10/07/2026: We had a wonderful evening at Jarapea restaurant, where we were delighted by both the visual appeal and the delicious food, from the appetizers to the desserts. The service was efficient and pleasant. Located a few kilometers from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, this establishment is one we highly recommend.

18/08/2026: The bread quality is acceptable depending on the type chosen; the rice and buckwheat flour bread has a firm crumb and keeps well. However, the wholemeal bread is mediocre, lacking substance, with a very light crumb, doesn't keep, and hardens quickly. The Basque cake is decent, but greasy and lacking cream and flavor, unlike other brands such as Maison A.1 or Par.

16/08/2026: Despite the positive reviews and second place in a pastry competition, I absolutely did not enjoy the croissants or the pain au chocolat, which tasted "industrial"... The coffee wasn't good either, from a roaster in St. Girons (09) known for being bad. 29/07/2026: We went in for a few beers at the bar; we weren't planning on eating. We asked the bartender, and he said we'd have to wait five minutes while he finished serving. It seemed reasonable since he looked busy. After a few minutes, we saw he'd finished and asked him again, but he told us we'd have to wait. After 15 minutes at the bar, we saw him go back into the dining area and start cleaning tables and tidying up. He ignored us, and we left without being served. I hope the fact that we're Spanish didn't influence his decision.

26/07/2026: I first learned about Xarnegu some time ago through the novel "The Smile of Magdalene," which includes some scenes set in this charming village of Bidache. I finally went back, and today I returned during the Santiago Festival. I loved it and highly recommend it! I'll be back. Thank you.

31/07/2026: Super fresh with products cooked just like at home and a delicious fresh salad (not from a bag), excellent breaded escalope and excellent lemon tart (fresh and not too sweet). I recommend it!

08/08/2026: Hello We didn't stay at this hotel, but we ate there twice. Our gîte (self-catering accommodation) is located not far away in Ainhoa, about 2 km away. We were recommended by our hosts. A truly wonderful place where we ate very, very well, and especially homemade food. The specialty is paella made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. A very good menu. (The homemade trout fillet platter. The platter of Basque ham and pâté made with pork raised on their farm. The baby squid and homemade fries. The lamb was excellent. The albacore tuna salad was a delight.) This Logis restaurant is truly recommended; a wonderful discovery in the Basque Country and near the Spanish border. The owner is very pleasant, as are the waitresses, and my mother-in-law is always behind the bar—a truly lovely place. Thank you very much. See you soon.
