02/01/2026: A wonderful surprise! We were looking for a restaurant for lunch with our two dogs. We were welcomed inside without any problem, into a quiet corner. Once served, what a treat! The burger is probably one of the best I've had in years. Impeccable service, no frills, and a varied yet well-chosen menu. Thank you again!

31/01/2026: An excellent restaurant in Bernay! We had a wonderful meal: authentic French bistro cuisine with delicious dishes typical of the Normandy region. Everything was perfectly executed. The service was excellent and very welcoming. I highly recommend it!

19/03/2026: An experience I won't soon forget… unfortunately, not for the right reasons. I could sum it up in one word: kitchen nightmare. Cobwebs in the restrooms 😱, a door that wouldn't close… The service in the kitchen was a complete farce: dishes served at different times, repeated order errors… it was hard to understand what happened that evening. Even when it came time to pay, the confusion persisted: inconsistent bills, with different prices for identical dishes. We also have the feeling that the bottle of wine that was supposed to be complimentary was ultimately charged to us. Faced with the accumulation of problems, and despite our complaints throughout the meal, we decided not to pursue the matter further. In short, a very disappointing experience. An establishment I, for one, will not be returning to.

19/03/2026: Very bad experience. We didn't eat at the same time. The menus arrived, and those who had ordered pizzas waited over 45 minutes longer. The choux pastry on the profiteroles wasn't fresh.

25/02/2026: Excellent home-style cooking in a great atmosphere. Two things to know: 1- The restaurant doesn't accept credit cards. 2- You can smell the fireplace, but that's the price you pay for good meat.

25/03/2026: I ordered the €40 set menu. The starter of 12 oysters was terrible; I was sick all evening. Then the ribeye steak looked perfect, but it was nothing of the sort: more fat than meat, even more sinew than meat. Luckily the dessert was good, but after feeling so ill, I won't be back. Check your oysters and your meat dishes; for €40, that seems essential.

01/03/2026: As regulars at La Vieille Gabelle, we were particularly disappointed by our visit today. Unfortunately, the quality is no longer up to the standard of our previous visits. Several issues spoiled our evening: • Disregard for reservation requirements: I specifically requested a table on the ground floor for my mother, who has a knee problem. Despite this, we were seated upstairs. And don't even get me started on the U-shaped table for five people—it was absurd! • Disappointing ambiance: The upstairs room is shabby, extremely noisy, and the mismatched chairs detract from the expected level of service. It's far from the atmosphere of a "fine dining" establishment. • Declining value for money: The portions are noticeably smaller. The photo of the trout gravlax, with its three tiny pieces, is a perfect example: for the price of the set menus, it's woefully inadequate. • Slow service: Arrived at 7 pm, left at 10:15 pm... The service was slow and poorly paced. It's a real shame, but this experience has put us off returning anytime soon…

20/12/2025: A chance discovery. Exceptional! We haven't eaten so well in ages. Foie gras served in two courses: terrine and pan-seared with warm apples, hay-smoked pigeon, magnificent scallops, and the desserts were absolutely delicious. The waitress was fantastic, and the chef even came to say goodbye at the end. We'll definitely be back.

21/08/2025: Nothing to complain about, it's friendly! The atmosphere is admittedly a little dreary, but we make up for it with the friendly service and the owner who's so approachable! 😊 I live right across the street and it's a pleasant walk. See you soon! ✌️

04/04/2026: Excellent value for money. Home-style cooking. Very reasonable prices. Good quality rosé wine for the price, which isn't always the case in other restaurants. I recommend it.

23/03/2026: A delicious break at L'Archange 😋 The crepes are good and the welcome is warm. The terrace allowed us to enjoy the beautiful weather and the superb view.

01/02/2026: I highly recommend the homemade burgers. We ordered one classic burger, one chicken burger, and one raclette burger. The meat was excellent, and everything was very well prepared. Just a quick phone call, and voilà, no waiting—it was ready and hot! I recommend it without hesitation!
