Chez Michel

Saint-Jean-De-Luz
16/02/2026: Great place! Simple, quick, and convenient. Super nice!! Meat with potatoes and green salad. Dessert: pear tart and rice pudding. What a treat!
07/02/2026: The quality of the service and the crème brûlée alone are worth a visit! You can eat well there for a fair price, in a very friendly atmosphere.

Ostalamer

Saint-Jean-De-Luz
19/02/2026: We've been eating here for 10 years. Still as good as ever. Everything on the menu looks tempting, and we always enjoy it just as much. Well done!
08/02/2026: We called a bit casually on the same day (a Sunday, no less) for dinner for five people, and the staff very kindly found us a table for 9:15 pm. They cook over a wood fire, mainly serving fish and shellfish, but also meat. The turbot was excellent. The service was very friendly. The beach right next door is beautiful, sheltered from the big waves.

18/12/2024: We spent an absolutely wonderful night at this beachfront hotel. The suite was stunning, spacious and perfectly decorated, offering stunning views of the ocean. Comfort was there, with quality bedding and an idyllic setting in which to relax. We enjoyed the spa, which allowed us to recharge our batteries. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, ideal for a moment as a couple. We highly recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway. It is a perfect place to relax and enjoy an unforgettable experience.

la diva

Saint-Jean-De-Luz
07/07/2025: Very friendly little restaurant. From the €25 menu, I had mussels à la diva as a starter; excellent. However, the main course was squid. A huge surprise, really very little in the pan. Nothing to eat. And for dessert, a homemade tiramisu, which was also a real disappointment. Otherwise, the waiters and waitresses were very decent.
29/06/2025: A wonderful discovery! A wide variety of choices, with an excellent €25 menu! We recommend this establishment, where we had a wonderful time. Thank you to the staff.

Le Kaiku, France

Saint-Jean-De-Luz
07/07/2025: June 24th at lunch, my birthday lunch. No ventilation or air conditioning that day. Very hot outside. 58 euro menu, probably a poor choice on my part, the free-range egg. Vomiting and nausea 2 hours after the meal. A distant welcome.
06/07/2025: It's impossible to book for one person, even multiple times, but no problem for two. Is this segregation?

Le vauban

Saint-Jean-De-Luz
24/01/2026: We only saw it because it was open and the person serving was there, and although the service was good, we didn't particularly like it.
23/01/2026: A loyal customer for several years... Warm and relaxed atmosphere with lovely servers and owners... My hazelnut coffee was excellent, my favorite in Saint-Jean-de-Luz ☺️ Fast and attentive service, often accompanied by a kind word... Every morning I'm greeted with a smile and good cheer, and I leave with positive energy just before work. It's more than a café... it's a place to meet and have a good laugh. I highly recommend it... a simple and genuine place where kindness goes both ways; when you respect the staff, the customer is respected in turn. Thank you all for your positive energy!

Ocean Coffee Bar

Saint-Jean-De-Luz
03/02/2026: The best restaurant in Saint Jean! Everything is truly delicious, fresh and seasonal produce, healthy and gourmet cuisine. And unbeatable value for money!
28/11/2025: The best lunch menu in SJDL is a Bocata sandwich paired with on of their incredible natural wines - it can't get better than that! The service is always very sweet even when the lunch crowd takes over and their desserts always make for the perfect way to end a good meal.

Chez Maya - Le Petit Grill Basque

Saint-Jean-De-Luz
01/03/2026: I'm from Saint-Jean-de-Luz and I regularly eat at several restaurants in this beautiful town. I'm tired of seeing disparaging comments about the work of passionate restaurateurs. These people simply aren't "suited" to these places, so they can't judge the work objectively. We go to Le Petit Grill to: open our minds to wines we don't find at Nicolas, enjoy generous traditional cuisine and specials we won't find anywhere else (traditional Arroz, for example), and experience an atmosphere that takes us back a few years (I used to come to this restaurant for dinner 20 years ago with my parents, and my memories are still vivid) thanks to this new team. The noise is typical restaurant noise; for silence, there's the library. Thank you, and long live Le Petit Grill!
27/02/2026: A Frustrating Visit When I go out to eat, I look for fair and reasonable value for money, a warm and friendly welcome, and an atmosphere that pleases my eyes as much as my taste buds. Unfortunately, none of these aspects were present, in my opinion. The welcome was so-so and far from warm. The interior was dated and unrefined. And noisy. Starters were priced like main courses, but in miniature portions. Onion soup for €19. The fish, drowned in sauce, was served with a single potato and a few spinach leaves. I've lived in the Basque Country for a very long time, and I know many restaurants, both on the coast and inland. This restaurant doesn't compare to the excellent establishments we are fortunate enough to have.

