Questions came, attempts at conversation, genuine curiosity. In a few minutes, I was no longer just observing, I was part of the scene. I explained the reason for my presence: my great-grandfather Adrien Berard, son of Pauline D'bois, born in that region, a great-grandfather who left for Brazil at the age of 40 and never returned. Perhaps the city won't tell you anything immediately. But if you insist, it ends up speaking, even if it's in silence.
