20/09/2026: The tapas are delicious! I've never tasted such good white sangria! The service was excellent, with friendly waitresses. Highly recommended!

19/09/2026: A terrible experience from the start. We wanted to sit at a table, and the waitress rudely told us they were only for food orders. The area was empty. After finally sitting down at the table she indicated, they took a long time to take our order and then to bring four drinks. We were talking when a drunk man approached our table and interrupted our conversation. It was a very annoying and uncomfortable situation, and the staff did nothing. The music they play is a YouTube video. The service was careless and aggressive. I wouldn't go back, and I don't recommend it.

02/09/2026: We ordered tartar was good, octopus chipiron was good but monkfish was with bad spoiled smell ( two of us order it, and both of us felt it was not good). We told the lady who was the manager there... she refused to listen And asked to pay in full. Very strange approach, we were very nice to her and paid in full. Unfortunately this was our worst experience for all our stay in France

25/08/2026: The value for money is poor: it's expensive. They charge €4.50 for a Coke and €2.40 for an iced coffee, which I couldn't even drink because it was so bad (they put the ice in the cup and poured the hot coffee straight from the machine). What they call sangria is nothing like it; it's a pitcher of cheap wine with ice, and they charge €14 for half a liter. The wait was excessive, and the service was generally very unfriendly. One waiter seemed like he was owed money and hadn't been paid. He was rude and unpleasant to one of my children who was simply sitting at a table waiting. However, to be fair, I want to mention one woman who was the only pleasant and attentive person we had. Not recommended at all.

30/01/2026: Disappointing. Barely friendly welcome. Very basic dishes. Dessert worthy of a supermarket. I do not recommend it.

21/12/2025: We had a wonderful Sunday lunch at Patxi's! It was pouring rain, but the warm atmosphere of the restaurant made us forget the bad weather. The servers were friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The food was varied and of high quality. We will gladly return.

12/06/2026: Amazing experience, the hotel allowed me to drop off my bag pre check-in, which allowed me to explore the beautiful city of Bayonne. The receptionist Claire was extremely welcoming and accomodating.

25/05/2026: We celebrated my husband's 70th birthday. We greatly appreciated the kindness of Soso and his wife. We were delighted because everything was perfect. The table was beautifully set, the aperitif was very convivial with excellent tapas. The meal was delicious and very generous, and the cake was superb... all this at a relaxed pace, allowing us to savor every moment. Thank you, Soso, for your warmth, your guitar, and your kindness.

27/02/2026: An unpretentious restaurant, perfect for meeting up with friends (which is exactly what we did), in a rugby-loving atmosphere and enjoying simple, hearty meals like grandma used to make. We shared a convivial experience at very reasonable prices (starter, main course, dessert, and coffee: €18.10), welcomed and served by a Biarritz rugby legend. Humor and simplicity reigned. No frills, the focus is on the food and the friendly banter. The atmosphere was filled with stories and wonderful moments from the Biarritz Olympique's glory days, and the spirit of two other pillars of the club—Serge Betsen and Serge Blanco—was palpable. 25/08/2026: The best Basque cake (cream for me, I can't speak for the others). The best pastries. The best ice cream (special mention for the pistachio and vanilla). A delight, a joy, an absolute must!

24/08/2026: For me, the best cakes in the Basque Country are at Pariès!! And their Kanougas (caramels) are to die for!!

23/09/2026: A lovely time spent on the terrace overlooking the quay. I really appreciated the service and the helpful recommendations for wines and sharing plates. The food was high quality and well-prepared; a special mention for the baby squid!

14/09/2026: We arrived Saturday evening around 11 pm and the welcome was simply perfect. Despite the late hour, the staff seated us with a smile and we had a truly excellent meal. A huge thank you in particular to Thibault, who was incredibly kind throughout the entire service. Even though desserts were no longer being served at that hour, he actually reopened the restaurant's second dining room to go and prepare one for me! A rare gesture that made all the difference. The dishes are excellent and the staff is remarkably attentive. We had a wonderful time at La Karafe. Don't hesitate for a second, it's a top-notch restaurant in Bayonne!

03/10/2026: Avoid this place! This restaurant doesn't listen to its customers and refuses to accept criticism. Look at older reviews that express the same feelings. It's necessary to set the record straight regarding your response: Missing information about the ribeye steak: It is nowhere stated that the ribeye steak on the menu is meant to be shared. Other older reviews on your page already point this out. Furthermore, the meat served was excessively fatty and contained a disproportionate amount of bone compared to the edible portion (as shown in the attached photos). Goodwill gesture and apple juice: The glass of apple juice wasn't charged out of pure generosity, but simply because the apple juice included in the unlimited drink deal was never actually served to us. Attitude and Team Management: Regarding your lack of consideration, when we pointed out the inconsistencies with the manager, she dismissed the issue by contemptuously explaining that the employees were newly hired, didn't yet know how things worked, and were "just regular employees." When we suggested she call the servers to confirm our statements, she categorically refused to speak with them. It is precisely this refusal and behavior that demonstrate the bad faith and condescension we denounced.

02/10/2026: There were two of us that day, and we had a wonderful time. We're from the area, so we know a little about the traditions of our good old cider houses. The rib-eye steak was excellent, perfectly cooked, the charcuterie very good, and the welcome was pleasant. And since it seems we need to mention it: sagardoa, Basque cider, is something you either love or hate. Tastes are subjective. But when you come to the Basque Country on holiday and walk into a traditional cider house, the least you can do is perhaps learn a little about what a sagardotegi is and the traditions that go with it. Basque cider isn't Breton cider, and that's precisely the point! 😄 It's drier, more rustic, with its own characteristics and, above all, a real story behind it. You might not like it, no problem. But criticizing a Basque cider house for serving Basque cider is rather odd. The same goes for the ribeye steak: in this kind of establishment, prime cuts are meant to be shared. The bone is part of the meat, and that's hardly a surprise when you order a ribeye. So, to tourists visiting our region: enjoy yourselves, discover our products and traditions. And if you're unfamiliar with them, do some research before your vacation. 😉 As for us, we have no complaints: we'll gladly return. 🌶️🥩🍏

15/08/2026: The food and atmosphere were nice, but definitely overpriced. The soup was watery, with a few pieces of potato, carrot, and leek swimming in it, no beans—it's shameful to even call it garbure. Five small trout from the neighboring fish farm—what a markup and what a tourist attraction when you know that a few grilled smelts or fresh sardines would offer three times the flavor for less. The red wine came in a one-liter bottle with a screw cap, the kind you'd pay two euros for. A slice of sheep's cheese two millimeters thick, and a pseudo-Basque cake made from brioche. They're taking advantage of the Parisian tourist who thinks they're getting something authentic for next to nothing.

03/10/2026: The €25 set menu included a very nice and generous starter. I had the ribeye steak, which was very tough and not very large, and the portion of fries wasn't sufficient. But overall, it was good value for money.

This is rare enough in the Basque Country to warrant mentioning, especially since there are so many good restaurants here and the welcome is often warm…