Restaurant Txalupa

Saint-Jean-De-Luz
27/11/2025: Excellent in every way. Several visits over several years and the quality of service is always top-notch. Not to be missed.
23/11/2025: Unbeatable location in Place Louis XIV. We went with high expectations and the team at La Txalupa delivered. We started with a textbook Foie Gras: perfect texture and intense flavor. But the undisputed star is the Sole Plantxa (Sole). At €38 a dish, you expect quality, and they certainly delivered; fresh product, treated with absolute respect. Honorable mention to the wine (Gascogne Big Blc), a fantastic discovery for €22 that pairs beautifully with the fish. The service was surprisingly attentive and efficient for a tourist spot. The only downside: €5 for half a liter of Vittel water seems like highway robbery, but we forgive them for the final Gateau Basque. Recommended if you want quality and don't mind the price.

04/03/2026: Very good restaurant, reasonable prices and fast service
03/03/2026: Excellent food! We had lunch on the terrace one day and received a super friendly welcome. The food was delicious. Everything was homemade, right down to the bread baked in a wood-fired oven. A very pleasant experience, highly recommended.

Le Majestic

Saint-Jean-De-Luz
07/12/2025: Irish coffee blended, they don't know how to make it, at €12. An outrageously expensive coffee bill. A tiny and filthy bathroom for all the customers they have and considering how much they charge. The crepes are completely cold; they're not made fresh, they're reheated.
30/11/2025: I ordered a Sex on the Beach Virgin and a revisited tiramisu with red berries; it was great, and the waiter was very attentive.

Made In Acotz

Saint-Jean-De-Luz
21/11/2025: The experience began even before we unpacked: the welcome was so unfriendly that we almost missed the old-fashioned administrative offices. They were fifteen minutes late finishing cleaning the mobile home—no apologies, of course, that would be asking too much. The highlight? A clothesline collapsed on the terrace, which could have been put back up before we arrived… but clearly, attention to detail isn't their strong suit. When I had the misfortune to politely ask if the accommodation had been cleaned, I received a classic response: "Ugh, yeah," accompanied by an insolent grimace. Ah, the meaning of service… The mobile home itself is a masterpiece of minimalism. No kettle, no dishwasher, no toaster, no hangers, no radiator, no sink plug—and that's just the tip of the iceberg. The cupboards creak, the chairs creak, the doors creak… a veritable symphony of decaying woodwork. The cupboards crumble under your fingers, the wooden deck threatens to send you flying with its uneven planks, and a large patch of mold sits proudly in the kitchen, likely evidence of a leak that was never repaired. As for the atmosphere, well, let's just say we're in for a treat: spiders, numerous and comfortably settled, accompanied us from the very first night. Granted, we're in the middle of nature, but a little maintenance would have prevented the interior from resembling an entomological laboratory. The result: a hasty purchase of repellent, since we couldn't find the "thorough cleaning" option in the rental agreement. And the swimming pool? Let's talk about it: described as a "water park," it would be laughable if it weren't so pathetic. Too small, freezing cold despite the promise of a heated pool, and accessible via a dizzying slope completely impassable for children, seniors, or anyone with reduced mobility. One can already imagine the brochures: "Guaranteed thrills... just getting there!" And then there's the challenge of finding a parking space, because yes, it's best to take the car to tackle this perilous journey. The beach, advertised as 650 meters away? Technically, that's true. In practice, it's a dangerous crossing, without a sidewalk, on a narrow road where you risk your life with every step. An ideal walk for thrill-seekers... and adrenaline junkies. As for connectivity, even the Wi-Fi seems to have given up: only one connection per mobile home, just to test family solidarity in all its glory. The most ironic thing about all this? The famous "4 stars" proudly displayed. Perhaps they only shine in the managers' imaginations, but on the ground, it's hard to see even a single one. In short: this campsite has at least one redeeming quality—it makes you want to escape to the surrounding area, which is truly magnificent. We were supposed to stay a week, but the temptation to cut our trip short was too strong: we left three days early, grinning from ear to ear at the mere thought of finding real comfort elsewhere. If you're still hesitating: run, run fast, and thank me later.
