25/11/2025: Starter: Canned mixed vegetables and deviled eggs—my mother's were so much better… Main course: Canned beans, dry, uncooked frozen cod, and sticky mashed potatoes… Dessert: Frozen cake and canned custard… The only thing that's even remotely decent is the wine, so that's something… It's getting worse and worse, and this is the last time I'll ever go to this place!!

14/11/2025: Excellent food, generous and flavorful portions for a set menu of starter and main course or main course and dessert for €21.90. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, highly professional, and always offered helpful advice, especially regarding wines. In short, I had a wonderful family lunch.

07/01/2026: My wife and I stayed one night at the hotel on our way back from our New Year's holiday. The hotel's location is truly excellent in relation to the center of Chalon, and we were able to easily walk around and explore the old town. The hotel's facade is superb, and we received a warm welcome upon our arrival on a Sunday afternoon. The two young women at reception were very pleasant, smiling, and incredibly kind; we appreciated them very much, as we did all the staff. We were shown to room 8 on the first floor, which faces the corner of the building. The corridor leading to the room door was far too dark, and I had trouble figuring out how to use the key card because I couldn't see anything. Once we had light from our phone, we entered the room, which was quite spacious but had a rather old-fashioned look. The room and bathroom were spotless, which was great, and the bedding was in excellent condition; we slept very well. However, if I may make a few comments, the whole place really needs refreshing. The few old pieces of furniture in the bedroom need to be replaced or customized, as does the very dark closet, one of whose doors leads to the bathroom. A coat of light paint to brighten up the room wouldn't hurt. The same goes for the bathroom, which dates back to the 80s with old pink tiles that are chipped in places and a bidet that you wouldn't find anywhere in a 4-star hotel anymore. I did appreciate the separation of the toilet from the bathroom. Positive points: - The hotel's location and facade - The very friendly and helpful staff - The cleanliness of the room - The excellent condition of the bedding - The buffet breakfast Negative points: - The corridor leading to the rooms is too dark - Room 8 is outdated (wall lights, bedside tables, etc. need replacing) - The light switches and electrical outlets (not many) need replacing - The bathroom and toilet need renovating - The bathroom shutters are closed all day for privacy, I suppose, which isn't ideal. This establishment wouldn't take much to become truly exceptional, but it isn't at the moment, hence my rating of 4 instead of 5. We nevertheless enjoyed our stay and would gladly return on our next visit to the city.

28/11/2025: We were so happy to share a moment as a family. We enjoyed the terrace during the last days of summer and savored some absolutely delicious frogs' legs in cream sauce. Many thanks again to Alain for this wonderful time and to the waiter who was so attentive.

26/08/2025: A place you must know on the banks of the Saône, a moment of conviviality, go there with family or friends, they will all be amazed by a quality meal. A short stroll along the Saône will be beneficial after this gargantuan meal...

01/03/2026: This hotel is ideally located in Monceaux-les-Mines: a 10-minute walk from the town center, and the same to the train station. The staff is incredibly kind (a big thank you to the young woman at reception for her advice on finding the "L'Embarcadère" performance venue). The rooms are spotless and well-insulated, both thermally and acoustically. The hotel has an elevator to reach the upper floors and is accessible to people with reduced mobility. Pets are welcome (10 euro supplement). The double bed is king-size, and the bedding is of very high quality. The hotel has a bar with a cozy lounge area to enjoy a drink in peace. There is also a restaurant open from Monday evening to Thursday evening (we didn't try it as we were there for the weekend). We opted for the breakfast package. The buffet was absolutely enormous! 😃😋 A wide selection of hot and cold drinks, fresh bread, pastries, pancakes, muffins, cheeses, cold cuts, and more. A real treat! The hotel also has private parking. In short, a hotel I highly recommend for a pleasant stay in the lovely town of Monceaux-les-Mines, and a very big thank you again for the staff's kindness.

24/12/2025: The staff was very pleasant. The problem is the owner; he doesn't accept any feedback... a grumpy old man. He made it clear that I wouldn't be welcome anymore. Note: he served my tiramisu in a cheap plastic bowl. What a shame... His arguments were outdated. Beware! Ask for a detailed bill, as there can be errors. In conclusion: Good luck and well done to the staff.

02/02/2026: It could be a good restaurant, but the owners are awful! They talk a lot of nasty things about the customers and have nothing to talk about...especially the owner, she should find another job... Personally, I won't be going back!

25/02/2026: The food is simply perfect: delicious and simple dishes, made with quality ingredients and very successful flavor combinations. You can feel the care and skill in the kitchen, and each plate is a true pleasure. However, the service could be improved. The staff was pleasant, but a little inattentive. In particular, we weren't offered desserts, which is a shame as it leaves the experience incomplete. A little more attention and follow-up at the table would make the experience truly impeccable. Despite this minor drawback, I highly recommend it for the exceptional quality of the food. 🍽️

09/11/2025: Hello, a message to the owner and anyone wishing to have a coffee or other drink on the terrace: At 12:30 PM, the brasserie was open, but one of the employees refused us entry, saying it was closed in a very unpleasant tone. He added that on Sundays it closes at 2:00 PM. So, it's open at 12:30 PM? This employee seems to think he can choose who gets to enjoy the terrace and have a drink, based on who the customer is. Avoid this place, or you'll have to hire staff capable of building a good reputation for your brasserie. Have a good day.

09/11/2025: Unpleasant welcome, the bar was open with people inside having drinks, and we were told it was closed because the owner was choosing their customers. I don't recommend it. And the opening hours this morning confirm it was open. Edit: It was indeed open, and there were customers, not workers, inside this morning.

31/01/2026: This establishment was subject to administrative closure due to serious health and safety deficiencies. The business is currently for sale.
