13/05/2026: We had a lovely family weekend in Nantua, a region we hadn't visited before. The ferry terminal was the perfect place to recharge our batteries after busy days.
13/05/2026: Excessive price considering the advertised standard and the reality.
Monday evening: only one chicken dish available. No prawns, scallops, or filet mignon due to staff shortages, and I wasn't notified or compensated for the inconvenience.

16/05/2026: We used to travel to Divonnes only to eat one of the best steaks we’ve ever tasted. Seems like the chef is changed, and nothing feels the same. Low quality meat, cold, huge fries, and a broken rest room! Also they changed the magical sauce, so nothing felt even close!! Complete disappointment costing around 100 euro!

We were simply looking for a hotel for a stopover… and we found so much more.
After a few detours off the highway, we arrived in a small hilltop village, surrounded by nature. Absolute peace and quiet. Not a sound. Just what you need to truly disconnect.
The welcome at the Auberge d’Aranc is warm, genuine, and sincere.
The rooms are clean, and the bathrooms are completely renovated.
As for the food: an excellent surprise. A buffet of original and homemade salads (nothing like the usual fare), several choices of main courses, desserts… all with a simple and flexible menu. The food is delicious, without any pressure.
A perfect night, waking to the sound of the church bells… and a very pleasant moment in the morning with the incredibly kind owners.
👉 Yes, it's a small village, a bit out of the way…
👉 And that's exactly why we come here.
A genuine, simple, and precious place.

09/06/2026: "A quality establishment," as evidenced by numerous awards over the years, and it's clear that it's entirely deserved, with a very reasonable price for the three-course meal (starter, main, and dessert) at around €20. The quality of the ingredients, the flavors, and the friendly service are all part of the package. It's a real gem, an establishment that exudes the rigor and experience of true professionals, not to mention good humor and a welcoming atmosphere. Bravo!
07/06/2026: During a business trip, I noticed the brightly lit signs for this restaurant. From the main highway, my attention was caught, and I stopped to try the meat, drawn by the neon sign depicting a cow. I'm probably too used to it, but I've never seen such a wide selection of different cuts of beef, with different aging periods. I try a 500g steak with the family's signature sauce. Again, probably accustomed to a different way of cooking, I don't fully appreciate the flavor of the meat, probably because it's marinated in too much garlic, which overwhelms the flavor, and the meat is still difficult to cut and chew. The flavor is too strong for me, even though the meat is high-quality, but I have trouble chewing it. I also took the opportunity to try the fondue, with soft pieces of bread to dip in, a dish I enjoyed very much. A good glass of typical white wine to accompany everything. And to finish, a good espresso from a well-known Italian company, well-extracted and of high quality considering it's a single-origin blend. I'm not entirely satisfied with the value for money, but it's still considered a good restaurant.

For over 30 years we've been going to La Rolande for the food, and especially the frog legs.
The service is still as professional as ever, but the food, and particularly the frog legs, isn't what it used to be… a very specific cooking method with real expertise.
What a disappointment! Not to mention the vacherin served in a stoneware yogurt pot with two layers of ice cream. I'm still looking for the meringue, and what about the whipped cream on top?
We expressed our disappointment to the person at the reception, who replied, "Everyone has their own tastes!" Well, no, expertise is expertise, and we don't travel miles for tasteless frog legs. And then there's the vacherin, where I was told that it was also made this way under the previous owner (which it wasn't!).
On the plus side, the foie gras was excellent.
It's with sadness that we'll be crossing the threshold of this establishment for the last time.

07/05/2026: A very good restaurant, at least for us. The frogs' legs are very good and the chicken breasts are excellent, as is the rest of the menu. The prices are very reasonable. The staff is welcoming and friendly.
I recommend it to anyone who wants to eat well without spending too much.
And as I always say, everyone should form their own opinion.

04/02/2026: Extremely disappointed!!! The Landes salad wasn't very Landes-style, more like a Finnish salad (a diet salad). The chicken in cream sauce: I got a sad, scrawny wing. The dauphinoise potatoes: a child's portion. The ice cream: well, we clearly have different definitions of "scoop"... The only positive thing about it was the cream sauce on the chicken!!!... PERSONALLY: VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! Luckily, I'd just come from the pig festival 🐷 and had devoured three slices of strong cheese and a generous plate of kidneys/heart in a blood sauce with red wine... CONCLUSION: I WON'T BE GOING BACK THERE!!!!
