03/06/2026: Ate in the hotel restaurant, the butchers choice sirloin steak was just awfull, tough and chewy, probably the worst i can remember having. Its a shame because this is a nice hotel.

30/05/2026: We stayed here several times, always happy. However this time was disappointing. I wasn’t aware of rooms in another building being part of the hotel. Unfortunately those rooms are far inferior to the main stylish part of the hotel. The rooms are not renovated, not as cozy and reachable via labyrinth of stairs and corridors. I will be more specific when making reservation next time. If you want to experience Le Rempart from its best side make sure you specify you want to stay in the main building - then you get a truly quality stay.

02/05/2026: My wife has an amazing memory. Checking my records, we had first stayed here in 1981 and then again in 1986. Some things such as the old farm implements she said had not changed. I had no recollection, but when I checked I had a contact noted with the old less pompous address – lieu dit rather than General de Gaulle. Finding the motel and restaurant was not a problem as it was well signposted off the main road into Macon. The lane past ranks of Tesla chargers was not prepossessing. However, after that the entrance to the desk in the old building was obvious. Thence to the motel part. Not an architectural 1970s splendour but very practical. Odd. Instead of parking next to the units the French park a distance away on the other side of the road. The rooms are perfectly serviceable in a functional way. Their pleasure is that there is a terrace to each and that looks straight onto the Soane river flowing past in it’s limpid way. A few metres distant and with nothing except nature and a footpath in in-between. On a beautiful sunny day little could be more atmospheric. If there is a material downside to the rooms and their age it is the bath. Perhaps when built that was thought to be a necessity. Now a short tub which is extremely, and I mean extremely, hard to get in and out of would be much better replaced with a shower. Perhaps not an over costly renovation and one which would save the owners money in the long run. Otherwise, it might be 2* but it is all more than perfectly adequate. Especially with the view. To which add a very decent continental breakfast. Not included in the reasonable room rate. What is not 2* is the restaurant. It is exceptionally good. There may not be massive choice, but that is irrelevant. What is on offer was delicious. Both the food and the wine are also sensibly priced. That you are a captive audience is not exploited. One can not only eat indoors but also on the terrace overlooking the fields and the river. OK, if you are picky the proximity of the A6 does create a bit of background noise. No doubt wind direction dependent. However, the proximity to the A6/A40 junction is an added convenience. We loved it. This time unlikely to wait another 40 years to return.

19/04/2026: Near the Tesla supercharger. Very good food and lovely staff in an amazing natural location surrounded by fields and horses.

21/08/2026: We bought one portion of rice with chicken and mushroom which cost over €8.00. the food itself looked very ugly, to say the least. The rice was NOT cooked. My partner went back to the counter only to hear he should mix it with the sauce. Come to this place at your own risk!

11/07/2026: One really sweet waitress but the others stood around the bar area and after rather a long time I had to ask someone to bring me a menu. I accept my French is terrible. I ordered the chicken kebab but some of the meat was still raw in the middle. I sent it back and ordered a green salad instead. Few options in this little town but best you avoid. Shame really!

25/07/2026: Romantic dinner for our anniversary, booked by my husband as a surprise. The setting is indeed nice, with a pleasant musical duo/singer, but it's a large restaurant with a lot of coming and going. The service was provided by a very young team; they came to ask us if we wanted dessert while we were still waiting for our main course (little hiccups can happen). As for the meal... well, what can I say except that it was bland, overcooked, underseasoned, and poorly presented. For starters, a Caesar salad with what I suspect was a pre-made dressing, a rather tasteless bruschetta that was difficult to cut, then octopus on a bed of pea and new potato purée—the octopus was far too overcooked, the peas were completely unseasoned, and the Asian tartare was inedible. Expensive for what it was. I was very, very disappointed with this restaurant, which somewhat spoiled my evening. We certainly won't be back and wouldn't recommend it.

09/05/2026: What a great find this brasserie was! We enjoyed a delicious set menu—starter, main course, and dessert—at a very reasonable price. Everything was excellent, and the service was quick and friendly.

08/05/2026: Now, this is « just a café » next to City Hall and the main church. We did not have a reservation and were truly welcome although the place was very busy. The staff (Patrick and Karine) were so welcoming.. we felt like family and the chef amazingly found ways to feed hungry coeliacs!!!

12/07/2026: The cleanliness was lacking. The snails were really bad. No vegetables with the pochouse.

03/08/2026: So, we made a reservation for 12:30. We were told it was all homemade and there would be a wait. Okay, so we still waited an hour and a half for one dish. We were ready to leave when we were finally served... luckily for us, the calf's head was very good. So, we don't recommend it because of the wait; there's no organization for the service, the dishes are served haphazardly. As a result, we didn't even order dessert for fear of waiting another hour and a half before being served. What a shame...

25/07/2026: Brilliant find. Ann is a wonderful Chef, owner and singer 😁 The lunch we had was fresh and well presented. I hope we can go back at some point.

10/08/2026: I can understand the situation, even though there were maybe five tables between us, but... I ordered a Coke at 10:04 PM, and after two reminders because it still hadn't arrived (despite the fact that people who arrived after us received their meals before us, even though, I remind you, we ordered a Coke), I finally had to go back an hour later to demand my Coke, which hadn't been prepared. I think organization is more than important in this industry, and in this case, it definitely needs to be reviewed.

16/08/2026: A lovely family meal, a beautiful and unique setting, a super friendly waitress, and fantastic food. All our plates were taken home empty! We'll be back!

11/08/2026: We felt like we were bothering them. We left immediately. Very disappointed.

20/12/2025: If you like surprises, then you'll love it! Personally, I think the chef and his dishes are worthy of the very best. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes from his menu.

02/08/2026: Unacceptable... Despite making a reservation directly with the restaurant through a very pleasant waiter and arriving 10 minutes before our reservation time, our table for three was given to a larger group. A lack of respect and concern for the customer. A classic example of this in very touristy places. We are very disappointed and will not be returning.

26/05/2026: The pizzas are okay. Nothing special. You can tell the ingredients are pretty low-quality. The owner is very nice.
