spa was excellent; we thoroughly enjoyed the two hours we had during our stay.

11/08/2026: The food is like freezer food or something from a can. The restrooms and restaurant are filthy. It's more suited to Spanish and Portuguese truck drivers. The staff are friendly and you're served quickly.

04/08/2026: Awful! The website is outdated, the salad bar is tiny, and the cheeses and desserts are so unappetizing they're almost unbearable, especially with the flies swarming around. The food served was questionable and tasteless. The restaurant was filthy, the hygiene was appalling, and the toilets were in a deplorable state. It was a complete rip-off, as I only looked at their website and didn't read the reviews. Run away!!! My grandson said we should call Chef Etchebest 😂 but first, the health department should inspect the place and shut it down!!!

08/06/2026: We had the chance to try the restaurant this evening, and it was simply excellent, from the welcome to the dessert, including the breaded cod prepared perfectly in a fish and chips style! The dishes arrived promptly in a warm and friendly atmosphere! A restaurant we will definitely return to!

05/06/2026: I stopped at this restaurant one weekday evening and easily found a table outside. It was 7:30 pm and the most appealing meat dishes weren't available. Perhaps they hadn't been serving them all day? I ordered a Caesar salad and it wasn't great. Not even good. Some of the lettuce leaves underneath weren't fresh and the chicken wasn't tasty. Very disappointed with this €15 salad. The setting, however, is quite nice. The staff is very friendly. They are English but speak a little French (the bare minimum). It's the only restaurant within a 15km radius!

25/05/2026: The hotel is magnificent in appearance, but unfortunately, the level of service falls far short of its advertised 5-star rating. The setting is certainly pleasant and exceptional, and the staff are agreeable, but luxury and prestige cannot be fabricated: they imply a genuine commitment to quality and, above all, an obligation to deliver results for the guests. The service proved deplorable on several levels (plastic cups, maggots in the restaurant salad, a rib-eye steak that left much to be desired despite the region's abundance and quality, and many other issues), with a clear lack of attentiveness, responsiveness, and professionalism that absolutely does not meet the standards expected of an establishment in this category. At this price point and with such a prestigious image, the customer experience should be impeccable. Today, luxury is more about appearance than reality.

25/05/2026: Magnificent castle in an idyllic setting. The staff were cordial and smiling, but not at all up to the standards of a 5-star hotel, showing no understanding of the expected professionalism and etiquette for this type of establishment. They lacked discretion, class, and responsiveness. The restaurant food did not live up to the advertised standard (poor quality meat for the price, maggots in the salad). I highly recommend it for the location, the setting, the tranquility, and the choice of materials. However, I strongly advise the staff to reconsider the quality of their services.

07/08/2026: We came for lunch as a group of six, including two teenagers and our dog, and we had a wonderful time. We received a very warm welcome: the entire team was professional, friendly, and attentive. The menu showcases seasonal and local produce, which is truly evident in every dish. Everything was delicious, with flavorful and well-prepared meals. The value for money is excellent. The lovely view of the Charente River is a real bonus and makes the experience even more enjoyable. A big thank you to the whole team for your hospitality and this delightful culinary experience. We will gladly return!

11/07/2026: I'd love to go there, but unfortunately, someone who works there, who lives below me, is awful to the neighbors and therefore probably to the staff. Even though she's retired, she continues to be awful.

03/08/2026: Mixed feelings about this restaurant! The waitress was nonchalant, which was a real shame. As for the food, the meat and sauce were excellent. However, the fries were really large and undercooked for our liking. It's worth noting that the prices are reasonable.

06/08/2026: I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant this bad, and all for an exorbitant price!!! Bonus: if you're a fan of Groland or the Strip Tease show, this is the place to go.

01/08/2026: Good evening, Passing through the area, I stopped for a meal at what you might call a bistro or brasserie (I'm not sure what to call it). A cook was sitting on the terrace, dozing, when we arrived. The welcome was far from warm. The owner, who was probably the owner, clearly didn't know his dishes. The ingredients on the plates were poorly prepared, tasteless, and badly presented. Not to mention the hair in my partner's plate... in short, the food was bad and the service very poor. And to top it all off, the cook came onto the terrace to smoke, asked me for my lighter to light his cigarette, and then went back into town in his kitchen uniform. (Hygiene standards are very questionable!)
