04/05/2026: First visit...Monday, May 4, 2026. 1:45 PM...55...
17/02/2026: No candle, not the right temperature, an hour's wait for a leg of lamb.

Sous les Micocouliers
Eygalieres
15/05/2026: A very interesting location in a quiet setting! You feel right at home here! The food and service are top-notch!
30/12/2025: We've held our end-of-year company meals here several times and have never been disappointed. The food was excellent, the setting beautiful, and the service impeccable.
Thank you to the team.

Riv'Oli
Vauvenargues
21/03/2026: Nice place, but the food and service are bad.
16/01/2026: There was very little wait to be served, and the staff was vaguely professional, but nothing alarming so far. After waiting about 15 minutes, I was served a "tartare" that was supposed to be hand-cut, but I think the establishment uses an axe, judging by the size of the pieces… The dish was simply inedible: the meat wasn't good quality, the sauce wasn't suitable for a tartare, and the pieces of Parmesan were enormous. I don't usually complain about the food I'm served, but here I felt compelled to point it out to try and get my €24 worth. The waitress condescendingly informed me that everything was perfectly fine and that people usually loved their tartare (which I doubt). The gesture of offering me this famous tartare (which I barely touched) seemed appropriate, if only the waitress hadn't been bragging about it in front of the entire restaurant! Frankly, I don't often leave reviews for restaurants, but this one is best avoided.

Marcel a Table
Cabries
26/04/2026: A warm welcome. Friendly help carrying the large bags of kibble to the car. Perfect.
13/01/2026: Things have gone completely wrong at Marcel Bio Plan de Campagne, apart from the sincerity of the staff, who do what they can (poor things...) and are unfortunately under the thumb of their despotic manager. He didn't even deign to see me because he was with the health inspector (who I hope gave him a good telling-off...). I simply had one question: Why is a food product (semolina), expired since September 2025, still on the shelves with only a 20% discount? Without any mention of it anywhere???... Seriously, is this madness??? After asking several salespeople to meet with the manager, and being refused every time, I told them I was going elsewhere. I've been a customer for 15 years, once a week. You've lost a customer. Signed, Frank Zappa (my customer account with them).

Le Tambourin
Arles
15/05/2026: Barely a hello and you feel like you're bothering them! Catastrophic service, a grumpy bartender who does nothing but complain! And doesn't even bother to serve you, they give you change for the wrong reason…
26/04/2026: The grumpy, rude waiter threw my change on the bar. No receipt, no prices. A coffee was 2.50. The bathroom was awful.

Bar Le Capian
Marseille-2E, Marseille
30/04/2026: Waited 20 minutes for a drink then left thirsty.
14/04/2026: The InterContinental Marseille – Hôtel Dieu is a five-star establishment. It says so everywhere. The building is magnificent — an 18th-century former hospital inaugurated by Napoleon III, no less. I arrived with my expectations intact.
They did not survive the terrace.
Perhaps I am being particular. I have been called worse. But when an establishment charges five-star prices and displays five stars above its door, it has entered into an implicit agreement with its guests. I hold up my end. I pay the bill without complaint. In return, I expect the stars to mean something. Had there been no stars, no white-glove pretensions — I would not have bothered. But there are. And so here we are.
We were seated on the terrace of Le Capian. And what a terrace it is — in the architectural sense, certainly. In every other sense, winter came, deposited its full inventory of leaves, debris and grime, and nobody thought to object. Something had occupied a section of the floor for the cold months — a planter, a piece of furniture, one can only speculate. It had since been removed. What had not been removed was the evidence of its long residency: grease stains, dark outlines pressed into the stone, the biography of an object that sat undisturbed for months. One might invoke Marseille's famously brisk Mistral winds as a mitigating circumstance. One would be wrong. Any establishment of this classification, in this city, is intimately acquainted with the Mistral. It is not a surprise. It is a forecast. Maintaining a terrace in these conditions is not exceptional hospitality — it is Tuesday.
The service rose to the occasion — by which I mean it did not rise at all. Our waitress passed our table with great purpose, that purpose being the table directly behind us. We waited. We continued to wait. One wonders — and I raise this as a man who dresses for his own comfort and has never dressed to impress — whether one's reception here is subject to a quiet visual assessment. I have encountered this philosophy at other addresses of similar standing. It is not more charming the second time.
When hospitality finally arrived, it took the form of a bowl of olives. Just olives. No nuts. No accompaniments. At every five-star bar I have visited, the welcome snack has at minimum suggested someone gave it a thought. Here, Le Capian has placed the entire weight of its hospitality onto a single olive. It is, I concede, a very good olive. And yet, at these prices, the snack is not a courtesy — it is a statement. A bowl of solitary olives makes an establishment of this ranking appear, to use a word one rarely associates with five stars, cheap.
The following day I visited Le Dantès Skylounge at the Sofitel Marseille Vieux-Port — also five stars. The terrace was clean. The staff acknowledged us. Snacks appeared without negotiation. None of this is remarkable. None of it should be. But that story deserves its own review.
Le Capian was entirely content to let the architecture do the talking — and to let the rest of us sit quietly on a dirty terrace, waiting to be noticed.
A Frenchly Honest review, as told by MaisOui Le Frenchy.

Brasserie Barnex
Les Pennes-Mirabeau
17/05/2026: I was shocked by the waiter's behavior. He asked my friend and her 10-year-old son to leave simply because the child and his mother didn't want to drink, even though I and another friend had ordered. What was most shocking was his attitude and words. You clearly don't understand business; on the contrary, business begins with respect, hospitality, and a human touch—values that seemed completely ignored. Having worked in the restaurant industry, I can tell you there were many empty tables and no influx of customers that Saturday around 1 or 2 pm, so there was absolutely no reason why other people couldn't be served. It was pure, gratuitous nastiness. I do not recommend this place.
10/05/2026: Try the themed evenings. They're great. Excellent brasserie cuisine.

Boulangerie Patisserie Saint Victor
Marseille-7E, Marseille
09/07/2025: Bakery known for its pastries and delicious sandwiches, nothing to complain about the quality. However, we are faced with a team of young people who are certainly friendly but incomparably slow. Everything is slow for not much and it's a shame, waiting more than 15 minutes to get a sandwich wrapped when there is hardly anyone there is distressing... and especially recurrent.
06/07/2025: Lovely vanilla slice, lovely staff, open good hours

Casa Del Nino
Vitrolles
02/05/2026: The bar atmosphere and food were good.
However, I was appalled by the manager's behavior. He categorically refused to serve us water, even though we had ordered food and drinks, because "we mustn't give customers bad habits, otherwise they'll just keep asking for water all evening. If you want water, we have Evian."... I've never seen anything like it in my life.

Saintes-Maries-De-La-Mer
19/04/2026: Ugh, ugh, ugh, what a joke! Sandy clams, overcooked, dry baby squid, a turbot the size of a baby's portion—even a sole is bigger! Outrageously expensive, and the staff didn't want to work. We felt like we were bothering them. And for April, the season's just starting, and we already didn't want to go... Good luck with the rest of your adventure!
07/04/2026: The mussels we ate here a few days earlier were delicious, even if the portion was small. So, "small but delicious." Yesterday evening, we were turned away at 8:30 p.m. with the explanation that they were closing and tidying up the kitchen. Half an hour later, we passed by the restaurant again. A French-speaking couple was sitting at a table with a full plate of food. What are we to make of that?
