26/09/2026: The dishes are original and offer a nice continuity. The regrettable points are more about the service; we would have liked to be consulted before opening a second bottle of water... and the atmosphere could be much more subdued and intimate. Dining out, beyond the culinary adventure, is also about socializing. And sharing conversations with other diners shouldn't necessarily be on the menu!

30/08/2026: A wonderful discovery: L’Ardoise des Cloutiers! This restaurant offers refined, generous, and flavorful cuisine, with remarkable value for money. We started with two different appetizers: the perfectly cooked egg with feta and eggplant caviar, beautifully executed, with an original and balanced combination of flavors. The other was the Saint-Marcellin cheese, crispy on the outside and meltingly soft on the inside: a particularly indulgent starter. For our main course, we chose the chicken ballotine with mashed potatoes and a rich jus. A very successful dish, with tender chicken, smooth mashed potatoes, and a well-reduced jus that added great depth to the dish. To accompany our meal, we ordered a carafe of Chinon wine, which was of excellent quality and paired perfectly with the dishes. And to finish, French toast with salted caramel: indulgent, comforting, and perfectly balanced with that touch of salt that enhances the caramel. A little tip: reservations are highly recommended! The restaurant was full when we visited, so the service was a bit slow. But honestly, it was well worth the wait. The staff is very friendly, and the wait is quickly forgotten once the food arrives. And above all, it's hard not to mention the price: €25.50 for a starter, main course, and dessert. At this level of quality, it's excellent value for money. A great place to eat in La Rochelle, with refined cuisine, generous portions, and prices that remain very reasonable. We'll gladly return!

16/06/2026: A real gem! This bistro perfectly blends friendliness and quality. The dishes are generous, flavorful, and prepared with excellent ingredients. The atmosphere is warm and the service is friendly, quick, and attentive. You feel comfortable from beginning to end. During our week-long stay, we (two couples) returned three times because we were so satisfied. An excellent place to recommend without hesitation!

07/09/2026: If you don't want to miss out on dessert, remember to order it at the beginning of your meal! I was already familiar with this establishment, which I greatly enjoyed, and whose cuisine remains, in fact, excellent. It is therefore with regret that I think I won't be returning. When we ordered, the waiter—who may also be the owner—asked us if we wanted dessert. We simply replied that we preferred to wait until the end of the meal to see if we would still be hungry. At no point was it mentioned to us that if we didn't order our dessert at the beginning of the meal, it would no longer be possible to get it later. It's true that this information was indicated on the menu, but we hadn't noticed it. Given that the dishes were very good, but served in relatively small portions, we ultimately decided to finish our meal with a little something sweet. Imagine our surprise when we were told it was too late and that ordering dessert was absolutely impossible. We simply pointed out that this rule seemed rather odd and that we weren't used to this way of doing things. The response was, "It's written on the menu," in a tone that unfortunately made us quite uncomfortable. It's a shame, because we had a very good meal and the dishes were truly excellent. But this rigidity, combined with the way the situation was handled, somewhat spoiled the end of the meal. So we left disappointed, and despite the quality of the food, I unfortunately don't think I'll be returning to this establishment. It's a real pity.
