22/07/2026: I visited on a solo trip. I wanted to eat tarte flambée, so I decided on Chappy's recommendation. I ordered a small salad, but it was very filling and incredibly delicious! I ordered a Riesling wine. I had to wait quite a while for the bill to be brought to my table after asking for it. It's best to come with plenty of time and patience.

08/06/2026: Excellent product quality, fast service, simple and efficient. I definitely recommend it. The setting is nice (bistro-style), but there's room for improvement. However, that doesn't detract from the pleasure of having a good meal there!

09/08/2026: We both started with the onion soup, which was incredibly watery and tasteless. Even adding salt barely helped.
I had the Wiener Schnitzel with fries, and somehow the fries were less crispy than boiled potatoes. My friend had the stew, which was decent, but tasted like something mass-produced rather than freshly prepared.
Overall, this was by far the most below-average meal we had during our trip, especially considering how expensive it was.
Unfortunately, the service made the experience even worse. The waitresses were rude and unfriendly, and we seriously considered leaving multiple times. As we had just arrived in the city and, with everything else fully booked, decided to stay.
Honestly, I would recommend staying away from this place

02/08/2026: There was only interior seating available in July 2026 due to the infrastructure construction going on outside. There seemed to be quite a lot of locals or French-speaking clientele inside.
The quiche with salad was very generous. It came with 2 slices of quiche and a salad with a huge assortment of vegetables and coleslaws. The kidneys had a really nice bite to them and came with a side of spaetzele. The cream sauce was mixed with a mustard which really cut the richness.
The AC was very strong which was much needed during one of France's many heatwaves. They also seem to offer a modest lunch buffet for around 20 Euros which includes a handful of proteins and several vegetable options. It is extremely small compared to North American standards.

08/06/2026: Came here with my boyfriend for a date night in Colmar. Great food, pork cheek was melting in my mouth, and the cream of asparagus, I could drink a whole bowl! Old man serving us was very polite and friendly, he recommended a great golden Gewurtztraminer wine! Service was a bit slow, that’s the only thing I’ll say!
03/06/2026: The Michelin Green Guide recommended this establishment, and the menu looked quite tempting, so I headed to Maison Rouge for dinner (it's best to book, especially during peak season). The salmon was delicious, accompanied by a sauce that perfectly complemented it. The wine, a Gamay, recommended by a smiling and humorous woman, was also an excellent choice. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner and the time I spent in this restaurant, despite the heatwave.

31/07/2026: We were able to try Balaskas, a specialty I wasn't familiar with. I had my doubts, but my 3-year-old son also had a children's menu (basic, but he thoroughly enjoyed the homemade fries and two sausages). We were quite full, and regretfully didn't try the desserts, which looked delicious!
31/07/2026: What a hidden gem! It is easy to walk past without noticing the restaurant, but inside lies a wonderful courtyard for outdoor dining. This cozy spot is loved by locals—we were the only tourists—and the traditional regional food was fantastic. I had the classic Quiche Lorraine, and my partner had the vegetarian quiche. Both came with a fresh, crisp side salad dressed to perfection. The service was warm and amazing!"

22/07/2026: We arrived with a full wallet and an empty stomach. It was not possible to order the plat du jour. Only items from the menu that were twice as expensive. Doesn't matter, after all, we brought a full wallet. I saw others around me who did have one. It took a long time before the waitress came to take our order. While we were ordering in English, she just walked away. That can happen, of course. A while later she came back. In the meantime, we had both been to the toilet. It was dirty, by the way, but that is beside the point. And again, she walked away while taking the order. That was the last straw. When we stood up, she suddenly came back and wanted 2 euros for using the toilet. Don't go here. We are no longer used to this kind of inhospitability in France.
22/07/2026: Visit during the World Cup semi-final.
We must highlight the absolutely remarkable professionalism of our waitress, Camille, who looked after us during the World Cup semi-final. We were seated quickly. The evening was extremely intense for the teams. The restaurant was packed, the atmosphere electric. Yet, despite this large crowd, Camille demonstrated impressive calm, efficiency, and composure. She remained available, responsive, and smiling despite the event. Her orders were taken quickly and accurately, the service was seamless, and her attitude was always warm. Well done, Camille! We will be back and hope to see you again.
Congratulations to the entire team for managing the evening so well.

26/07/2026: We ended up there spontaneously and, after about a 10-minute wait on a Friday evening, were able to get a table for four people on the terrace. Very friendly service, a wide selection of local dishes, and very fair prices. Excellent!
